90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Lilian Ladouys 2019 Saint EstepheDie Degustationsnotiz des Wine Advocate zum Chateau Lilian Ladouys 2019 Saint Estephe:
Offering up aromas of sweet berries, cherries, licorice and spices, the 2019 Lilian Ladouys is medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with a giving, easygoing profile and a clean, precise finish. It's a competent effort that shows none of the appellation's stereotypically hard edges.

92 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Lilian Ladouys 2019 Saint EstepheJames Suckling schreibt zum Chateau Lilian Ladouys 2020 Saint Estephe Folgendes:
Sweet currant and berry aromas with some very flowers follow through to a medium body, with firm and creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. I like the walnut and chocolate undertones. 59% merlot, 37% cabernet sauvignon, 3% petit verdot and 1% cabernet franc. Better after 2023.

92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Lilian Ladouys 2019 Saint EstepheDas meint die Vinous-Mannschaft um Antonio Galloni zum Chateau Lilian Ladouys:
The 2019 Lilian Ladouys is absolutely beautiful, just as it was from barrel. The interplay of rich, radiant fruit and the savory, earthy notes that are typical of Saint-Estèphe make for a compelling, delicious and highly affordable wine to drink now and over the next handful of years.

91 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Lilian Ladouys 2019 Saint EstepheJeb Dunnuck im April 2022:
This château continues to bring the goods, and their 2019 Château Lilian Ladouys offers a medium-bodied, supple, elegant, and certainly delicious style as well as complex notes of redcurrants, darker mulberries, cedary spice, and dried herbs. It shows the elegant, more mid-weight side to the vintage, yet the balance is spot on, it has ripe tannins, and it’s going to keep for 15+ years.

8 Nov, 2021 – Intense and focused with cigar tobacco, cedar, spice and berry. Currant too. Medium- to full-bodied. The fruit is there at the beginning and then it takes off at the finish. Give this two or three years to soften and come together. Complex and long. Drink after 2024.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Le Boscq 2019 Saint EstepheAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Le Boscq 2019 Saint Estephe:
The 2019 Le Boscq is fabulous. A rush of wild cherry, smoke, licorice, tobacco, incense and scorched earth races across the palate. This deep, flavorful Saint-Estèphe is wonderfully expressive today. I would give the tannins a few years to soften. Le Boscq is a great choice for readers who want to explore the appellation without splurging on some of the bigger names.

The 2019 Le Boscq has an intense bouquet of dark berry fruit, meat juice, wild mint and juniper berries. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe, with supple tannins, fine structure and a fresh, nicely proportioned finish that demonstrates some well-integrated oak. Very fine.

The 2019 du Tertre opens in the glass with aromas of sweet cassis and plums mingled with undergrowth, cedarwood, violets and subtle hints of cigar wrapper. Medium-bodied, bright and integrated, with a nicely concentrated core of fruit, lively acids and fine, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish, it delivers a certain generosity of fruit in a fine-boned package. Even if this numbers among the more powerful du Tertre vintages of recent years, it remains a wine defined by elegance more than impact.

94 Suckling Punkte für den Chateau du Tertre 2019 MargauxJames Suckling über den Chateau du Tertre 2019 Margaux:
Beautiful purity of fruit here with currant and berry aromas, as well as fresh roses and other flowers. Citrus peel as well. Full-bodied with creamy and lightly velvety tannins that are long and beautiful. Hints of citrus to the lovely fruit. Textured and polished. A blend of 54% cabernet sauvignon, 27% merlot, 13% cabernet franc and 6% petit verdot. Try after 2024.

The 2019 du Tertre is powerful and virile, just as it was en primeur. Black cherry, graphite, smoke, tobacco, licorice, incense and crushed rocks lend notable complexity to this decidedly brooding, potent Margaux. I have always wondered if du Tertre, which is always a bit monolithic, can be more. The château is under new ownership, so perhaps we will find out.

92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Ormes de Pez 2019 Saint EstepheNeal Martin im Februar 2022:

The 2019 Ormes de Pez has an intense bouquet of blackberry, bilberry and a touch of hoisin, but none of the smoky elements that I commented upon from the barrel sample last year. Nicely delineated and certainly less rustic than past vintages. The palate is finely tuned with a touch of bitter cherry on the entry, quite peppery, and a little stricter than I expected at the moment, leading to a granular, almost truffly finish.

93 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Ormes de Pez 2019 Saint EstepheJames Suckling Februar 2022:

This shows lots of spice, such as cloves and nutmeg, together with dark berries and cherries and some plums. It’s structured and relatively dense, with lovely length and beauty. Needs time to open and come together. 50% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon with cabernet franc and petit verdot. Lovely now. Try after 2024.

Jeb Dunnuck im April 202294 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Ormes de Pez 2019 Saint Estephe:

Coming from the Cazes team, the 2019 Château Ormes De Pez is gorgeous and shines in the vintage. Pure crème de cassis, mulberries, leafy herbs, Asian spices, and lead pencil all emerge on the nose, and this medium to full-bodied 2019 has the vintage’s pure, focused, elegant style while staying ripe, supple, and textured. The balance is spot on, and it's going to hit maturity in roughly 8-10 years and have two decades of prime drinking.

The 2018 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur is a blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon (14.9% alcohol). It is anticipated to age for 17 months in barriques. 30% new. Deep purple-black in color. it gives up opulent scents of Indian spices. menthol and plum preserves with a core of crème de cassis. baked cherries and raspberry pie plus a hint of sandalwood. Big. rich. full-bodied and voluptuously fruited in the mouth. it has bags of black fruit preserves and exotic spices with a firm. plush frame. finishing long with a minty lift. Definitely one for the hedonists! und vergibt ihm 92-94 Punkte.

“2018 was complicated to vinify because of the potentially high alcohols.” Laurent Dufau. Managing Director of Calon-Ségur and Capbern informed me. “Also. you had to be very gentle with extraction. You had to be soft. so as not to extract too much. The alcohol percentage of the Merlot was concerning—some came in at 16% potential alcohol! And the Cabernet Franc this year was amazing on this terroir.” Merlot was picked from September 19 to 25. The Cabernets came in September 26 to October 5. Petit Verdot came in on October 8th. Yields were pretty good here on average in 2018: 41 hectoliters per hectare. This year marks the final stages/completion of years of vineyard restructuring. new aging cellars and a gravity-fed vat room at Château Calon-Ségur. Most notably. they have been increasing vine density and slowly working on bringing more Cabernet Sauvignon rather than Merlot on line. as was the blend traditionally. No doubt about it. quality at Calon-Ségur has been on an upward trajectory in recent years!

The aromas to this are really amazing, with a potpourri of spices and dried flowers, as well as redcurrants, sweet plums and even some peaches. Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate in an encompassing yet always elegant and pure way. It’s succulent and unadulterated. Like crushed, perfectly ripened grapes. The length is rather endless. The tannins build. Fabulous young red. 35% in amphora and the rest in 50% new oak and 15% one-year oak. 65% cabernet sauvignon and 30% merlot, the rest cabernet franc and petit verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes. The 2019 Pontet-Canet was so effusive and generous en primeur. Today, though, it is quite reticent. That won't be an issue for those who can be patient, but patience indeed will be the key here. Dark red fleshed fruit, tobacco, cedar, spice, kirsch, mint and blood orange gradually open with a bit of coaxing. Imposing tannins wrap it all together. The 2019 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty, but it needs time.

The 2019 Pontet Canet was picked from September 23 until October 10, finishing with the Petit Verdot, and bottled in mid-June/July. My sample, tasted at the property, was decanted. Matured in 50% new oak and 35% concrete amphora, this is endowed with an intense, enveloping bouquet of opulent blackberry and boysenberry fruit laced with crushed violet and light fig aromas, becoming more floral with aeration and revealing crushed violet petals. The palate is medium-bodied with layered black fruit, cracked black pepper, hints of pencil lead and a splash of soy. This is one of the most powerful Pauillac wines that I encountered this vintage, very juicy and with plenty of rondeur on the very spicy finish. This should give three decades of drinking pleasure.

Showing spectacularly, the 2017 Chateau Canon checks in as a final blend of 77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc that’s from one of the most exceptional terroirs in the appellation. Hitting 14% alcohol (the pH is 3.66), it reveals a ruby/purple hue as well as gorgeously sweet raspberries and cassis-like fruit interwoven with notes of spring flowers, rose petal, white chocolate, and spice. While it doesn’t have the massive opulence of the 2015 and 2016, it’s more classically styled as well flawlessly balanced, with a terrific sense of minerality, ultra-fine tannins, and a brilliant finish. Give bottles 5-7 years in the cellar, and it will evolve gracefully for 30-40 years. Hats off to Nicolas Audebert as well as the team of Thomas Duclos for one of the wines of the vintage!

The 2020 Langoa Barton has turned out superbly in bottle, offering up generous aromas of black cherries, crème de cassis, licorice and pencil shavings deftly framed by classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, its concentrated core of ripe but vibrant fruit is framed by sweet, powdery tannins and lively acids. Beautifully balanced, it's somewhat more open out of the gates than the excellent 2019 and will offer an especially broad drinking window.t add a grippy, juicy feel to the finish, while an iron note adds cut and drive. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2036. 6,400 cases made.

95 Punkte vergibt Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Langoa Barton 2020 Saint JulienJeb Dunnuck beschreibt den Langoa Barton 2020 im Januar 2023 wie folgt:
Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2020 Château Langoa Barton comes from a mix of different sites in Saint-Julien, which makes it a great representation of the vintage and appellation. The blend is 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It exhibits a deep ruby/purple hue to go with a beautiful bouquet of red and black cherries, currants, leafy tobacco, and cedar pencil, with a touch of damp earth that emerges with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant on the palate, it has plenty of mid-palate depth and richness, velvety tannins, and a great finish. This plush, up-front, expansive, wonderfully textured Saint-Julien will benefit from just a few years of bottle age and cruise for two decades. It's the finest example from this château I've tasted. Bravo!

Brancott Estate Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2022 Marlborough Terroir Series

Readers will find a rich. flamboyant wine in the 2016 Barde-Haut. There is not a ton of subtlety here. but I am not sure that matters all that much given how immensely pleasing the 2016 is. Crushed rocks. graphite. lavender. blackberry. plum. and violet infuse a Saint-Émilion that offers tremendous textural richness as well as vibrancy. Most importantly of all. the 2016 is flat-out delicious. This is a decidedly opulent. dark Saint-Émilion with all of the elements impeccably balanced. I loved it.
