The 2019 La Vieille Cure has a well-defined bouquet of lively blackberry, raspberry preserve and cedar aromas, very focused and displaying beautifully integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied and sapid, with fine-grained tannins, and maybe a little lactic toward the finish, which reveals a smear of dark chocolate and fans out nicely on the aftertaste. An excellent Fronsac.

A year-in, year-out best value, the 2019 Château La Vieille Cure is another winner from this château that does everything right. Revealing a deep ruby/purple hue as well as great aromatics of black cherries, tobacco leaf, spicy oak, and loamy earth, it's medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced, has silky tannins, and a great finish. It's just an impeccably made, satisfying, classic Right Bank beauty to drink over the coming 10-12 years. Bravo!

The 2018 Clos de l Oratoire is another stunning wine in Stephan von Neipperg s range. The greater presence of Cabernet Franc. along with a move towards earlier picking. no SO2 at crush and less oak influence are some of the factors that have completely transformed Clos de l Oratoire from the powerhouse it often was to a wine of total and exquisite finesse. Inky dark fruit. lavender. sage. and mint give the 2018 striking aromatic depth. but it is the wine total sense of harmony that impresses most. The 2018 is fabulous. That is all there is to it. This deserves 3–4 years in bottle.

Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru mit 95+ Punkten von Jeb Dunnuck bewertet Jeb Dunnuck im März 2021 über den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru:

The Cabernet Franc-dominated 2018 Château Petit Gravet Aîné (there's 20% Merlot) comes from the upper plateau in Saint-Emilion and was raised in new French oak. It's handled its élevage nicely and has just subtle vanilla and spicy oak notes as well as impressive red, black, and blue fruits intermixed with notes of acacia flowers, spice box, forest floor, and tobacco. Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

The 2018 Petit Gravet Aîné is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, weighing in with 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with vibrant notes of kirsch, black raspberries and stewed plum, plus hints of lavender, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is juicy and plush, featuring loads of fragrant earth nuances to back up the ripe red and black berry layers and bags of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This is an effortlessly beautiful Saint-Émilion! This is a tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard in the Saint-Émilion foothills, situated west of Château Canon-La-Gaffelière in deep, sandy-clay soils.

The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier is a magical wine in the making, wafting from the glass with aromas of wild plums, crushed blackcurrants and violets mingled with hints of pencil shavings, subtle spices and coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, with a vibrant core of fruit, beautifully refined tannins and lively acids, it's exquisitely elegant and harmonious, concluding with a long, perfumed finish. Stylistically, this wine exhibits a much closer affinity with the great Domaine de Chevalier of yesteryear than much of what was produced here in the early 2000s. It's a masterclass in what contemporary Bordeaux can deliver, and worth a special effort to seek out.

The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier remains a little reticent on the nose at first and takes time to unfurl in the glass (often a good sign, in my book), revealing black fruit, crushed rock, undergrowth and just a touch of brine, perhaps less than in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied, poised and harmonious, with fine-grained tannins, wonderful mineralité and a gentle build toward the saline finish. It gains weight and cohesion with aeration. A noble Domaine de Chevalier that will age with style.

This estate makes an incredibly classic, elegant Saint-Emilion. The 2018 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is based on 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in 65% new French oak. Coming from a beautiful terroir on the upper plateau, it reveals a deep purple/ruby color as well as perfumed cassis and mulberry fruits intermixed with ample spring flowers, chalky minerality, violets, and graphite. Medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated on the palate, it has terrific mid-palate depth, flawless balance, background oak, and polished yet significant tannins. If you want to know what limestone soil gives to a wine, try this! It has the polish and balance to offer pleasure today, yet the cellar will be your friend. This warrants 5-7 years of bottle age and will have 30+ years of prime drinking.

Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru verkostet Christian Balog von CB Weinhandel in Essen für Sie wie folgt: Christian Balog beschreibt den Wein wie folgt:

Cuvee: 71.5 Merlot / 14.5 Cabernet Franc / 14 Cabernet Sauvignon. 90-92+ Punkte

93-94 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 am 11.04.2019 wie folgt:

This is the best Quinault ever for me with beautiful density and depth of fruit. Full body, velvety tannins and a long and intense finish. Lots of fruit. but the tannins hold it together.

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 im April 2019 wie folgt:

This a very gravelly soil with great drainage, but not a lot of water during dry periods. Adeptly produced by the team of Cheval Blanc (who purchased the estate in 2008), the wine nonetheless maintained its poise under the dry. warm ripening conditions of 2018, coming in at a respectable pH of 3.67 and relatively moderate alcohol of 14.1%. The 2018 Quinault l Enclos is blended of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc with 50% new oak and the rest in one-year-old barrels - but only 500-liter and foudres. Deep purple-black in color, it slips seductively out of the glass with notions of warm plums, blueberry preserves and mulberries with touches of spice box, tilled soil, black olives and licorice plus a waft of lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with muscular black fruit and licorice sparks, framed by rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery kick.

91-94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni beschreibt den Wein im Mai 2019 wie folgt:

The 2018 Quinault L Enclos is impressive. Creamy and ample, the 2018 stands out for its textural breadth. There is a level of intensity in the 2018 that previous vintages have not achieved, with a balance of Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that is striking for such a young wine. All of the work the Cheval Blanc team has done here over the last ten years have begun to pay off big time. Half of the property was replanted between 2008 and 2012 with more Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc from Cheval and Merlot on later-ripening rootstock. In the glass, the 2018 Quinault offers a striking interplay of floral and savory aromatic and layered fruit, with ripe, silky tannins that caress a core of plush, plaint fruit and a gorgeous, saline-infused finish. There is a level of precision in the 2018 that is positively breathtaking.

This is one of the best wines I have had from here. Full-bodied yet focused and super dynamic. Tight and linear with fantastic length and energy at the end. Exciting.

Dark plum and boysenberry fruit is laced with tobacco and chalk notes, while the fleshy grip slowly builds through the finish. This is seriously long and though the fruit is gorgeous, the minerality steals the show in the end.

95-97 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Clos Fourtet is a little youthfully mute to begin. With coaxing, it opens out to notes of crushed blackberries, warm black plums and wild blueberries plus suggestions of forest floor, lavender. baking spices and potpourri. Full-bodied, the palate has an amazing texture of soft, plush tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the layer upon layer of berries and spices, finishing long and fragrant. Total time in barrel should run 16 months in 60% new and 40% one-year old barriques. The blend is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.

One of the wines of the vintage, the 2018 Clos Fourtet is positively stunning. In the glass, the 2018 sizzles with tension and energy. A whole range of floral. mineral and red berry notes develop, but it is the wine's exceptional sense of harmony that leaves the deepest impression. Consulting winemakers Stephane Derenoncourt and Jean-Claude Berrouet turned out a glorious Clos Fourtet in 2018. Don't miss it. The blend is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

What strikes you is how aromatic this already is at this stage. Complex and decadent, showing lots of dark berries, smoked meat, wet earth, and dried leaves. Decadent. Full-bodied with very ripe and polished, velvety tannins. Great finish.

97-99 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Thirty-three plots contributed to this wine, out of the 43 in production. Five went into Petit Cheval and five into bulk. The 2018 Cheval Blanc is a blend of 54% Merlot. 40% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, with a 3.75 pH and 14.5% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color, the nose is more open at the core of the wine than the Le Petit Cheval, strutting out of the glass with bold, ripe black cherries, cassis, warm plums and raspberry preserves notes. With coaxing, a whole array of fragrant spice, floral and earth notes emerge, followed by candied violets, star anise, powdered cinnamon, iron ore, tapenade and truffles plus wafts of camphor and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firm yet possesses a beautifully plush structure of velvety tannins wrapping round the densely packed, complex, fragrant fruit, with seamless freshness and a very long, layered finish.

97-100 Punkte bei Vinous für den Chateau-Cheval-Blanc-2018-Saint-EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Cheval Blanc is dazzling. Creamy, supple and inviting, the 2018 is endowed with phenomenal balance. The tannins and overall structure are imposing and yet the richness of the fruit and perfect ripeness of the tannin really stand out. In 2018, Cheval is a bit richer than is often the case, but that is not at all a bad thing. I am struck by how much freshness and energy the 2018 has. Hints of lavender, spice and licorice add shades of nuance, but it is the wine's overall sense of harmony that leaves the strongest impression. A precise counterpoint of fruit richness and finesse makes for a truly unforgettable Cheval Blanc und vergibt ihm 97-100 Punkte.

Dark plum and boysenberry fruit flavors are inlaid liberally with a smoky tobacco leaf note in this red. A tug of dark earth at the end gives this a little gutsy feel too.

Deep garnet-purple colored. the 2018 Puygueraud features scents of warm blueberries. plum preserves and kirsch with touches of chocolate box and yeast extract. The 2018 Puygueraud packs a serious punch. Bold. super-ripe and explosive. the 2018 possesses striking depth at this level. Blackberry jam. chocolate. grilled herbs and spice are all generous in this rich Côtes de Francs. It will be interesting to see how the 2018 develops during elevage. Today. it is quite promising and complex. especially within its peer group. Even with gentler hand in vinification. the 2018 is a powerful wine that very much shows the richness of the year. The blend is 85% Merlot. 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec. Tasted three times.
