Priorat DOQ

Priorat DOQ
Weinregion Priorat:

The Torroja Vi de Vila has been renamed and is now the 2017 Terra de Cuques. basically because they didn't find enough grapes in Torroja for this wine. In 2017. it's still fruit from Torroja. but in the future there will be grapes from other villages. There are strong notes of licorice. red berries and Mediterranean herbs. and it's aromatic. expressive. open. clean and. frankly. very attractive. Like many 2017s. it doesn't show any heat or excess ripeness. The oak foudres are getting older every year and lend less and less aromas and flavors. and the wines feel purer and purer. This is a super elegant blend of Garnacha and Cariñena that's really balanced and has symmetry. definition and delineation. as chiseled and precise as if laser cut. There's even some austerity on the palate. something I didn't expect from a richer vintage. 20.000 bottles produced.

Familia Nin Ortiz Nit de Nin Mas d'en Cacador 2015 DOQ Priorat
97

97 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Familia Nin Ortiz Nit de Nin Mas d'en Cacador 2015 DOQ PrioratLuis Gutierrez beschreibt den Familia Nin Ortiz Nit de Nin Mas d'en Cacador 2015 DOQ Priorat:

The Nit de Nin family has grown with the addition of a new vineyard. The wine produced since 2003 comes from Mas d'en Caçador—this was always named on the label. but it is now also specified in the wine name to distinguish between the new vineyard. The 2015 Nit de Nin Mas d’en Caçador comes from the vineyard mentioned in the name. a famous place in Porrera planted with old vines of Garnacha Negra. Garnacha Peluda and Cariñena. It fermented in an oak vat with indigenous yeasts and matured in a similar vat for 18 months. It's heady and ripe. exuberant and very open. a hedonistic. round and lush wine. The palate reveals very fine tannins and great harmony. 4.774 bottles and some larger formats were filled in April 2017.

Clos i Terrasses Laurel DOCa Priorat 2018
96

The second wine here and one that is easier to drink, the 2018 Laurel was produced with fruit from the younger vines, a couple of barrels that are declassified from Clos Erasmus and the Cabernet Sauvignon, more or less 70% Garnacha and 15% each Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has good ripeness and still a pH of 3.3. It fermented mostly in oak vats and 2,000-liter concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and matured for 18 months in 20,000-liter oak and concrete vats, second use barriques and some clay amphorae. It's a bright translucent ruby color and has a perfumed and delicate nose with notes of orange peel and flowers; this is the most elegant and ethereal vintage of Laurel as far as I can remember, with red rather than black fruit and a kind of cranberry quality. The palate is medium-bodied, textured and fluid, with subtleness, balance and very fine tannins. The oak is perfectly integrated, and the wine is easy to drink, approachable and very pleasurable right now. It's a fresh vintage with energy and finesse, quite different from previous vintages. I love it. 22,825 bottles and 515 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2020.

I think the 2018 Terroir Históric follows the path of the 2016. with a little more freshness. and they have finally gotten rid of the reduction that this wine showed in some vintages. It has a clean and explosive nose of red cherries. licorice and fine spices and is clean and focused. pure. really attractive. There is perfect ripeness. enough to provide flavors and aromas without any excess. The palate is medium-bodied with great balance and is pure. delineated and terribly harmonious. 35.000 bottles produced. It's remarkable that they have been able to increase quantity and quality. Alvaro Palacios Les Terrasses Priorat DOC 2016
92-94
91

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Alvaro Palacios Les Terrasses Priorat DOC 2016Verkostungsnotiz von Luis Gutierrez vom 27. April 2018:

The still unbottled sample of the Garnacha and Cariñena blend 2016 Les Terrasses Velles Vinyes has vibrant acidity in a warm year when ripening stopped as the vines blocked and stopped producing sugar and maintained the acidity. The grapes were small because the year had also been very dry. It's juicy and with good ripeness and some dusty tannins. reminiscent of the dusty roads among the vineyards of Priorat along with that decomposed slate. There will be 116.000 bottles of the 2016.

91 Sucklingpunkte für den Alvaro Palacios Les Terrasses Priorat DOC 2016Verkostungsnotiz James Suckling vom 21. Juli 2019:

A bright and fruity wine with fine tannins and a fresh blueberry and blackberry character. Medium body. linear and focused. Low tannins and more built on fruit. Acid balance. Enjoy. Drink now.
