98 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Cos d Estournel 2017 Saint EstepheJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Gloria 2017 Saint Julien im Januar 2020:
Quite the bottle here! Spices. such as nutmeg and cinnamon. as well as dried meat and plums with cedar and sandalwood. Full body. Deep and dense in the center palate and a long. long finish. Shows finesse and tightness. Very polished tannins. Long and ethereal. Try after 2023

98+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cos d Estournel 2017 Saint EstepheLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Gloria 2017 Saint Julien im März 2020:

Composed of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon. 32% Merlot. 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. yields for the grand vin in 2017 were 43 hectoliters per hectare. and it was aged in 60% new oak. It came in at an alcohol of 13% and an IPT of 68. Deep garnet-purple colored. the 2017 Cos d'Estournel needs a little coaxing to unfurl. revealing beautiful expressions of preserved plums. boysenberries. blackcurrant pastilles and wild blueberries with hints of Indian spices. menthol. lilacs and mossy tree bark plus a compelling suggestion of iron ore. Medium to full-bodied. the palate has a solid backbone of firm. grainy tannins and well-knit freshness supporting the tightly wound blue and black fruits layers. finishing long and fragrant. This wine will need a good 5-7 years in bottle before it begins to blossom and should go on for at least another 40 years. I expect this wine to be a blockbuster of a head-turner when I come back and taste it at 10 years of age!

A bold. dramatic wine. the 2017 Cos d'Estournel is seriously impressive today. Time in barrel has done wonders for the 2017. a wine that has really gained depth in élevage. Black cherry. chocolate. spice. new leather. licorice. smoke and incense infuse the 2017 with tons of character. with the 60% new oak very well judged. In 2017. Cos has a level of textural resonance that eludes many Saint-Estèphes. The blend is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon. 32% Merlot. 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.

The 2017 Cos d’Estournel showed extremely well from barrel and likewise in bottle. continuing this estate’s strong run of form since the 2014 vintage. You instantaneously fall in love with the nose that bursts forth with blackberry. raspberry coulis. crushed stone. iodine and pressed iris petal. The 60% new oak is beautifully integrated. Quintessentially Cos d’Estournel. The palate is medium-bodied with supple black fruit laced with black truffle and graphite. quite Pauillac-like in style. which is no surprise given its location. This is very focused and perhaps understated compared to the 2016. yet its freshness and vivacity are undeniable. "Streamlined. cool and linear" I wrote at en primeur... I have no reason to alter that sentiment.

93 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Jeb Dunnuck bewertet den Chateau Charmail 2018 Haut Medoc wie folgt:

One of those wines that punches well above its price point, the 2018 Château Charmail comes from the northern part of the Médoc and is a mix of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot brought up in mostly used barrels. Beautiful darker currants and cassis fruits as well as tobacco, chocolate, and damp earth give way to medium to full-bodied 2018 with a plush, rounded texture, a terrific mid-palate, silky tannins, and a great finish. It's a gorgeous wine and I think even a step up over the 2016. Enjoy bottles any time over the coming 10-12 years.

One of the sleepers in Saint-Émilion. Pressac is once again striking in 2016. Big and vertical in feel. with tremendous fruit density. the 2016 has a lot to offer. Inky dark fruit. graphite. menthol. plum and lavender mesh together in this dark. potent wine. The 2016 is wonderfully fresh and also quite structured. Readers will have to be patient. as it will be a few years before all the wine starts to drink well. As always. Cabernet Franc. Cabernet Sauvignon. Malbec and Carmenère play an important role in shaping the personality of one of Bordeaux's most unique and intriguing wines. The 2016 spent 18 months in oak. 50% new. Alain Raynaud consults. Tasted three times.

Even better from bottle than it was from barrel. the 2015 Fonplégade is absolutely gorgeous. Rich and sumptuous. but superbly refined. the 2015 exudes class. The dark cherry. plum. espresso. rose petal and blood orange notes open up effortlessly. Time in the glass brings out the wine's underlying brightness. tension and energy. Everything about the 2015 speaks to balance. This is a superb showing from proprietors Stephen and Denise Adams and their team. which includes both Stéphane Derenoncourt and Michel Rolland.

Made almost exclusively from Merlot with just a 5% splash of Cabernet Franc. the 2015 Fonplegade is deep garnet-purple in color with a very pretty nose of red and black currants. wild thyme. charcuterie. earth and floral notes plus a fair amount of cedary notions in the background. Medium to full-bodied. it's wonderfully elegant. fine and fresh in the mouth with arresting purity and depth. finishing just a little woody. The aromas of blackberries. cedar. sandalwood and black tea are compelling. Black olives. Rosemary and sage undertones. Full-bodied. rich and powerful Seña with impressive and powerful tannins. yet harmony and balance. Fruit-forward. Lightly chewy. Fresh and energetic wine in a hot year. Broad-shouldered. Drink after 2022.

96+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Sena Valle de Aconcagua 2017Verkostungsnotiz von Luis Gutiérrez vom 30. August 2019:

They explained how the 2017 Seña was produced with "grapes that were handpicked in the morning and transported to the winery in 12-kilogram boxes for a careful inspection on a double sorting table. The grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks at 25 to 31 degrees Celsius (77 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit). depending on the variety and the level of extraction desired. Three pump-overs were carried out daily during fermentation to rotate the volume of the tank 0.5 to 1.5 times. Total maceration time ranged from 15 to 30 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot. Malbec and Carmenère and eight to 12 days for the Petit Verdot. according to the development of each block vinified. The final blend was racked to French oak barrels (67% new) and aged for 22 months. during which time malolactic fermentation and stabilization occurred naturally." They harvested early and managed to keep the same alcohol level as the 2016. This has less aromatic exuberance and is a more serious vintage with good concentration and weight. not as aerial as the 2016. They increased the amount of wine matured in larger 2.500-liter foudres instead of barrique. This is more powerful. structured and concentrated. like a drier version of the 2015. with some grainy tannins. more acidity. more austerity and less primary fruit. The tannins have some grip (the earlier harvest perhaps?) and might need a little bit of time in bottle. and the wine seems to have what it takes to develop nicely in bottle. They produced 120.000 bottles of this. It was bottled in February and March 2019. Just for the record. the varietal breakdown is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon. 15% Malbec. 15% Carmenère. 10% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. reflecting a good year for Carmenère and Cabernet Franc.

So aromatic and fresh with dried flowers, sweet tobacco and hints of straw. Red fruit, cloves and green peppercorns. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins that are very fresh and refined. Fine, silky and beautiful. Hints of minerals and granite to the dark fruit. Such gorgeous length and beauty. 64% carmenere, 18% cabernet franc and 18% merlot. Extremely long and poised. Cooler wine. From biodynamically grown grapes. Delicious to drink already, but another three to four years will make it even better.

Clos Apalta 2018 Valle de Apalta mit 96 Punkten vom Wine Advocate ausgezeichnetLuis Gutierrez am 31.08.2021:

There is a lot of Carmenere character on the nose of the 2018 Clos Apalta, which was produced with 64% Carmenere, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot, a blend that is similar to the one used in 2016. The wine is not shy at all and hits the scale at 15% alcohol. It's showy, heady, hedonistic, aromatic, full-bodied and lush with abundant velvety tannins and a long and powerful finish where the notes of black peppercorns and tea and tobacco leaves dominate. This might not be a wine for everybody, but fans of the style will love it. 92,748 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2020.

The nose of the 2015 Grange features the wine's characteristic lifted aromas. joined by pronounced American oak influence and bold blackberry fruit. plus hints of red meat. raspberries. asphalt and vanilla. It's dense and concentrated on the palate. full-bodied yet balanced and firm. with a rich. velvety texture and long. plush finish. Don't expect great complexity at this stage—it's much too young to show much more than the primary fruit and oak elements—but this is a Grange that should easily go three or four decades.

Much anticipated vintage for Grange and it is a powerhouse of concentration and complexity. Such complexity. Classic Grange. offering such deep. dark intensity. The palate has immense richness and depth with a super succulent and very long. fleshy. deeply weighted array of dense. velvet-wrapped tannins that run so long. The fruit flavors sit in the blackberry. blood-plum and blueberry zone with succulent. long and assertive structure. carrying through in an utterly seamless mode. The finish is tightly wrenched. in spectacularly powerful style. locking this wine in for a very long haul. Best from 2030.

It's concentrated and rich. the essence of South Australia Shiraz (although it's been lightened by the addition of 5% Cabernet Sauvignon). unleavened by any new oak. Blended of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon gives up bold notions of crushed red and black currants. wild blueberries and blackberry preserves with touches of violets. dark chocolate. cardamom and bay leaves plus a hint of unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied. the palate reveals great elegance and depth. with a beautiful line of finely grained tannins and amazing freshness. finishing long and layered. 3.847 cases produced.

97 Punkte James Suckling für den Inglenook Rubicon 2016 Napa Valley RuterfordVerkostungsnotiz von James Suckling vom 17. Dezember 2018:

This is a powerful and structured red with full body. focused and polished tannins and a long and flavorful finish. It’s very close to the great 2013. A blend of 93 per cent cabernet sauvignon and seven per cent cabernet franc. Needs three or four years to come around.

97 Punkte Vinous für den Inglenook Rubicon 2016 Napa Valley RuterfordVerkostungsnotiz von Anonio Galloni vom Dezember 2018:

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon is a wine of total precision and class. Translucent and energetic. with distinctly mid-weight structure. the 2016 is a wine of reserve. tension and breeding. Shy at first. the 2016 has a lot to offer. but it needs a number of years in bottle to be at its most expressive. Cedar. tobacco. licorice and wild cherry add the closing nuances.

The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Proprietary Red Wine is blended of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot. It opens with compelling chocolate box and licorice scents over a core of black and red currants. warm plums and baking spices with hints of cedar chest and pencil lead. The palate is full-bodied with layers of cassis and kirsch flavors framed by firm. grainy tannins and fabulous freshness. finishing long and spicy. 4.772 cases produced.

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für de Cardinale 2016 Napa ValleyAntonio Galloni am 31. Dezember 2018:

The 2016 Cardinale is distinctly aromatic and nuanced. In 2016. winemaker Chris Carpenter built Cardinale around a core of Spring Mountain fruit. Perhaps for that reason. Cardinale is a bit more refined in the early going than is often the case. Silky. fine-grained tannins and mid-weight structure frame expressive dark cherry. plum. chocolate and new leather. but it is really the wine's overall feel that stands out most. A dollop of Merlot adds to a feeling of openness in this super-expressive Cardinale from winemaker Chris Carpenter. A range of sites in Stags Leap. Howell Mountain. Diamond Mountain. Mt. Veeder and St. Helena round out the blend.

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard 2018 Mundus Bacillus Terrae -VORVERKAUF-

VORVERKAUF

The 2018 Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae started with a marked creamy and lactic note, reflecting a very young and tender wine that started with a lot of malic acid. It has lower alcohol and higher acidity than the other two Adrianna bottlings; it's vibrant and lively, nicely textured and surprisingly fresh. The creamy and lactic note disappeared after some time in the glass, giving way to fresher notes, almost citrus. They have also done a selection of individual plants, discarding some plants in lower parts, and the wine has gained in precision and freshness. They used a high percentage of full clusters and fermented it in concrete with indigenous yeasts and matured it in used oak barrels for 18 months. In 2018, the three Adrianna bottlings have more defined character; the differences are more marked than in a year like 2017. This has to be among the finest vintages for the Mundus Bacillus Terrae. 4,800 bottles were filled in November 2019.

98 Sucklingpunkte für denJames Suckling am 2. April 2020 über den Mundus Bacillus Terrae 2018:

This is a really deep, decadent red, showing incredibly rich black soil, black olives and violets. Full body and rich tannins that exude power and intensity. Lots of white pepper and black fruit in the aftertaste. Extremely persistent. This is a bottle for the cellar. Try after 2024.

April 2021:

Aromas of blackberries, grilled meat, blackcurrants and wet earth. Full-bodied, tight and compact with dense dark berries and currants. Linear and long with a tight, focused palate. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and malbec. Drink after 2022.

Catena Zapata Nicolas 2018 mit 96 Punkten vom Wine Advocate bewertetbewertet am 31 März 2021:

The 2018 Nicolás Catena Zapata was produced with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon from Gualtallary (Adrianna vineyard, with the Cabernet Sauvignon interplanted with some Cabernet Franc) and 35% Malbec from Altamira (Nicasia vineyard). They no longer use grapes from Agrelo, and this is also a lot higher in Malbec than in other recent vintages. So, it has a very different profile, a change that started in 2017, with more contained ripeness and more freshness, and the wine is intense, keeping some of the Cabernet character (tobacco, blackberries) and the floral notes from Malbec. It comes through as balanced and harmonious, with very fine tannins and a long finish and perfect ripeness. This aims to revive the style of Bordeaux before phylloxera, from massal selection of ungrafted vines... 62,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2019.

98 Sucklingpunkte für denVerkostungsnotiz von James Suckling vom 4. Dezember 2020:

This is a plush, rich Cheval with blueberry and floral aromas and flavors. HInts of tar and fresh lavender. Full body. The depth and richness are impressive, as are the ripe yet fresh tannins. Very long and structured, yet controlled and in balance. This will be a great wine indeed. Release in September 2021. Drink after 2023.
