Blackcurrant, cherry and violet aromas follow through to a medium to full body with very well-integrated tannins that give a soft and creamy impression. Long and satisfying already, but needs another three or four years to come together. Try after 2023.

A terrific effort from an estate that was long one of Saint-Émilion's sleeping giants, the 2019 Laroque unwinds in the glass with aromas of cherries, licorice, loamy soil, rose petals and sweet tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, it's deep and concentrated, with succulent aids, powdery tannins and a seamless, integrated profile. It's well worth seeking out.

Succulent dark cherry fruit, mocha, spice, new leather, licorice and menthol build into the voluptuous finish. Laroque balances fruit intensity with energy. It is certainly impressive in 2019. Composed of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. the 2019 Laroque was harvested from the 30th of September to the 10th of October. Yields were 43 hectoliters per hectare this year. Alcohol came in at 14.5%. with a relatively low pH of 3.44. Deep garnet-purple in color. it bursts from the glass with bold scents of blueberry preserves. Black Forest cake. dark chocolate and lilacs with underlying hints of aniseed. espresso and pencil lead plus a waft of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied. the palate is completely filled with dark. seductive berry layers and a whole myriad of savory nuances. framed by wonderfully soft. velvety tannins and fantastic freshness. finishing very long and perfumed. Beautiful!

TThis estate has been delivering the goods for numerous vintages now, and the 2019 Château Tour Saint Christophe is another terrific wine. Ripe black cherries, black raspberries, graphite, new leather, and chalky minerality all define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a tight, straight, focused texture, ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length. It doesn't have the mid-palate density or opulence of the 2018, but it’s more pretty, focused, and straight on the palate. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

This is a Saint-Émilion that is in for the long haul. Great potential.

A firm, savory young Bordeaux with tobacco, redcurrant and crushed-stone character, as well as some bark. It’s medium-bodied with solid tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs time to soften. Better in 2024.

Château Peymouton ist Teil des Anwesens von Château Laroque, einem historischen Grand Cru Classé von Saint-Émilion, das nur 3,5 km östlich des mittelalterlichen Dorfes liegt.

Château Laroque, eines der größten Anwesen der Appellation, stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Château Peymouton liegt auf einem Hochplateau des Anwesens (80-100 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel), das teilweise aus einer dünnen Schicht reichen Tons über Kalkstein und teilweise aus tiefem, dickem rotem Ton besteht. Diese Böden verleihen dem Wein Dichte und Struktur, der jedoch die Eleganz des Kalksteins bewahrt.

Château Peymouton wird von demselben Team geführt und genießt die gleiche Sorgfalt und Aufmerksamkeit wie Château Laroque. The Cabernet Franc-dominated 2018 Château Petit Gravet Aîné (there's 20% Merlot) comes from the upper plateau in Saint-Emilion and was raised in new French oak. It's handled its élevage nicely and has just subtle vanilla and spicy oak notes as well as impressive red, black, and blue fruits intermixed with notes of acacia flowers, spice box, forest floor, and tobacco. Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

Nach etwa 12-14 Monaten in temperaturkontrollierten Fasskellern. wird der Wein etwa 20 Monate nach der Lese auf dem Chateau abgefüllt. Die Weinberge von Saint-Georges Cote Pavie erstrecken sich auf 5 Hektar und sind umrahmt von grandiosen Terroirs wie die von Chateau Pavie und Chateau La Gaffeliere. Die im Durchschnitt 30 Jahre alten Reben stehen auf dem Kalksteinplateau der Cote Pavie mit Lehmauflage. So ist es auch zu erklären. dass die Trauben in diesem warmen und sonnenreichen Jahrgang genügend Frische und feingliedrige Frucht aufweisen. Hier ist alles am rechten Fleck. ein grosser Genusswert aus dem Saint Emilion.

Bei Berliquet hat sich viel getan in den letzten Jahren. Der 2019er beweist dies von Beginn weg. Leider gab es diesen Wein nicht als Fassmuster zu verkosten, genau so wenig wie Rauzan Segla 2019, Chateau Canon 2019 oder auch Palmer oder Montrose. Dafür überzeugt der fertige Wein umsomehr. Sein Duft ist feingliedrig und tiefgründig zugleich. Der Duft versprüht saftige Fruchtnoten etwas Salziges Lakritz und feine florale Nuancen steigen auf. Im Mund ist er sehr frisch und saftig, das Tannin beweist seine tolle Reife bei einer vitalen Frische im langen Nachklang. Toller Wert. Hier wird noch viel passieren in den kommenden Jahren. 77 Merlot und 23 Cab Franc

The 2019 Berliquet is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, sweet spices, violets and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant, with terrific depth at the core, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins, it concludes with a long, mineral finish. It's produced from a 9.5-hectare vineyard that encompasses three soil types: Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau (like its sibling, Château Canon); the slope, characterized by deep clay; and then sandy, colluvial soils at the foot of the slope. Right now it's planted with 70% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc, but the percentage of the latter is increasing as replanting progresses.

From an estate that has been on an incredible run of late, largely due to the talents of director David Suire, the 2020 Château Laroque shows the cooler, limestone-driven style of the terroir beautifully and has a clean, focused style in its darker (almost blue) berry fruits as well as chalky minerality, violets, spice, and floral nuances. Medium-bodied on the palate, this focused, straight, remarkably pure Saint-Emilion has terrific mid-palate depth and a great finish. It needs to be hidden in the cellar for a solid 4-5 years if possible and is going to have 30 years of longevity. If drinking any time soon, give it an hour in a decanter.

The 2020 Laroque has turned out nicely, bursting with aromas of cherries, minty blackberries, licorice and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, with good depth at the core, chalky but refined tannins and a saline finish, it's another strong performance for this rising star of Saint-Émilion.

Bitte kaufen Sie sehr selektiv 2021, aber lassen Sie Laroque nicht aus!

Dunkle reife Frucht, etwas sogar ins schwarzbeerige gehende. Ein paar vegetabile Noten zeigen sich, an rote Beete erinnernd, aber auch weisser Pfeffer, Cassis und ein touch Kaffee. Im Mund saftig und fleischig, gute Struktur, die Säure trägt ihn und verleiht aromatischen Lift. Gut gelungen und eine neue Facette, sehr spannendes Ergebnis. 92-94 Punkte

The 2021 Laroque opens in the glass with aromas of dark, minty berries, orange zest and toasty oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered palate with a sweet core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, mineral finish. This has turned out very nicely in bottle, and given its low-pH profile, it's likely to reward some bottle age. 92+

The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite juicy in the mouth, delivering black cherries and cassis toward the well-defined, persistent finish. Excellent, but give it 24 months in bottle, because the nose needs time to find its mojo.

The floral bouquet is what you initially notice before moving on to its licorice, tobacco leaf, espresso, and chocolate-covered plum notes. On the palate, the wine is seductive with its silky textures, and opulent nature. In the finish, the wine feels as good on the palate as it tastes. This is in contention for the best vintage of Dalem I have ever tasted. Drink from 2023-2038.

This is a very fine Meyney that may warrant a higher score down the line.

The 2018 offers striking immediacy, but also has enough structure to develop well in bottle for 15-20 years, maybe more. The 2018 Meyney is a wine of immense pleasure. Best of all, it is a tremendous value.
