Weinregion Bordeaux:
Mit dem Bordeaux oder auch Bordelais verbindet man seit jeher qualitativ hochwertigste Weine und große Namen. Das Bordeaux ist für Qualitätswein das größte zusammenhängende Weinanbaugebiet weltweit. Die über 3000 Weingüter werden "Chateaux" genannt, wobei jedes Chateaux in der Regel nur einen Erstwein produziert, einige noch einen Zweitwein. (Einige Weingüter produzieren Erst- und Zweitwein in rot und weiß). Die Region ist bekannt für trockene, langlebige Rotweine, die je nach Anbaugebiet mal kräftiger oder sanfter ausfallen. Die Weine sind vor allem als gute Essensbegleiter zu verstehen.
Neben den Rotweinen ist das Bordelais auch für seine hochwertigen edelsüßen Sauternes bekannt.

What a fabulous white Bordeaux from the estate. certainly one of the best that I have ever encountered.

50 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 47 % Merlot. 2 % Petit Verdot. 1 % Cabernet Franc. Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Extrem dunkelbeerig mit vielen Rauchnuancen, Lakritze, dunklen Edelhölzer, Guinness-Biermalz und Black Currant im ersten Ansatz. Nach ein paar Minuten kommt eine feine Zimtnuance zum Tragen, Heidelbeerenmark und Tahiti-Vanilleschote. Das Aromenpaket ist in sich gekehrt und bleibt noch etwas im Innern obwohl der Wein gleichfalls auch verschwenderische Ansätze zeigt. Ausgeglichene, royale Adstringenz aufweisend, cremiges Extrakt mit massiver, aber nicht überladener Konzentration, bleibt blaubeerig und hat in sich eine nicht erklärbare Faszination. Trotz der absolut modernen Vinifikation bleibt er irgendwie klassisch. Nach dem Spucken blieb er minutenlang im Gaumen zurück. Und mir blieb dabei förmlich die Spucke weg. Das war mein grösster Pape-Clément als Jungweinprobe. Fünf Mal verkostet. Er ist momentan der beste Pessac-Léognan. Mit der Gefahr, dass ihn Haut-Brion oder Mission einmal ein- möglicherweise überholen werden. Aber vor 20 Jahren wird dies nicht der Fall sein!

What a lovely red-cherry and pomegranate nose this medium-bodied. elegantly structured St.-Emilion has. Very fresh finish with plenty of chalky minerality that builds on the long. clean finish. An excellent food-wine. Second wine of Bélair-Monange. A blend of 97 per cent merlot and three per cent cabernet franc. Drink or hold.

Château Bélair-Monange was born from the fusion of the vineyards of Châteaux Bélair and Magdelaine. both historic First Classified Growths of Saint-Émilion.

Château Bélair was acquired by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 2008. Tracing its origins back to Roman times. the vineyard is situated at the highest point of Saint-Émilion’s famed limestone plateau. Château Magdelaine. a contiguous cru acquired in 1952. has always been renowned for the remarkable elegance of its wines. Château Bélair-Monange expresses the unique style of the greatest parcels of these two complementary terroirs.

Following the restructuring of the estate initiated in 2008. another wine embodying the inherent qualities of the vineyard – minerality. concentration of red berries. balance and length – emerged in 2014: ANNONCE DE BÉLAIR-MONANGE

Produced in very limited quantities. ANNONCE enjoys the same attention as the Grand Vin: meticulous vineyard work undertaken with respect for the environment followed by a manual harvest once the grapes have reached optimal maturity. Vinification takes place in concrete and stainless-steel vats. where maceration and extraction are gentle and measured in order to allow the fruit its highest expression. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels.

Although ANNONCE exhibits great charm in its youth. a few years of cellaring or a few hours of decanting will be largely rewarded.

Complex nose of blackberries, raspberries, elderberries and spices. Earthy notes, too. It’s full-bodied with elegant tannins. Suave, fleshy texture on the palate. Flavorful finish with length. Lots of character. Second wine of Belair-Monange. Try after 2024.

Eine wichtige Umstrukturierung des Weinbergs wurde 2008 unmittelbar nach dem Erwerb des Weinguts durch Ets eingeleitet. Jean-Pierre Moueix. Anschließend entstand ein weiterer Wein, der die inhärenten Eigenschaften des Weinbergs verkörpert - Mineralität, Konzentration der roten Beeren, Gleichgewicht und Länge -: ANNONCE DE BÉLAIR-MONANGE. ANNONCE wird in sehr begrenzten Mengen hergestellt und genießt die gleiche Aufmerksamkeit wie der Grand Vin: akribische, umweltfreundliche Weinbergarbeiten, gefolgt von einer manuellen Ernte, sobald die Trauben die optimale Reife erreicht haben. Die Weinbereitung erfolgt in Bottichen aus Beton und Edelstahl, in denen Mazeration und Extraktion schonend und gemessen werden, um der Frucht ihren höchsten Ausdruck zu verleihen. Der Wein reift dann in französischen Eichenfässern. Obwohl ANNONCE in seiner Jugend großen Charme zeigt, werden einige Jahre Keller oder einige Stunden Dekantieren weitgehend belohnt.

Winter und Frühling waren sehr regnerisch. Ein später Knospenbruch am 9. April ermöglichte es uns, einen Frühlingsfrost zu vermeiden. Die Blüte vom 23. bis 30. Mai verlief gut und die potenzielle Qualität war signifikant. Der regnerische Frühling verursachte einen schweren Mehltauanfall, der dank der erheblichen Anstrengungen unserer Weinbergarbeiter vereitelt wurde. Während des Sommers hat ein Team von 60 Mitarbeitern die Ernte verdünnt und den gewünschten Ertrag an das Paket und das Alter der Reben angepasst. Nahezu perfekte Balance war die Belohnung für 16.800 Stunden sorgfältiger Arbeit. Die Véraison fand vom 26. Juli bis 12. August statt. Auch im jüngsten verfügbaren Jahrgang 2020 ist der Haut Tropchaud eine wirkliche Perle des Pomerol Plateau. Für mich unterscheidet sich der JG 2020 beim Haut Tropchaud vom 2019er Haut Tropchaud in seiner Intensität. Seine Frucht ist noch eine Nuance tiefer und schwarzbeeriger als beim verführerischen Vorgänger. Auch seine Tanninstruktur weisst eine kompaktere Struktur auf, alles in allem würde ich sagen, dass der JG 2020 bei Haut Tropchaud die bisherige Spitze des Schaffens ist. Den Wein verfolge ich nun schon über ein halbes Jahr, in gewissen Abständen nach seiner Ankunft im September 2022. Zunächst brauchte er mindestens 2 Tage um zu seiner gewohnten Tiefe und Leichtigkeit zu gelangen. Doch jetzt rückt alles immer mehr an den Rechten Platz, man hat fast das Gefühl der Haut Tropchaud 2020 hat Platz genommen um Sie auf eine Genussreise mitzunehmen die Sie für diesen unverschämt charmanten Preis in Pomerol kein zweites Mal erfahren werden.

The 2015 Vieux Chateau Certan was bottled in mid-May as usual. This was one of the wines of the vintage out of barrel. and now it has a compelling bouquet with blackberry. smoke and iris. There is wonderful delineation here. a cerebral bouquet that is quite mercurial in the glass. traces of black truffle emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and just a killer line of acidity. a Vieux Chateau Certan surfeit with energy and joie de vivre. It fans out in glorious. almost swaggering fashion with truffle and white pepper. a touch of truffle on the persistent finish. This is clearly destined to be one among the canon of legendary wines from the estate although it does deserve requisite cellaring. This is one of the wines of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2025 - 2055.

Dies durch seine parfumierte Art von Lakritze. Rauch und ganz dunklem Malz. Nicht zu unterschätzen. In einer Dekade könnte dies der beste Pomerol sein und somit wäre er dann mit den zu erwartenden 19/20 ziemlich einsam an der Spitze.

Seit 2009 ist eine Auswahl von Kiesparzellen im nordöstlichen Teil des Weinguts dem Espérance de Trotanoy gewidmet, einem Wein, der nach nur wenigen Jahren des Kellerns fruchtbetont und zugänglich ist, aber die Tiefe beibehält. Komplexität und Konzentration des Geschmacks, die für Trotanoys Terroir charakteristisch sind. Der Trotanoy-Weinberg, der sich in einem der am besten exponierten Gebiete des Plateaus befindet und teilweise von den dramatischen Frösten von 1956 verschont bleibt, fällt sanft nach Westen ab. Der Boden ist eine sehr dichte Mischung aus Ton und Kies, die dazu neigt, sich zu verfestigen, wenn sie nach dem Regen zu einer fast betonartigen Härte austrocknet, daher der Name „Trot-Anoy“ - „zu mühsam“, um sie zu kultivieren. Der Boden am höchsten Punkt der Exposition enthält einen guten Anteil an Kies, der mit abnehmender Höhe zunehmend von Ton dominiert wird. Unter diesem Ton befindet sich ein Untergrund aus rotem Kies und eine undurchlässige Schicht aus hartem, eisenreichem Boden, die als „Crasse de Fer“ bekannt ist. Infos zum JG 2018
Winter und Frühling waren sehr regnerisch. Ein später Knospenbruch am 9. April ermöglichte es uns, einen Frühlingsfrost zu vermeiden. Die Blüte vom 23. bis 30. Mai verlief gut und die potenzielle Qualität war signifikant. Der regnerische Frühling verursachte einen schweren Mehltauanfall, der dank der erheblichen Anstrengungen unserer Weinbergarbeiter vereitelt wurde. Während des Sommers hat ein Team von 60 Mitarbeitern die Ernte verdünnt und den gewünschten Ertrag an das Paket und das Alter der Reben angepasst. Die Véraison fand vom 26. Juli bis 12. August statt. Nahezu perfekte Balance war die Belohnung für 16.800 Stunden sorgfältiger Arbeit. Das Hauptmerkmal dieses Jahrgangs waren die 1.136 Sonnenstunden zwischen Juni und September, ein bemerkenswerter Rekord der letzten fünfzig Jahre. Die Ernte fand bei sonnigem Himmel und warmen Temperaturen vom 14. September bis 3. Oktober statt. Der Wein ist seidig, dominiert von schwarzen Früchten und Lakritznoten und bietet sofortigen Genuss.

Blended of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Clos St. Martin displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is scented of plum preserves, blackberry pie, wild blueberries and incense with touches of unsmoked cigars and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with vibrant, well-delineated black fruit layers with alluring red fruit accents and a firm frame of velvety tannins, finishing long and lively.

Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Wuchtiges Bouquet mit schwarzen Kirschen, Cassis, Rauch und Lakritze. Beim zweiten Ansatz erste, feine Kräuternoten zeigend. Er weiss bereits nasal schon aufzufallen. Im Gaumen mit viel Stoff aufwartend, die Tannine sind reichlich vorhanden, runden sich aber bereits etwas ab, das Finale zeigt Brombeermark. Vanilleschote und wiederum enorm viel Lakritze. Ein legendärer CIos St. Martin mit einem dekadenhaften Potential. P.S. Die Wertung ist ohne Vitamin B entstanden. Der Wein ist wirklich so sensationell.

The 2015 Clos Saint Martin falls under the Moueix umbrella and is certainly one of the gems in their lineup. A blend of 90% Merlot and 5% each of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s slightly reserved on the nose, but man, what a palate! Notes of strawberries, black raspberries, vanilla bean, toasted bread and dried flowers all flow to a full-bodied, opulent, huge wine that stays incredibly well balanced and elegant, with no hard edges and a cashmere-like texture. Count me impressed. I’d be thrilled to drink bottles anytime over the coming two decades.
