Chateau Haut Tropchaud - Der absolute Geheimtipp aus Pomerol, auf dem Plateau gelegen und damit Nachbar von Le Pin. L’Evangile. Vieux Chateau Certan und Petrus.

Auch im jüngsten verfügbaren Jahrgang 2020 ist der Haut Tropchaud eine wirkliche Perle des Pomerol Plateau. Für mich unterscheidet sich der JG 2020 beim Haut Tropchaud vom 2019er Haut Tropchaud in seiner Intensität. Seine Frucht ist noch eine Nuance tiefer und schwarzbeeriger als beim verführerischen Vorgänger. Auch seine Tanninstruktur weisst eine kompaktere Struktur auf, alles in allem würde ich sagen, dass der JG 2020 bei Haut Tropchaud die bisherige Spitze des Schaffens ist. Den Wein verfolge ich nun schon über ein halbes Jahr, in gewissen Abständen nach seiner Ankunft im September 2022. Zunächst brauchte er mindestens 2 Tage um zu seiner gewohnten Tiefe und Leichtigkeit zu gelangen. Doch jetzt rückt alles immer mehr an den Rechten Platz, man hat fast das Gefühl der Haut Tropchaud 2020 hat Platz genommen um Sie auf eine Genussreise mitzunehmen die Sie für diesen unverschämt charmanten Preis in Pomerol kein zweites Mal erfahren werden.

Im Prinzip gilt die Verkostungsnotiz und Beschreibung des 2019er Haut Tropchaud auch für den 2020iger nur im direkten Vergleich mit einer Spur mehr halt....
Dunkles dichtes Rot mit violetten Reflexen, in der Nase Holunder, Johannisbeere, Kirschen in allen Schattierungen, aber auch Himbeere. Im Antrunk unglaublich präsent, hohe Dichte, die Säure ist perfekt eingebunden, alles wirkt sofort perfekt proportioniert. Aromatisch unglaublich präsent. Schwarzkirche, Johannisbeere und Brombeere, der Haut Tropchaud ist aber nicht überladen oder sperrig, man kann ihn kaum ausspucken. Die Umamiwürze zwingt einen förmlich zum trinken und das selbst in diesem Stadium der Fassprobe! Sofort geht einem ein Lächeln durchs Gesicht, der pure Hedonismus, dabei lang und mit der richtigen Portion Würze und Mineralik. Wieder wird diese extrem hohe Balance deutlich. Das Kaufmuss aus diesem Jahrgang, der archetypische Pomerol überhaupt. Unglaublich schön, balanciert und lecker und wieder lecker, so muss ein Pomerol sein! Pomerol ist Genuss ohne jegliche Reue, viel mehr als man das in den anderen Appellationen Bordeauxs finden kann. Wer großen Bordeaux trinken will und Spaß haben will ist beim Chateau Haut Tropchaud Pomerol genau richtig!

The 2016 L’Eglise-Clinet was matured in 80% new oak and bottled in mid-April 2018. Crystal clear in color. it has an equally crystal clear bouquet that is utterly seductive. featuring red cherries. wild strawberry. peony and iris flowers and a hint of bay leaf. You could sit and nose this all day. The balanced palate is medium-bodied and grippy in the mouth. displaying supple tannin and a perfect line of acidity. Again. there is a symmetry about this Pomerol that is utterly beguiling. and the persistence is up there with the very best. Simply put. this is one of the best L’Eglise-Clinet wines I have tasted in recent years. Stunning.

Reminding me slightly of the 1998, the dense ruby/purple-hued 2020 Château Trotanoy offers a classic, concentrated, structured, regal style that this terroir seems to deliver with ease. Giving up a layered, primordial bouquet of smoked tobacco, black cherries, iron, graphite, and gravelly earth, it hits the palate with a massive array of fruit and tannins that somehow stays flawlessly balanced, offering ripe, silky, yet building tannins, flawless balance, and a gorgeous finish. It's going to need a decade of bottle age to hit the early stages of maturity, but this is pure Pomerol brilliance. Is there a better performing Château on the Right Bank today? Not in my opinion.

As good as this was from barrel, it is even better in the bottle! The array of black and dark red fruits, with nuances of flowers, chocolate, licorice, wet earth and spice in the perfume lets you know you are in for something special. This wine is what hedonism is all about. Sensuous, silky, polished, fresh and opulent, texturally, this is off the charts. The wine tastes and feels like the fruits were drenched in velvet, infused with dark chocolate and then polished, making this effortless to drink. The seamless finish hits the 60 second mark. Clearly, this is a legend in the making. If you are a fan of Trotanoy and you have the extra income, run, do not walk and grab some, as not much was made and it is only going to become more expensive from here. Drink from 2025-2060.

There is a ton of energy and structure, along with the signature Trotanoy tannins, but all the elements are so well-balanced.

Die Geschichte: Das Weingut Château Haut-Tropchaud wurde 1987 von Michel Coudroy übernommen und liegt auf dem lehm- und kiesgeprägten Hochplateau von Pomerol. Trotz seiner kleinen Fläche zählt es dank seiner hervorragenden Lage zu den bedeutenden Gütern der Appellation. Das seit langer Zeit geschätzte Terroir gilt als Ursprung einiger der renommiertesten Bordeaux-Weine. Vor dem Besitzerwechsel bewirtschaftete die Familie Mathias das Anwesen. Heute genießt das Château einen festen Platz unter den angesehenen Namen Pomerols und wird besonders für die Eleganz und Vielschichtigkeit seiner Weine geschätzt.

Lagen und Reben: Die Rebflächen befinden sich auf dem höchsten Abschnitt des Plateaus, der sogenannten „haute terrasse“. Der Boden besteht aus einer Mischung aus Kies, Lehm und Sand, während der Untergrund reich an eisenhaltigen Einschlüssen ist, was den Weinen eine charakteristische mineralische Note verleiht. Der lediglich zwei Hektar große Weinberg ist vollständig mit Merlot bestockt, der hier ideale Bedingungen vorfindet. Die durchschnittlich 40 Jahre alten Reben liefern Trauben von ausgezeichneter Qualität und sorgen für intensive Aromen sowie konzentrierten Geschmack. Eine dichte Bepflanzung fördert die Konkurrenz unter den Rebstöcken und trägt so zu besonders hochwertigem Lesegut bei.

Ausbau und Vinifikation: Die Weinbereitung auf Château Haut-Tropchaud verbindet traditionelle Verfahren mit großer Sorgfalt in jedem Arbeitsschritt. Die Trauben werden von Hand gelesen, um nur bestes Material zu verwenden. Bei der Vinifikation wird darauf geachtet, den natürlichen Reichtum des Merlot zu bewahren und zugleich den Charakter des Terroirs hervorzuheben. Anschließend reifen die Weine 18 Monate in neuen Eichenfässern. Diese Lagerung verleiht feine Noten von Vanille und Kakao, sorgt für geschmeidigere Tannine und festigt die Struktur, während die Fruchtaromen klar zur Geltung kommen.

With perfectly integrated oak, again, incredible purity, and perfect, ultra-fine tannins, it deserves 8-10 years of bottle age and will be a 40- to 50-year wine.
