Chateau Chantalouette 2015 Pomerol

A tight and racy red with walnut skin, pecan nuts, chili and spice. Blackberry. Full body, round texture. Chewy. Very promising. Like the great Le Gays from the 1980s.

94-96 Parker Punkte für den Chateau Le Gay 2015 aus Pomerol Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Le Gay im April 2016:

The 2015 Le Gay comes from the 6.5-hectare Pomerol estate, of which 2.09 hectares are currently being restructured. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc picked from 27 September until 8 October at one degree lower alcohol than Montviel; it has a fragrant bouquet with delineated red cherries, crushed strawberry and hints of vanilla from the 100% new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, ripe and rounded in the mouth, very well balanced and very smooth. This just glides across the mouth and once that new oak has been absorbed, this will be a gorgeous Le Gay to behold. Do not overlook this Cru because it has been on a roll in recent years.

18 Punkte beim Weinwisser für den Chateau Le Gay 2015 aus Pomerol Rene Gabriel bewertet den Chateau Le Gay 2015 wie folgt:

90 % Merlot, 10 % Cabernet Franc.

The 2016 La Fleur de Boüard is gorgeous. Sweet, floral notes lift the red berry fruit in this gracious, mid-weight wine. Raspberry, wild flowers, mocha, spice and mint all run through this lithe, silky wine. The 2016 possesses notable silkiness, nuance and finesse. This is a terrific showing.

91+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2016 La Fleur de Boüard sings of warm plums, black cherry compote and wild blueberries with touches of exotic spices and violets plus a waft of underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with bags of black fruit preserves and a plush frame, finishing long and spicy.

91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau La Fleur de Bouard 2016Vinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 La Fleur de Boüard has an attractive bouquet of bilberry and blueberry fruit laced with graphite and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and quite linear in style at the moment. More red fruit develops toward the sappy finish. This is a pleasurable La Fleur de Boüard, although it needs more charm.

97 Parker Punkte für den Chateau Clinet 2016 Pomerol Lisa Perrotti Brown am 30.11.2018

The 2016 Clinet is composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was aged using the Oxoline system, in 70% new and 30% one-year-old barrels for 16 months. It has a deep garnet-purple color with cedar and smoked meats on the nose giving way to black and red plums and earthy notions with wafts of cassis and pencil shavings. The palate is medium to full-bodied, elegant, polished and vivacious with loads of red and black fruit layers and an earthy finish. Around 4,416 cases produced.

96+ Punkt vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Clinet 2016 PomerolVerkostungsnotiz aus Januar 2019:

The 2016 Clinet, a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, was cropped at 49hl/ha and matured in 70% new oak. It has a quintessential Pomerol bouquet of vibrant floral aromas, black cherries and hints of Christmas cake and truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and very harmonious and refined. The sample at the château showed a touch more backbone than the one at the London UGC tastings, offering plenty of blackberry and black olive notes and then turning saline toward the dense, muscular finish. A classy, sophisticated Clinet that will reward those with the nous to cellar it for several years. Outstanding.

95 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Clinet 2016 PomerolVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

Beautiful blue fruit and earth with hints of black truffle, this has a violet and fragrant edge, too. Really complex, youthful impression here. The palate has mouthwatering fruit flavor and terrific sense of fresh energy and cut on the finish. A blend of 90 per cent merlot and ten per cent cabernet sauvignon. Try from 2024.

94 Punkte Vinous / Galloni für den Chateau Le Gay 2016 PomerolAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Le Gay is terrific. Rich, explosive and vertical in feel, the 2016 is a wine of pedigree and real class. Inky blue and purplish fruit, licorice, lavender all race across the palate. From bottle, Le Gay is more a wine of subtlety and vibrancy than pure power. As good as it is, my impression today is that the fruit is a bit dried out. I liked the 2016 more from barrel.

95+ Parker Punkte für den Chateau Le Gay 2016 aus PomerolLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Le Gay has a rock star nose of flamboyant Black Forest cake, crushed redcurrants and lilacs scents with underlying nuances of yeast extract, wood smoke, iron ore and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, the palate truly struts its stuff with generous black and red fruits and a fantastic line of super ripe tannins, building to a very long, seductively perfumed finish.

98 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Le Gay 2016 PomerolJames Suckling Januar 2019:

Exotic aromas of blackberries, truffle, earth and cedar follow through to a full body, rich and layered tannins and a long, long finish. Shows so much here. Exotic. Give it at least three or four years of bottle age. Exuberant. Try from 2023.

Chateau Haut Tropchaud 2016 Pomerol

Close to perfection, this extraordinary blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc seems to have hit all the high notes in 2012. Inky ruby/purple with stunning concentration, a multidimensional mouthfeel, skyscraper-like texture and fabulous purity of blue, red and black fruits, this is a tour de force from this estate owned by Christian Moueix. The potential complexity and sheer compelling quality of Hosanna is amazing. Aromatically, this may be the most profound wine of the vintage. Drink it over the next 15-20 years.

95 Parker Punkte für den Chateau Clinet 2012 PomerolRobert M. Parker Jr. April 2015

With a dense purple color and gorgeous levels of fruit, especially black raspberry and blackcurrant, this full-bodied, opulent style of wine is another great success for Clinet, a château that has been on top of its game for the last decade. This is stunning stuff, and whatever new oak has been used – and there is plenty – it is totally disguised by the luxurious and extravagant fruit level. This full-bodied, opulent Pomerol should drink well for 15 or more years.

Really attractive nose with wild strawberries, raspberries and roses petals. Dark plums and red cherries with some sweet tobacco and black pepper. Full-bodied and intensely juicy on the palate with velvety tannins, and a beautiful finish with licorice and some vanilla from the new wood. So attractive now but leave it alone for four or five years.

93 Punkte Winespectator

This has a dark, slightly chewy edge for now, but the core of crushed plum, blackberry and boysenberry fruit should absorb that with cellaring. Dark ganache and graphite frame the finish, which features a racy, acidic spine. Should unfurl nicely with age. Best from 2015 through 2025. 2,000 cases made. –JM

The 2015 Feytit-Clinet is a wine of dark, brooding intensity. Vertical in its construction, the 2015 exudes power and structure. My sense is that the 2015 is recovering from its relatively recent bottling, as it is a bit closed down today. Even so, the depth and richness the 2015 showed as a barrel sample are still very much in evidence. Black cherry, plum, graphite, smoke, heavy toast and lavender add myriad shades of nuance. In two separate tastings, the 2015 was much less expressive than it was as a barrel sample, which probably bodes very well for its long term future. I wouldn't dream of opening a bottle anytime soon. Tasted two times.

Neal Martin bewertet den Clos L Eglise 2015 Pomerol im April 2016:
The 2015 Clos l'Eglise was picked on 8, 14 and 23 September apropos the Merlot and the Cabernet Franc on 23 September. Co-proprietor Hélène Garçin-Léveque told me that for the first time, Clos l'Eglise was one of the first Pomerols to be picked since they felt that the grapes were fully ripe. So why wait? That clearly is vindicated by the bouquet with ebullient, ripe blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, almost Burgundy-like in terms of its purity. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine, tensile tannin, brimming over with energy, tightly packed towards the more linear finish than usual. This is a Clos l'Eglise built for long-term bottle ageing, though I suspect it will actually come round a little earlier than usual. A wonderful Pomerol, almost understated, but full of personality.

Rene Gabriel bewertet den Clos L Eglise 2015 Pomerol mit:
18 / 20 Punkte
Also; let's see in 10 years.

A very long, linear wine with a full body and a smooth, fresh, blueberry/plum finish. An impressive wine that rolls endlessly through the finish. This has plenty of ageing potential.

Try from 2023.

The 2015 Certan de May is composed of 80% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Cabernet Franc, displaying a medium garnet-purple color and nose of warm red cherries, mulberries, crushed red and black plums and raspberry leaves with nuances of wild thyme, dried roses, cloves and eucalypt. 95 Punkte - Flaschenbewertung

Dense, featuring a loamy edge that runs throughout, while the core of crushed plum, fig and blackberry fruit plays out slowly.
Licorice root and warm stone notes pervade the finish. A bit brooding, but give this time, as the lurking fresh bay, tobacco and
iron elements should develop with age. Best from 2020 through 2035.—J.M.

The 2014 Trotanoy had (que surprise!) closed down on the nose compared to its JP Moueix stablemates. A few swirls of the glass and it reveals very precise, mineral-soaked black fruit laced with black truffle and subtle sous-bois aromas. It soon gathers momentum and the aromas were gaining more and more intensity after five minutes. The palate is outstanding. There is brilliant structure here, immense and almost staggering purity, incredible focus and tension with an electrifying spiciness on the finish. Best Pomerol of the vintage? The only thing wrong with that last sentence is the question mark at the end.

Breathtaking aromas of perfectly ripe fruit with blackberries, black olives, licorice, cedar and sweet tobacco.
Full body, incredible depth and power, yet this is always in reserve and check.
Everything is in the right place for this new legend from Trotanoy.
Try it in 2026.
Will age for decades in the future.

Composed of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Trotanoy reveals a medium to deep garnet-purple color and comes prancing out of the glass with the most striking black fruit preserves, plum pudding, red currant jelly and blueberry compote notions, followed up by nuances of rose petals, chocolate box, licorice and menthol plus a waft of wild mushrooms. Full-bodied, rich and decadent, it fills the palate with generous perfumed black and blue fruit layers with a seductive frame of velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and very minerally.

Chateau Trotanoy 2015 Pomerol mit 98 Punkten bei VinousAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Trotanoy 2015 aus Pomerol wie folgt:

The 2015 Trotanoy is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage. In 2015, Trotanoy captures all the intensity of the year in its ample, full-bodied frame, and yet there is more than enough structure, energy and minerality to play off the wine's more overt leanings. A rush of black cherry, plum, graphite, leather, smoke and game punctuate the huge, tannic finish. What a wine!

Chateau Hosanna 2015 Pomerol mit 98 Punkten bei James SucklingJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Hosanna 2015 am 02.02.2018 wie folgt:

This has the wow factor; it's very impressive.
The nose is saturated with dark, rich plums and wet-earth aromas, not to mention the roasted-coffee and crushed-violet undertones.
The palate has polished, lustrous appeal, and dark plums and ripe blueberry flavors abound.
Long, deep-set tannins with incredible depth. This has x-factor depth and elegance.

Best from 2025.

A blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Hosanna had a medium garnet-purple color, charging out of the glass with an exotic perfume of smoked meats, truffles, sandalwood and Indian spices over a compelling core of cherry cordial, blackberry tart and blueberry compote plus suggestions of garrigue and rose hip tea. The full-bodied palate is absolutely laden with taut, muscular black and blue fruits, with a solid frame of grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with languidly lingering licorice and spice flavors. Incredibly seductive and just plain delicious right now, hedonists can enjoy this captivating wine while it’s relatively young, while traditionalists can wait ten years and drink it over the next 25 years or more.
