L'Eglise-Clinet is 90% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Franc. aged in 70% new oak. More importantly. the 2015 is a total pleasure bomb. This a fabulous wine from Denis Durantou. Don't miss it.

A very long. linear wine with a full body and a smooth. fresh. blueberry/plum finish. An impressive wine that rolls endlessly through the finish. This has plenty of ageing potential.Try from 2023.

Seit 2009 ist eine Auswahl von Kiesparzellen im nordöstlichen Teil des Weinguts dem Espérance de Trotanoy gewidmet, einem Wein, der nach nur wenigen Jahren des Kellerns fruchtbetont und zugänglich ist, aber die Tiefe beibehält. Komplexität und Konzentration des Geschmacks, die für Trotanoys Terroir charakteristisch sind. Der Trotanoy-Weinberg, der sich in einem der am besten exponierten Gebiete des Plateaus befindet und teilweise von den dramatischen Frösten von 1956 verschont bleibt, fällt sanft nach Westen ab. Der Boden ist eine sehr dichte Mischung aus Ton und Kies, die dazu neigt, sich zu verfestigen, wenn sie nach dem Regen zu einer fast betonartigen Härte austrocknet, daher der Name „Trot-Anoy“ - „zu mühsam“, um sie zu kultivieren. Der Boden am höchsten Punkt der Exposition enthält einen guten Anteil an Kies, der mit abnehmender Höhe zunehmend von Ton dominiert wird. Infos zum JG 2018
Winter und Frühling waren sehr regnerisch. Ein später Knospenbruch am 9. April ermöglichte es uns, einen Frühlingsfrost zu vermeiden. Die Blüte vom 23. bis 30. Mai verlief gut und die potenzielle Qualität war signifikant. Der regnerische Frühling verursachte einen schweren Mehltauanfall, der dank der erheblichen Anstrengungen unserer Weinbergarbeiter vereitelt wurde. Während des Sommers hat ein Team von 60 Mitarbeitern die Ernte verdünnt und den gewünschten Ertrag an das Paket und das Alter der Reben angepasst. Die Véraison fand vom 26. Juli bis 12. August statt. Nahezu perfekte Balance war die Belohnung für 16.800 Stunden sorgfältiger Arbeit. Das Hauptmerkmal dieses Jahrgangs waren die 1.136 Sonnenstunden zwischen Juni und September, ein bemerkenswerter Rekord der letzten fünfzig Jahre. Die Ernte fand bei sonnigem Himmel und warmen Temperaturen vom 14. September bis 3. Oktober statt. Der Wein ist seidig, dominiert von schwarzen Früchten und Lakritznoten und bietet sofortigen Genuss.

The 2018 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot with a pH of 3.85, an IPT (total polyphenol index) of 87 and 14% alcohol. The grand vin represents 50% of the crop this year. Deep garnet-purple colored, it charges out of the gate with bold scents of baked plums, ripe blackcurrants and wild blueberries, followed by hints of cedar chest, pencil lead, bouquet garni and charcuterie, plus a waft of lilacs. The medium-bodied palate is beautifully crafted with its seamless freshness and firm, grainy tannins supporting the compelling, finely knit black fruits and savory nuances, finishing on a lingering fragrant-earth note. This will need a good 5 years to come around and should easily cellar for another 30 years or more.

The 2018 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande dazzles from the very first taste. A heady concoction of inky dark fruit, graphite, new leather, licorice, lavender, spice and grilled herbs soars out of the glass. The 2018 is rich and expansive yet retains a super-classic vertical feel. Plush, silky tannins add to its immeasurable pedigree. I would cellar the 2018 for a decade or so, if patience permits. It's a stellar wine in the making.

The 2018 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse De Lalande is a monster of a wine with an almost Château Latour-like stature and structure, offering deep, backward, slightly reductive notes of blackcurrants, crushed stone, scorched earth, lead pencil shavings, and tobacco leaf. Based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon mixed with 23% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, it's full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful on the palate, with masses of tannins, beautiful mid-palate density, and a great finish. As I've commented previously, the up-front, sexy style of the past (due to the larger Merlot content, I believe) has been replaced by a more regal, at times austere profile. Nevertheless, it's still its own wine and very Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in style. This 2018 is going to need 5-7 years of bottle age and will evolve for 40+ years.

Crushed-blackcurrant, plum, ink, graphite and licorice aromas. Lemon-zest and saline notes, too. It’s medium-bodied with sleek, tight tannins and fresh acidity. Fresh, clean finish. Linear and fine. Better in 2024, but already very attractive.



Der Bad Boy wird aus mindestens 50 Jahre alten Rebstöcken gewonnen.
Die Cuvee besteht aus 80% Merlot 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
5% Cabernet Franc und 5% Petit Verdot.
Die Reben stehen in dem grossartigen lehmhaltigen Kalkboden des Libournais.

Der Wein ist eben so anders wie der Kopf seines Schöpfers. Jean Luc Thunevin ist einer der grossen Querdenker im Bordeaux. Mit grossartigen Weinen wie dem Chateau Valandraud aus Saint Emilion hat er mit seinen Garagenweinen eine ganz eingene Art und Weise seine Weine zu interpretieren.
Oft als das schwarze Schaaf beäugt. zählt er heute zu den ganz grossen im Bordeaux.
