The 2019 Sociando-Mallet has a lovely bouquet with vivacious raspberry. wild strawberry and rose petal scents. touches of undergrowth coming through with time. one of the most elegant noses from this property in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit. crushed stone and a discrete pinch of white pepper. focused and full of energy on the finish. What a superb Sociando-Mallet.

The medium to full-bodied palate is beautifully crafted, dripping with poise and sophistication, draped in plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering black cherry note. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice, blood orange and cinnamon are all beautifully layered. Even so, the 2018 was a bit more impressive en primeur. Hopefully, it is just closed post-bottling. Cassis, black cherries, lead pencil, and violet notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. The purity and finesse are truly something here, and while it already offers pleasure, it deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will evolve for 20+ years.

Quite persistent in the mouth, yet accessible, this will be difficult to resist (but try). [One sample had a more briny finish than others.

In 2019, Gloria is defined by its intensely feral personality and tannins. Perhaps time will help. Today, Gloria does not appear to be quite the charmer that it can be.

This is an especially succulent, richly textured Langoa, and that's not a bad thing for a wine that in some vintages is a bit light.

A delicious, classically-styled Langoa-Barton. Very fine. 13.92% alcohol
