Aromas and flavors of dark fruit, plums, mushrooms, pine cones, cedar and tile. Full-bodied, yet reserved, with ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate. So layered and beautiful. Hints of crushed stone and deep earth on the finish. Steely at the end. Give this time. Try after 2025.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Trotte Vieille 2019 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Trotte Vieille 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Trotte Vieille is burly, deep and powerful, not to mention loaded with character. Espresso, chocolate, iron, leather, licorice and sweet spice add to an impression of virile power and intensity. Big, strapping tannins add to an impression of muscle. The 2019 needs time, but it is a hugely promising wine. It is also one of the most tannic wines in Saint-Émilion.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Trotte Vieille 2019 Saint EmilionNeal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Trotte Vieille 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Trotte Vieille has closed up a little on the nose, yet there are still very attractive black cherries and iodine scents on the nose that gradually unfold with aeration. A touch of fresh fig appears in the background. The well-balanced palate delivers pure blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with graphite and minerals. Almost Left Bank in style, this shows great clarity and fans out wonderfully on the finish. Superb.

93 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Trotte Vieille 2019 Saint EmilionFür den Wine Spectator verköstigte James Molesworth denChateau Trotte Vieille 2019 Saint Emilion:

This delivers a very forthright beam of dark currant, plum and blackberry fruit flavors that show a distinct roasted edge, while singed tobacco leaf, juniper and cedar notes fill in through the finish. A touch austere in the end, though there's depth and length here. Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2024 through 2037. 3,000 cases made.

94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Berliquet 2019 Saint EmilionThe 2019 Berliquet is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, sweet spices, violets and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant, with terrific depth at the core, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. It's produced from a 9.5-hectare vineyard that encompasses three soil types: Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau (like its sibling, Château Canon); the slope, characterized by deep clay; and then sandy, colluvial soils at the foot of the slope. Right now it's planted with 70% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc, but the percentage of the latter is increasing as replanting progresses.

93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denVerkostungsnotiz von Lisa Perotti Brown vom März 2021:

The 2018 Badette comes from the lieu-dit Badette in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. The blend is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The wine was aged in 50% new and 50% second year oak barrels for around 18 months. Deep garnet-purple colored, it charges out of the gate with bold notions of stewed black plums, Christmas pudding and Black Forest cake, followed by hints of Chinese five spice, woodsmoke and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate has impressive freshness countering the densely packed black fruit preserves flavors, framed by ripe, rounded tannins, finishing on a lingering exotic spice note. The alcohol weighed in at 14% this year.

94 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Jeb Dunnuck im März 2021:

This estate continues to fire on all cylinders, and they're produced a beautiful 2018 Château Badette based on 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot aged 18 months in 50% new French oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by rock star notes of blueberries, cassis, candied violets, toasty oak, and graphite. Developing plenty of classic Saint-Emilion chalky minerality with time in the glass, it's medium to full-bodied and has an elegant, pretty texture, stays light on its feet, yet still has impressive concentration as well as building tannins. Buy a case, give bottles 2-4 years, and enjoy over the following decade or more.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denThe 2018 Badette is an exciting wine. Inky blue/purplish fruit, chocolate, licorice, spice, lavender and mocha all blast out of the glass. Unctuous and flamboyant to the core Badette is one of the more overt, opulent wines readers will find in Saint-Émilion and yet it has plenty of supporting vibrancy to play off its richness. All the elements come together so effortlessly. The blend is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.

BEST EVER für den Wineadvocate.

From a beautifully situated hillside vineyard, sandwiched between Larcis Ducasse and Tertre Roteboeuf on either side, with holdings belonging to Pavie and Troplong Mondot on the plateau above, the 2019 Bellefont Belcier has turned out very well indeed. Offering up aromas of smoky berry fruit, loamy soil, subtle spices, black truffle and violets, it's full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with a vibrant, enveloping profile and a long, penetrating finish. This is a terrific effort, though given the thoughtful farming and program of replanting that is underway at this long-neglected estate, I suspect it only hints at what is to come as Jean-Christophe Meyrou and his team get to work.

95 Suckling Punkte für den James Suckling über den Chateau Bellefont-Belcier 2019 Saint Emilion:

Very attractive plum and cherry aromas with hints of flowers and wet earth, following through to a medium to full body with linear, polished tannins and a juicy finish. 94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den 0Antonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Bellefont-Belcier 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Bellefont-Belcier is a wine of tremendous reserve. The 35% Cabernet Franc comes through in the wine's aromatic profile and overall feel. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2019 needs time to come together. It is a seriously impressive wine with tons of character. I have long admired Bellefont-Belcier for its potential. In the past, the tannins were simply overpowering, if the 2019 is any indication, that might be less of an issue going forward.

0The 2019 Bellefont-Belcier was very impressive from barrel, and I have no reason to change that view in bottle. It doesn't have the mid-palate density or opulence of the 2018, but it’s more pretty, focused, and straight on the palate. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Tour Saint Christophe is a fabulous wine that marries fruit intensity and structure. Black cherry, graphite, dried herbs, menthol, licorice and spice give this driving, potent Saint-Émilion tons of character. Tour Saint-Christophe remains one of the greatest values in Bordeaux. Tasted two times.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint EmilionUnd Neal Martin (vinous) zum Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Tour Saint Christophe builds on the promise it showed from barrel. This sample was actually tasted at my home, where I afforded it a two-hour decant. It revealed precocious yet controlled blackberry and blueberry fruit scents, with that violet component still intact. The tannins have not lost any of their grippiness or assertiveness. This is a Saint-Émilion that is in for the long haul. Great potential.

94 Punkte vom Falstaff für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint EmilionDer Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint Emilion am Gaumen der Falstaff-Verköstiger:

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

93-95 Punkte.

Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2018 Saint Emilion mit 97 SucklingpunktenJames Suckling im Januar 2021:

Currant, red-tea, chili, chocolate and lemon-zest aromas. Chalk and crushed gravel, too. It’s medium-bodied with tight, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Sleek and tight with crunchy berry, mineral and zesty notes on the finish. Complex. Pretty center palate to this. Extremely polished. Try from 2025.

94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2018 Saint EmilionA blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged for around 18 months in oak barrels, 40% new, the 2018 Tour Saint Christophe weighs in at 14.6% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out of the glass with bold notions of baked black cherries, plum preserves and blueberry pie plus underlying suggestions of Christmas cake, Chinese five spice and dusty soil. The full-bodied palate packs in the black and blue fruit preserves layers, framed by velvety tannins and lively acidity, finishing long and spicy.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2018 Saint EmilionGALLONI

The 2018 Tour Saint Christophe represents a new level of elegance, precision and finesse for this estate in Saint-Émilion's Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes district. Silky and exceptionally polished, the 2018 oozes class. Moreover, the heavy extraction and strong torrefaction notes that marked previous vintages of the recent past have been replaced by beautifully precise, vibrant fruit. Tour Saint Christophe is one of best values in Saint-Émilion. I haven't always loved Tour Saint Christoph, but I love the 2018. It's a fabulous effort from Technical Director Jérôme Aguirre and his team. Don't miss it.

The 2018 Fonplégade is super-elegant and refined. Some of the youthful exuberance the 2018 showed from barrel has naturally subsided, revealing a Saint-Émilion of real finesse and nuance. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice, blood orange and cinnamon are all beautifully layered. Even so, the 2018 was a bit more impressive en primeur. Hopefully, it is just closed post-bottling. The 2018 Laroque is every bit as impressive as it was from barrel. Silky, polished and refined, the 2018 marks a major step forward for the château. Lavender, spice, blueberry, cedar and mint all grace a Saint-Émilion built more on finesse than power. The long, persistent finish, with its saline accents, adds to the wine's pedigree. The 2018 is beautifully done. The blend is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Technical Director David Suire gave the 2018 lots 26-29 days on the skins fermented in cement, with manual pump-overs and punch-downs. New oak is 55%

Aromas of ripe blackcurrants, spiced cherries, cloves, praline, tea leaves and crushed gravel. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, tightly knit tannins and fresh acidity. Fleshy, chewy layers lead to a long, mineral finish. Late bottling helped here. Try from 2023.

The 2018 Laroque is composed of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged in 50% new barriques. The alcohol is 14.5% and the pH is 3.48. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with flamboyant notes of stewed black plums, Black Forest cake and boysenberries, plus hints of candied violets, star anise and unsmoked cigars with a playful waft of sassafras. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with juicy black fruits, supported by plush tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and fragrant.

96 Punkte bei Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint EmilionJeb Dunnuck beschreibt den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru im April 2019 wie folgt:

This estate is in a cool, limestone terroir on the eastern side of Saint- Emilion, and it's been firing on all cylinders over the past decade, in no small part due to the talented director, David Suire. The 2018 Château Laroque checks in as almost all Merlot (there is 3% Cabernet Franc) that comes from an incredibly strict selection of just 41% of the total production. Brought up in a mix of new and used barrels, it's more about finesse than power, offering a gorgeous perfume of ripe black cherries, mulberries, cassis, violets, spring flowers, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied, pure, and incredibly elegant on the palate, it builds nicely with time in the glass, has ultra-fine tannins, flawlessly integrated tannins, acidity and fruit, and a great finish. It's as classy as they come. Approachable today with a decant, it will drink nicely for 20 years or more. Readers looking for an impeccably made, classic, high-quality Saint-Emilion that doesn't break the bank should back up the truck for this beauty.
