Chateaz Saintayme 2015 mit 93 Punkten bei James SucklingJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Saintayme 2015 am 02.02.2018 wie folgt:

A juicy and delicious red with red tile, plums and cherries. Full body, round tannins and a long and juicy finish. Absurdly good for the price. Love it. Drink now or hold. Better in 2020.

91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Saintayme 2015Neal Martin bewertet im Februar 2018 wie folgt:

The 2015 Saintayme has become perhaps the most opulent 2015 from Denis Durantou, with copious blackberry and raspberry coulis scents intermingling with vanilla and a touch of violet. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy tannin, finely structured with great depth. It maybe does not quite have the persistence of the Les Cruzelles and La Chenade, but I strongly suspect that it will repay a couple of years in bottle. Maybe this has something up its sleeve? It will be fascinating to plot this Saint-Émilion’s progress.

The 2016 Saintayme is quite deep in color. The bouquet unfurls gradually to reveal blackberry, briar and light cedar aromas, all gentle and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry, a slightly chalky texture and a fine bead of acidity. This is a more masculine Saintayme compared to other vintages, displaying more grip and salinity toward the finish. I suspect that, given its amazing value, this will be consumed early, but personally, I would stash it away for three or four years, because it has more to give.

91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:
The 2016 Saintayme has a medium garnet-purple color and opens with cedary scents over a core of black and red plums, kirsch and unsmoked cigars plus a touch of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied and packed with savory layers, it has a solid frame of grainy tannins and a nice, long finish.

Beautiful aromas of blackberries and blueberries with licorice. Medium-bodied, juicy and delicious with lots of succulent fruit and a hazelnut and berry aftertaste. Delicious already. Drink or hold.

The 2016 Tour Saint-Christophe is made up of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It was aged in 40% new, 40% one-year-old and 20% two-year-old oak for 18 months. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it sings of roses, chocolate-covered cherries, redcurrant jelly and cinnamon stick with touches of cigar box and forest floor. Big, full-bodied and richly fruited yet with great tension, it has a compellingly perfumed palate and gorgeous velvety texture with great persistence. 5,000 cases produced.

94+ Vinous Punkte für den Tour Saint Christophe 2016Neal Martin im Januar 2019:

The 2016 Tour Saint Christophe has a wonderful, beautifully defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, crushed stone and hints of pressed flowers, all very focused and delineated. The palate is well balanced, with fine but quite firm tannins and well-judged acidity, and very persistent toward the finish. I appreciate the harmony and intensity of this Tour Saint Christophe. A wonderful Saint-Émilion from "team Kwok"!

93 Punkte Vinous / Galloni für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2016Antonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2016 im Januar 2019 wie folgt:

The 2016 Tour Saint Christophe is a potent, tightly wound wine that is going to need quite a bit of time to be at its best. That is surprising, as the 2016 was quite a bit more sensual en primeur. Even so, the 2016 is a gorgeous, hugely promising Saint-Émilion. Dark red cherry, plum, espresso, leather and tobacco build as this beautifully layered wine gradually reveals its many charms. There is so much to look forward to, once the tannins soften a bit.

Made almost exclusively from Merlot with just a 5% splash of Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Fonplegade is deep garnet-purple in color with a very pretty nose of red and black currants, wild thyme, charcuterie, earth and floral notes plus a fair amount of cedary notions in the background. Medium to full-bodied, it's wonderfully elegant, fine and fresh in the mouth with arresting purity and depth, finishing just a little woody. Give it 3-5 years for the oak to marry and the fruit to come to the forefront, and drink it over the next 10 to 15+ years.

The 2016 Pindefleurs offers good immediacy in a ripe, racy yet mid-weight style. Sweet red cherry, new oak, spice and white chocolate add to the wine's distinctly flamboyant flavor and textural profile. Medium in body and wonderfully persistent, the 2016 has a lot to offer. Bright floral notes add perfume to this engaging, creamy Saint-Émilion. Élevage has done quite a bit to give the wine balance. Specifically, the oak is now far better integrated than it was en primeur. Tasted two times.

Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Pindefleurs im April 2017:
The 2016 Pindefleurs is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has a well-defined and harmonious bouquet that dishes out some wonderful black cherry and redcurrant fruit, the new oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, beautifully balanced with a structured, tobacco-tinged finish that is almost Médoc-like in style. The 2016 Bellevue is dense and powerful, but also quite reticent following its bottling this past June. Dark and virile, the 2016 is going to need at least a few years to come into its own. The intensity and volume the wine showed en primeur are very much in evidence, but also presently enshrouded by a wall of potent tannins. Gravel, smoke, game, leather and tobacco give the 2016 much of its savory character. I loved Bellevue from barrel, but it is far less showy from bottle.

97 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Bellevue 2016 Saint EmilionJames Suckling im Februar 2019:

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Bellevue 2016Vinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Bellevue has retained the attractive bouquet evident when in barrel: quite rich in style but well defined, offering ample, luscious red cherry, mulberry and pressed iris aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with lush tannin, impressive depth and freshness and just the right amount of salinity toward the finish. This has gained a little panache during its élevage, and it comes highly recommended. Excellent.

The 2016 La Gaffelière is superb. Vivid and precise, with layers of nuance, the 2016 is a wine of real clarity. Blood orange, lavender, rose petal and mint add brightness to this stunningly beautiful Saint-Émilion. La Gaffelière is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, and it is the Franc that gives the wine so much character and complexity. This is just an irresistibly captivating Saint-Émilion. Stéphane Derenoncourt and Simon Blanchard consult.

95+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau La Gaffeliere 2016 Saint Emilion Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 La Gaffeliere opens with compelling wild blueberries, freshly crushed plums and kirsch scents plus hints of garrigue, underbrush, rose hip tea and pencil lead. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant with a soft, velvety texture and seamless freshness carrying the multilayered fruit to a long finish.

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau La Gaffeliere 2016 Saint EmilionVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

This is really decadent and rich with great aromas of earth, spice, frost flowers and fresh mushrooms that follow through to a full body, firm and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Very, very serious from here. A blend of 70 per cent merlot and 30 per cent cabernet franc. Try after 2025.

The 2016 Larcis Ducasse is absolutely gorgeous. Fresh, vibrant and alluring, with tremendous vibrancy, the 2016 has so much to offer. Expressive savory and blood orange notes add brightness to the red cherry and plum fruit, with beams of firm yet well-integrated tannins that give the wine its shape and energy. In 2016, Larcis brings together undeniable raciness and power in a complete package that is irresistibly beautiful. Give it a few years in bottle for the tannins to soften.

96 Parker Punkte für den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2016 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Larcis Ducasse sashays gracefully out of the glass with beautiful Black Forest cake, red cherry compote, raspberry preserves and blackberry pie scents plus hints of cigar box, Ceylon tea, dried lavender and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers gorgeous red and black fruit preserves flavors with a wonderfully plush texture and very long, perfumed finish.

99 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2016 Saint EmilionJames Suckling Februar 2019:

The aromas here are so spellbinding with shitake mushrooms, wet earth and moss, as well as tree bark and, finally, dark fruit. The palate is incredible as it builds and grows with full body, but always tight and reserved. It shows so much depth and complexity. Please try not to touch this until 2025.

98 Punkte Vinous / Galloni für den Chateau Pavie Macquin 2016 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Pavie Macquin is a total stunner. Rich, lush and inviting, the 2016 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Sweet red cherry, plum, rose petal, lavender and mint are all given an extra kick of allure by silky tannins that caress the palate from start to finish. There is a level of precision and nuance here that is simply breathtaking. The purity of the fruit is just mind-boggling.

96 Parker Punkte für den Chateau Pavie Macquin 2016 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Pavie Macquin charges out of the glass with gregarious black cherries, warm blackberries and wild blueberries scents followed up by loads of red roses, baking spices, cedar chest and unsmoked cigars sparks plus a waft of wild thyme. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is an exercise in poise, revealing layer upon layer of cherries and berries flavors and tons of savory nuances, framed by firm yet exquisitely ripe tannins, finishing very long.

97 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Pavie Macquin 2016 Saint EmilionVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

This is very linear and driven with a precise and driven center palate. Full-bodied, tight and compact. Energetic and well formed. Give it at least five years. Try from 2024.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Pavie Macquin 2016Vinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Pavie Maquin, matured in 50% new oak, has a rich, opulent bouquet that doles out layers of black cherry and boysenberry fruit, then finds more refinement and draws everything back once you’ve been seduced. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, grippy in the mouth, with a masculine, minerally finish and a saline aftertaste. Comparing two bottles, one at the London UGC and one at the château, I found that the latter displayed more detail and nuance. 14.5% alcohol.

Chateau Figeac 2016 mit 97+ Parker Punkten bewertetLisa Perrotti Brown 30. November 2018

The 2016 Figeac is comprised of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is a little broody and reticent at this very youthful stage, slowly unfolding to reveal profound plum preserves, crème de cassis, black raspberries and star anise with hints of moss-covered bark, truffles and tilled loam plus a waft of red currants and raspberry leaves sparks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is practically quivering with energy, offering glimpses at tightly wound black fruit and mineral/ferrous layers, framed by very firm, ripe tannins and wonderful tension, finishing long with the spices coming through. This will need a good 7-8 years to come round and then should cellar for 40+ years. Very serious, beautifully poised and sophisticated personality this vintage.

“There was a little more water stress in 2016 than in 2018,” Frédéric Faye mentioned. “The cooler nights here helped us to avoid too much water stress this year. We are not de-leafing a lot now—just on one side to expose the grapes to the morning sun, but we do not de-leaf on the afternoon sun side, where it can get very hot.” Figeac continues along its upward trajectory in terms of heights of greatness and consistency. Faye has adeptly managed to maintain the energy in the wines that is a signature of Figeac while revealing more layers, polishing the tannins and, ultimately, offering slightly more muscle to the fruit core. Once his considerable efforts in the vineyards really kick in and the new winery is completed, I am incredibly excited to see what the future holds for this historic, truly special place.

100 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Figeac 2016Neal Martin im Januar 2019:

The 2016 Figeac was bottled at the end of July 2018, since Frédéric Faye wanted to give the wine more time in barrel to develop more harmony. The stunning 24-carat bouquet rivets you to the spot with brilliant delineation and mineral-rich red fruit that articulates its terroir as well as any Right Bank you will find. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin, perfect acidity, wonderfully integrated new oak and enormous depth toward the fresh, pencil-box- and cedar-infused finish. This is a classic Figeac, up there with the 1947 and 1949, both recently re-tasted and testifying to a wine that genuinely belongs among the elite Saint-Émilions. Faye believes it is the best Figeac he has ever made. He is correct.

98+ Punkte bei Vinous für den Chateau Figeac 2016 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Figeac is simply extraordinary. A wine of pure energy and vitality, the 2016 pulses with a real sense of drive. Lavender, mint, crème de cassis and cedar start to develop in the glass, but what is most remarkable about the 2016 is its total sense of harmony. There is natural tension, a sort of push and pull, between the wine's intense fruit and structural underpinnings that makes the 2016 a marvel to taste and contemplate. It was positively stunning in two separate tastings. Technical Director Frédéric Faye and his team made an epic Figeac in 2016.

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Figeac 2016 Saint EmilionVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

This is a very linear and driven Figeac with smooth and fine tannins. Full-bodied, yet compact and reserved. Blackberry, chocolate and hazelnut flavors. Direct and structured. A blend of 38 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 36 per cent merlot, and 26 per cent cabernet franc. Better after 2024.

Chateau Canon 2016 mit 98+ Punkten bei Robert ParkerLisa Perrotti Brown 30. November 2018

Composed of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc and aged for 18 months in 70% new French barriques, the 2016 Canon is medium to deep garnet-purple in color, and—WOW—it opens with the most stunning perfume of violets, red roses and kirsch, giving way to a core of black cherry preserves, chocolate box, licorice, warm plums and Chinese five spice plus an earthy waft of underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely filled with expressive, perfumed black berry layers accented by lively red fruits and exotic spices, supported by impressively fine-grained tannins and fantastic tension, finishing very long with jaw-dropping energy. Tasted three times, I had one opportunity to taste the 2015 and 2016 Canon side by side. While I love the bold, rich, seductive nature of the 2015, this 2016 kicks it up a notch in terms of polish, precision, depth and persistence. Most notably, the superbly ripe, exquisitely fine-grained tannins on this 2016 bring to the table a whole other level of sophistication. Bravo!

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Canon 2016 Saint EmilionNeal Martin Verkostungsnotiz aus Januar 2019:

The 2016 Canon has the unenviable task of following the astonishing 2015, and it does a damn good job, even if it doesn’t reach the same ethereal heights. There is a pleasing strictness and poise on the nose; this is less immediate than the 2015, yet intellectual, a Canon that expresses its terroir rather than tons of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, a smooth texture and a slightly savory but persistent finish, which feels a little plusher than the 2015, implying that this might drink a little earlier. But there is unquestionably immense breeding locked into this rejuvenated Saint-Émilion, which is now firmly ensconced among the top-flight Right Banks.

97 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Canon 2016 Saint EmilionJames Suckling im Februar 2019:

Complex aromas of blackberries, iodine, oyster shell and wet earth. Ever so perfumed. Full-bodied, yet reserved and tight with very silky tannins that are energized and minerally. Takes off at the end. The freshness lifts it. Try after 2024.

The 2016 de Fonbel is a soft, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit is nicely pushed forward in this succulent, easygoing Saint-Émilion from the Vauthier family.

91 Parker Punkte für den Chateau de Fonbel 2016 Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Composed of 70% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 7% Carménère, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Fonbel has a classic nose of warm red plums, cigar box and black plums with nuances of redcurrants, Sichuan pepper and tar. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a lot of mid-palate fruit with lovely plush tannins and a long refreshing finish.
