Shaw & Smith Pinot Noir 2018 Adelaide Hills je Flasche 25.50€

The 2018 vintage has a concentrated core of red berry fruits including raspberries and cherries. It is vibrant and more opulent than other years.

Outstanding quality from a growing season that threatened, at times, to be tricky. After some heat in January. the moderate. dry and sunny months of February and March delivered beautifully balanced fruit. Crop levels were slightly below average, enhancing flavour and intensity.

Pinot Noir is the most temperamental of varieties and remains a challenge for site, season and winemaking - Shaw + Smith has joined the quest albeit in a ‘small batch’ way. First produced experimentally in 2004 and commercially in 2007. Site selection, the right clonal mix, minuscule yields and fastidious vineyard management are essential to success.

Shaw & Smith Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2017 mit 96 SucklingpunktenVerkostungsnotiz James Suckling vom 02. Juli 2020:

A cooler vintage has bent this to a peppery and spicy zone with a very fragrant, sappy delivery of bright raspberries, red plums and blackberries. Oak bolsters the spicy direction of the fruit here. The palate has a succulent and mouthwateringly fresh core of red fruit with sleek and long, polished tannins. Red-cherry and plum finish. Drink now. Screw cap.

95 Sucklingpunkte für denVerkostungsnotiz James Suckling vom 02. Juli 2020:
Very attractive blueberries and dark plums here with earthy and spicy aromas, as well as black pepper. The palate is filled with fleshy fruit and has dark-cherry, cherry-liqueur and dark-chocolate flavors in abundance. Long flavors, plush smooth tannins and certainly a richer iteration of this wine. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Style: Shaw + Smith Shiraz is a medium bodied cool-climate Shiraz, in which balance is more important than power.
The 2018 vintage is defined by balance and effortless flow. It was a great season for Shiraz with generosity, but structure to match.

Season: Outstanding quality from a growing season that threatened, at times, to be tricky. After some heat in January, the moderate, dry and sunny months of February and March delivered beautifully balanced fruit. Crop levels were slightly below average, enhancing flavour and intensity.

Source: From low yielding vines predominantly at Balhannah in the central Adelaide Hills, and from Echunga and Macclesfield to the south.

Vinification: Hand picked and fermented as a combination of whole berries and whole bunches in open fermenters, with gentle plunging and minimal working. Aged in French oak for fourteen months, of which one third was new.

Penfolds Grange 2014 BIN 95 Shiraz South Australia

98 Parker Punkte für den Penfolds Grange 2014 BIN 95 Shiraz South AustraliaJoe Czerwinski beschreibt den Penfolds Grange 2013 am 04.Oktober 2018 wie folgt:

Rich. concentrated and intense, the 2014 Grange delivers exactly what we've come to expect from this Penfolds icon wine. It's full-bodied, velvety in feel and loaded with plummy fruit, framed in vanilla and cedar. Dense, powerful and tannic, it should prove to be long lived, even by Grange standards. Gago doesn't rate the vintage overall that highly, but he says the selection this year for Grange was a bit more stringent and that production levels were just average. There are still over 1.000 cases for the United States.

98+ Puntke vom Wine Advocate für den Penfolds Grange 2015 BIN 95 Shiraz South AustraliaVerkostungsnotiz von Joe Czwerinski vom 08. August 2019:

The nose of the 2015 Grange features the wine's characteristic lifted aromas. joined by pronounced American oak influence and bold blackberry fruit. plus hints of red meat. raspberries. asphalt and vanilla. It's dense and concentrated on the palate. full-bodied yet balanced and firm. with a rich. velvety texture and long. plush finish. Don't expect great complexity at this stage—it's much too young to show much more than the primary fruit and oak elements—but this is a Grange that should easily go three or four decades.

100 Punkte James Suckling für den Penfolds Grange 2015 BIN 95 Shiraz South AustraliaVerkostungsnotiz von James Suckling vom 06. August 2019:

Much anticipated vintage for Grange and it is a powerhouse of concentration and complexity. Aromas of orange and lemon peel to start. then graphite. blackberries. plum paste. black cherries. boundless sweet oak spice. fresh cedar. tar. mahogany. roasted coffee and chocolate - the list goes on. Such complexity. Classic Grange. offering such deep. dark intensity. The palate has immense richness and depth with a super succulent and very long. fleshy. deeply weighted array of dense. velvet-wrapped tannins that run so long. The fruit flavors sit in the blackberry. blood-plum and blueberry zone with succulent. long and assertive structure. carrying through in an utterly seamless mode. The finish is tightly wrenched. in spectacularly powerful style. locking this wine in for a very long haul. Best from 2030.
