Full-bodied, rich and voluptuously fruited in the mouth, the palate has a velvety texture and plenty of red fruit sparks of freshness, finishing spicy.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Faugères stampedes out of the glass with a herd of powerful black fruit notes: blackberry pie, baked black plums and ripe, juicy black cherries, plus hints of wild mushrooms, damp soil, tar and star anise with a waft of tobacco. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of black fruit preserves, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and earthy.

The 2020 Faugeres offers ripe black plum and boysenberry fruit on the nose, which is extravagant and verging on ostentatious, though somehow it maintains focus and delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with red cherries, boysenberry, cola and light allspice notes on the entry. Well balanced with impressive depth toward the fleshy finish, leaving a lick of dark chocolate on the aftertaste. This is a fine Faugeres that should be afforded 4–5 years in bottle.

Full-bodied and built like a brick house. it has a firm backbone of rounded tannins with bold freshness and loads of black fruit preserves layers. finishing long and spicy.

The 2018 Faugeres is fresh. lively and quite deep. with a striking interplay of floral top notes and rich. layered fruit. I sense a shift towards a more refined style. Even so. there is plenty of the depth and textural richness readers have become accustomed to. Dark red fruit. espresso. cedar and dried flowers add lovely shades of aromatic nuance as well as energy. The 2018 is beautifully rendered. The blend is 85% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Proprietor Silvio Denz and consulting winemake Michel Rolland turned out a gorgeous Faugeres in 2018. My only real critique is that Faugeres and the pure Peby Faugeres are more closer in style than they usually are. which is remarkable as the blends are totally different! Tasted three times.
