Chateau La Faurie Maison Neuve 2020 Lalande de Pomerol

Chateau La Faurie Maison Neuve 2019 Lalande de Pomerol.

Coming from a mix of gravel and clay soils and based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 Château Bourgneuf has closed down considerably since I tasted it out of barrel. It offers a firmer, more focused, structured style that needs lots of air to show at its best. Ripe black fruits, spicy oak, graphite, and smoked tobacco define the bouquet, and it's tight and backward on the palate, with good extract and length. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, at which point it will evolve nicely for 15 years. Tasted twice.

A ripe but understated style, with alluring notes of black tea and cedar shavings infusing a core of gently mulled black cherry and plum fruit. The sneaky long finish is silky and refined. I continue to absolutely love the wines from this Pomerol château, and their Grand Vin always brings a richness and depth that makes it a joy to drink. Coming from a larger vineyard near Petrus, La Fleur Petrus, and Le Gay, the dense purple hue of the 2020 Château Gazin is followed by a rocking bouquet of ripe black cherries, currants, melted chocolate, roasted herbs, and earth. Full-bodied, deep, opulent, and concentrated, give this gorgeous 2020 4-6 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following 25+.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Gazin 2020Das meint die Vinous-Mannschaft um Antonio Galloni zum Chateau Gazin:
The 2020 Gazin, which contains no Cabernet Franc this year, has a wonderful bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, crushed stone and pressed iris petal scents, very focused and precise, that really whisks you down to Pomerol. The medium-bodied palate displays fine-grained tannins and a silver bead of acidity. Very sapid with a little more dryness on the finish than its peers, which gets the saliva flowing. Classic Pomerol through and through.

Full-bodied, broad and rich, with a layered mid-palate underpinned by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully firm finish, it's impressively balanced for a wine at 15% alcohol, but it remains a rather burly, powerful Clinet.

One of the best kept secrets in Pomerol is the quality of the wines from Jeremy Chasseuil's tiny estate located between Trotanoy and Latour à Pomerol, just across the street from the Clinet sector. Coming from a 6.32-hectare parcel and a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 Château Feytit-Clinet sports a dense purple hue to go with blockbuster aromatics of ripe black cherries, cassis, chocolaty oak, leafy herbs, and damp earth. Full-bodied and concentrated, with remarkable purity and ultra-fine tannins, this utterly brilliant Pomerol will benefit from 4-6 years of bottle age and will evolve for 20-25 years or more if well-stored.

A deep, concentrated Pomerol charged with plush blackberries, iodine, cocoa beans and dark mushrooms. Full-bodied, rich, deep and sensuous, here you find all the truffles, chocolate, flowers and silky, dark pit fruits you can ask for. On the palate, layer after layer of chocolate-coated black plums and cherries with a touch of spice and wet earth start off strong and end up even stronger, due to its freshness, length and sensuality. A big, explosive beast of a wine, the 2020 Château Hosanna comes from a small 11-acre vineyard of gravelly, clay soils and it's 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Decadent red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, loamy earth, chocolate, and some meaty, iron-like nuances all emerge on the nose, and this round, full-bodied, expansive Pomerol has a great mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish. An initial burst of sweet red-toned fruit is promising, but the 2019 is a bit lacking in the mid-palate, and that seems to allow the oak to stick out. Lagrange is certainly a pleasant wine, but its charms are best enjoyed on the young side.

92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Und Neal Martin (Vinous) beschreibt den Chateau Lagrange 2019 Pomerol:
I’ve criticized many previous vintages of this Pomerol, but the 2019 Lagrange gives notice of improvements afoot. Now in bottle, it has a very pleasant and quite concentrated bouquet of black cherries, raspberry coulis and light truffle scents laced with blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a velvety entry and a ripe, slightly confit, spicy finish. A surprisingly plush and well-defined Lagrange that has lived up to its promise and is well worth checking out. A harbinger of things to come?

13 Jan, 2022 – Blueberries and cocoa powder, as well as lavender and blackberries on the nose. Full-bodied with tight, focused tannins that are lean and racy, in a clear way. Just a hint of tar and ash at the end. Chewy and fine. Best after 2027.

90 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Antonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Plince 2019 Pomerol:
The 2019 Plince is a burly, rustic Pomerol. There is certainly a good bit of depth, but the tannins are coarse and very much present in the wine's overall feel. Dark cherry, plum, leather, licorice and game build into the hearty, resonant finish.

90 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Und Neal Martin (Vinous) beschreibt den Chateau Plince 2019 Pomerol:
The 2019 Plince has a well-defined nose of blackberry, blueberry and quite potent incense/potpourri aromas that flourish with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, and quite strict and linear, perhaps displaying just a bit of hardness toward the briny finish. Afford this 3–4 years in bottle – it has more to give.

Lots of black raspberry, mulberry, and black cherry fruits as well as cedar and floral notes emerge from the 2019 Château Bourgneuf, a medium to full-bodied, wonderfully pure, balanced Pomerol. I love its tannins, and it shows the pure, balanced style of 2019 in Pomerol perfectly. It will benefit from just 2-3 years of bottle age and drink brilliantly for 15-20 years. It's another outstanding wine from this château.

The 2019 Lafleur-Gazin has become more refined and focused on the nose of ample black cherry, raspberry and plummy fruit, touches of pressed violets and rose petals percolating through with aeration. 95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Feytit Clinet 2019 PomerolAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Feytit Clinet 2019 Pomerol:

The 2019 Feytit-Clinet is superb. In most vintages, Feytit-Clinet is one of the more intense and tannic Pomerols. In 2019, though, some of that intensity is dialed down. On the plus side, though, that means the 2019 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Inky dark fruit, licorice, graphite, lavender, dried herbs and rose petal build into the sumptuous, creamy finish. Usually I advise cellaring Feytit-Clinet, but that will be less necessary in 2019. As always, Feytit-Clinet is one of the most distinctive wines in the Right Bank.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Feytit Clinet 2019 PomerolUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) beschreibt denChateau Feytit Clinet 2019 Pomerol:

The 2019 Feytit-Clinet has a stunning bouquet of pure red fruit, crushed stone and light rose petal scents; a hint of black truffle emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with good depth, the 70% new French oak a little more prominent than usual at the moment, though that will be subsumed with time. Very balanced and persistent, this is a bolder style of Feytit, but Jeremy Chasseuil pulls it off.

on four separate occasions, the 2016 Château Clinet is another brilliant wine from this estate. Showing slightly more freshness and purity than the 2015, its saturated purple color is followed by a thrilling array of crème de cassis, graphite, ground herbs, and a terrific sense of minerality. Deep, full-bodied, with building tannins, and a magical sense of purity and elegance paired with real density and depth, it needs short term cellaring and will keep for three decades.
