The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite juicy in the mouth, delivering black cherries and cassis toward the well-defined, persistent finish. Excellent, but give it 24 months in bottle, because the nose needs time to find its mojo.

Ripe black cherries, chocolaty herbs, licorice, and graphite are just some of its nuances, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a round, layered texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming decade.

This a very gravelly soil with great drainage, but not a lot of water during dry periods. Adeptly produced by the team of Cheval Blanc (who purchased the estate in 2008), the wine nonetheless maintained its poise under the dry. warm ripening conditions of 2018, coming in at a respectable pH of 3.67 and relatively moderate alcohol of 14.1%. The 2018 Quinault l Enclos is blended of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc with 50% new oak and the rest in one-year-old barrels - but only 500-liter and foudres. Deep purple-black in color, it slips seductively out of the glass with notions of warm plums, blueberry preserves and mulberries with touches of spice box, tilled soil, black olives and licorice plus a waft of lavender. The 2018 Quinault L Enclos is impressive. Creamy and ample, the 2018 stands out for its textural breadth. There is a level of intensity in the 2018 that previous vintages have not achieved, with a balance of Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that is striking for such a young wine. All of the work the Cheval Blanc team has done here over the last ten years have begun to pay off big time. Half of the property was replanted between 2008 and 2012 with more Cabernet Sauvignon. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc raised in 40% new barrels (the balance is in second- and third-fill oak), it offers a full-bodied, incredibly pure, balanced style revealing subtle oak, terrific darker, almost blue fruits, lots of chocolate, leafy herb and mineral nuances, and gorgeous tannins. It's worth pointing out that this will be the last vintage made by the talented Jérôme Aguirre. This terrific Saint-Emilion will evolve for two decades.

Sehr behutsames Toasting, man hat wohl aus dem 2015er seine Schlüsse gezogen und geht etwas behutsamer mit dem Neuholzanteil um. Im Mund totale Balance bei maximalem aromatischen Druck. Perfekt polierte Tannine, lang, frisch, kühl, druckvoll und nochmal lang! Einfach ein genialer Weinwert, dessen Winemaker-Team den Jahrgang perfekt interpretiert hat. 93-95 Punkte.

This cuvée comes from eight different parcels and is partially destemmed and aged in foudre and amphora. The blend wasn’t specified.

ERNTE & VINIFIKATION:
Manuelle Ernte in Kisten mit Sortierung im Weinberg, gefolgt von einer zweiten auf dem Sortiertisch. Teilweises Entrappen. Der Anteil der entrappten Trauben wird je nach Jahrgang und Parzelle festgelegt. Gravity Vating mit absolutem Respekt vor der Unversehrtheit der Trauben.
