Chateau La Faurie Maison Neuve 2020 Lalande de Pomerol

Chateau La Faurie Maison Neuve 2019 Lalande de Pomerol.

A fresh and firm Fronsac with vibrant cherries, spices and some stony minerality to the nose. Medium-bodied palate garners chalky and fresh tannins that linger with the fruit in a long but nuanced finish. Juicy and really drinkable. Enjoy now, but can hold well for four to six years.

91 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau de La Riviere 2020 Fronsac Den Chateau de La Riviere 2020 Fronsac beschreibt Jeb Dunnuck wie folgt:
The 2020 Château De La Rivière is an outstanding Fronsac offering juicy darker, almost blue fruits, medium-bodied richness, classy spring flower and graphite aromatics, fine tannins, and a great finish. It shows the classic, fresher, focused, yet still concentrated style of the vintage and is well worth following over the coming 5-7 years, probably longer.

The 2020 Château de la Rivière is perfumed on the nose and quite floral and pure, offering crushed violets and a hint of lavender that complements the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a crisp, smooth texture and just a nuanced sapidity on the finish that urges you to take another sip. This is a much better Château de la Rivière compared to the 2018.

The 2018 Dalem is quite backward on the nose, opening gradually to offer blackberry, licorice and very light menthol aromas; you just want to give the aromatics a polite kick up the backside. Excellent, but give it 24 months in bottle, because the nose needs time to find its mojo.

Aromas of plum, blueberry, dark chocolate and walnut husk. Some pine cone, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, powdery tannins. Chewy, creamy and polished all at once. Extremely well done. Try from 2023.

92 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für denJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau La Vieille Cure 2018 Fronsac wie folgt:
This has a succulent feel, pulling you into its mix of fresh plum, red cherry and raspberry coulis flavors while bergamot and red tea accents stay in the background. Finish is juicy but tightly focused, with an underlying chalky thread lending precision. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

92+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau La Vieille Cure 2018 Fronsac wie folgt:
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 La Vieille Cure opens with cedar chest, graphite and tree bark scents, giving way to a core of baked blackberries, stewed plums and cherry compote, with wafts of Sichuan pepper and star anise. The full-bodied palate (15% alcohol) is wearing a lot of oak at this stage, with a good core of baked black fruits and loads of exotic spice accents, supported by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing woody. Give it a good 5 years for the oak to integrated and drink it over the next 12-15 years or more.

The 2018 La Vieille Cure is a total pleasure bomb. Rich, sumptuous and exotically beautiful, the 2018 grabs hold of all the senses and never lets up. Inky dark fruit, spice, new leather, licorice, mocha and chocolate build as this exuberant, deeply layered Fronsac shows off its soft curves and considerable charms. In a word: fabulous.

The 2019 Puygueraud exhibits aromas of black cherries, violet and iris, thyme, menthol and touches of spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, juicy and vibrant, with delicate aromas of plum and cassis. This vintage can be approached with pleasure, even if it has three to five years of evolution ahead of it.

An array of fresh dark and blue-fruit aromas, together with hints of baking spices, chocolate and crushed rocks. Full-bodied and compact with firm, polished tannins and delicious, succulent fruit. Refined and firm on the finish. 86% merlot and 14% cabernet franc. Drinkable now, but better in 2025.

The 2019 Château Puygueraud is also terrific, with ripe darker cherry, plum, leafy tobacco and hints of chocolate on the nose. This medium-bodied, rounded, supple, elegant beauty has soft tannins, wonderful balance, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming decade.

Evoking smoky, graphite and spicy aromas, the 2019 Montlandrie has an exquisite earthy character followed by a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, a juicy texture and a slightly austere, delicate finish. This beautiful wine (a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a real potential to improve in the cellar.

93 Suckling Punkte für den James Suckling über den Chateau Montlandrie 2019 Castillon:

Blueberries and dark cherries with walnuts and hazelnuts. Some nutmeg, too. Medium-bodied with firm, polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Very fine tannins. Drink after 2025, but already gorgeous.

The 2019 Montlandrie was one of the hidden gems of Durantou’s lineup this vintage. Now in bottle, it retains a wonderful, expressive, vivacious bouquet of black and red fruit and hints of violet and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied, with pliant, very fine tannins and a perfect line of acidity. Intense yet finessed, leading to a silky-smooth finish. Make sure you have some of this excellent Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux in your cellar, or it will never forgive you.

Composed of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Alcee charges out of the gate with bold notions of stewed black cherries, blackberry preserves and fruitcake, plus hints of cinnamon toast, licorice and tobacco leaf with a waft of camphor. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of ripe black fruit flavors with a velvety texture and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

91 Sucklingpunkte für denJames Suckling im März 2021 zum Chateau Alcee 2018 Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux:

Black cherries, blueberries, dried leaves, praline and some tar on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, broad tannins. Structured and concentrated. 96% merlot and 4% cabernet franc. Better from 2023.

The 2018 Alcée, the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from Nicolas Thienpont, has a rather thick, dense bouquet of opulent blackberry and cassis fruit. It is certainly the most sumptuous of Thienpont’s wines this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame layers of tar- and tobacco-infused black fruit. Dichotomous to the nose, the finish comes across as structured and a little more austere in style. I appreciate the focus and spiciness of this Alcée, which deserves 2–3 years in bottle. Very fine, if a bit like a jigsaw puzzle: you have to put it together in your mind!

Black cherries, red plums, tobacco, and chalky minerality all emerge from the 2019 Château Alcée, a juicy, medium-bodied, round, incredibly satisfying Castillon with ripe tannins and rock-solid overall balance. It's beautiful today, yet I see no reason it shouldn't evolve and drink well for a decade.

Aromas of rose petals, cassis, crème de cassis, dark berries and touches of violet introduce the 2019 Alcée, a medium-bodied, juicy, lively and perfectly balanced wine that’s elegantly fleshy and fresh. It’s an attractive wine from the appellation of Castillon.
