Shaw & Smith Pinot Noir 2018 Adelaide Hills je Flasche 25.50€

The 2018 vintage has a concentrated core of red berry fruits including raspberries and cherries. It is vibrant and more opulent than other years.

Outstanding quality from a growing season that threatened, at times, to be tricky. After some heat in January. the moderate. dry and sunny months of February and March delivered beautifully balanced fruit. Crop levels were slightly below average, enhancing flavour and intensity.

Pinot Noir is the most temperamental of varieties and remains a challenge for site, season and winemaking - Shaw + Smith has joined the quest albeit in a ‘small batch’ way. First produced experimentally in 2004 and commercially in 2007. Site selection, the right clonal mix, minuscule yields and fastidious vineyard management are essential to success.

The 2021 Shiraz is ever the silky, svelte wine, never more than in this elegant, restrained vintage. It has cool, mineral detail overlaid by bright blue fruits and exotic spice. The tannins are very fine and serve to shape the fruit rather than intrude. It is perfumed, supple and seamless. It has by far the best concentration and complexity of all the vintages tasted here today (2015-2021). It has notes of raspberry, mulberry, licorice, beetroot, cranberry and redcurrant as well as white pepper, clove and star anise. Lovely wine here! It has sweet oak and is perfumed and shapely. Good! 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

95 Sucklingpunkte für denVerkostungsnotiz James Suckling vom 02. Juli 2020:

Very attractive blueberries and dark plums here with earthy and spicy aromas, as well as black pepper. The palate is filled with fleshy fruit and has dark-cherry, cherry-liqueur and dark-chocolate flavors in abundance. Long flavors, plush smooth tannins and certainly a richer iteration of this wine. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

schreibt der in Australien beheimatete Master of Wine Andrew Caillard.

This is such a beautifully crafted Adelaide Hills chardonnay! Complex, flinty nose with notes of toasted baguette, lime zest, Asian pear and fresh pineapple. I love the underplayed power on the very focused, medium-bodied palate. Fine tannins underline the long and intense wet-stone finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Tyrrells Wines Chardonnay Vat 47 Hunter Valley
NEU

Best Ever !!!
The 2021 Vat 47 Chardonnay is sourced from vines planted in the HVD (Hunter Valley Distilling) vineyard by Murray Tyrrell in 1968. (Chardonnay plantings went through a significant boom in Australia at around this time. Early cuttings of Old Foundation Block [UC Davis] clone was first planted in the Swan Research Station vineyard in 1957 and was released for sale in 1964 (later planted up at Gingin, hence the current name), with Tyrrell's in 1968. In 1969, the I10v1 clone arrived in Victoria and was widely planted. These early movements gave way to a proper planting boom in the 1970s, and by 1980, "Australian Chardonnay" in all its (rather unfortunate) 1980s stylistic excess was in full swing.) Back to this wine. Tightly wound and showing the cool balance of the 2021 vintage to great effect, this has curried mango, white peach, saltbush and brine mingling on the nose, while the palate gives way to a glassy polish and juicy acid line in the mouth. It's a super impressive wine, all the more so given I recently tasted a 2013, which seemed to have not aged a day. Not one single day. Timeless. A conservative score with a "plus," knowing there is much room to move (upward).

Penfolds Grange 2014 BIN 95 Shiraz South Australia

98 Parker Punkte für den Penfolds Grange 2014 BIN 95 Shiraz South AustraliaJoe Czerwinski beschreibt den Penfolds Grange 2013 am 04.Oktober 2018 wie folgt:

Rich. concentrated and intense, the 2014 Grange delivers exactly what we've come to expect from this Penfolds icon wine. It's full-bodied, velvety in feel and loaded with plummy fruit, framed in vanilla and cedar. Dense, powerful and tannic, it should prove to be long lived, even by Grange standards. Gago doesn't rate the vintage overall that highly, but he says the selection this year for Grange was a bit more stringent and that production levels were just average. There are still over 1.000 cases for the United States.

98+ Puntke vom Wine Advocate für den Penfolds Grange 2015 BIN 95 Shiraz South AustraliaVerkostungsnotiz von Joe Czwerinski vom 08. August 2019:

The nose of the 2015 Grange features the wine's characteristic lifted aromas. joined by pronounced American oak influence and bold blackberry fruit. plus hints of red meat. raspberries. asphalt and vanilla. It's dense and concentrated on the palate. full-bodied yet balanced and firm. with a rich. velvety texture and long. plush finish. Don't expect great complexity at this stage—it's much too young to show much more than the primary fruit and oak elements—but this is a Grange that should easily go three or four decades.

100 Punkte James Suckling für den Penfolds Grange 2015 BIN 95 Shiraz South AustraliaVerkostungsnotiz von James Suckling vom 06. August 2019:

Much anticipated vintage for Grange and it is a powerhouse of concentration and complexity. Aromas of orange and lemon peel to start. then graphite. blackberries. plum paste. black cherries. boundless sweet oak spice. fresh cedar. tar. mahogany. roasted coffee and chocolate - the list goes on. Such complexity. Classic Grange. offering such deep. dark intensity. The palate has immense richness and depth with a super succulent and very long. fleshy. deeply weighted array of dense. velvet-wrapped tannins that run so long. The fruit flavors sit in the blackberry. blood-plum and blueberry zone with succulent. long and assertive structure. carrying through in an utterly seamless mode. The finish is tightly wrenched. in spectacularly powerful style. locking this wine in for a very long haul. Best from 2030.
