92-93 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Cote de Baleau 2018 Saint EmilionJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Cote de Baleau 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

A silky and refined young St.-Emilion with crushed blueberries and blackberries, as well as some black-olive flavors, following through to firm tannins and freshness at the finish.

88-90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cote de Baleau 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Cote de Baleau 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cote de Baleau offers up notions of raisin cake, prunes and Chinese five spice with touches of tobacco and fallen leaves. Rich, full-bodied and very spicy in the dried berry-laced mouth, it has a chewy texture and lively lift on the finish.

89-92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cote de Baleau 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Cote de Baleau 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Cote de Baleau is a very pretty, understated wine built on precision and nuance. Sweet floral and spice notes add character to a nuanced, pleasant Saint-emilion that will drink well pretty much on release. This is very nicely done. The purity of the flavors is striking. Tasted two times.

Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru verkostet Christian Balog von CB Weinhandel in Essen für Sie wie folgt: Christian Balog beschreibt den Wein wie folgt:

Cuvee: 71.5 Merlot / 14.5 Cabernet Franc / 14 Cabernet Sauvignon. 90-92+ Punkte

93-94 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 am 11.04.2019 wie folgt:

This is the best Quinault ever for me with beautiful density and depth of fruit. Full body, velvety tannins and a long and intense finish. Lots of fruit. but the tannins hold it together.

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 im April 2019 wie folgt:

This a very gravelly soil with great drainage, but not a lot of water during dry periods. Adeptly produced by the team of Cheval Blanc (who purchased the estate in 2008), the wine nonetheless maintained its poise under the dry. warm ripening conditions of 2018, coming in at a respectable pH of 3.67 and relatively moderate alcohol of 14.1%. The 2018 Quinault l Enclos is blended of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc with 50% new oak and the rest in one-year-old barrels - but only 500-liter and foudres. Deep purple-black in color, it slips seductively out of the glass with notions of warm plums, blueberry preserves and mulberries with touches of spice box, tilled soil, black olives and licorice plus a waft of lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with muscular black fruit and licorice sparks, framed by rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery kick.

91-94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni beschreibt den Wein im Mai 2019 wie folgt:

The 2018 Quinault L Enclos is impressive. Creamy and ample, the 2018 stands out for its textural breadth. There is a level of intensity in the 2018 that previous vintages have not achieved, with a balance of Merlot. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that is striking for such a young wine. All of the work the Cheval Blanc team has done here over the last ten years have begun to pay off big time. Half of the property was replanted between 2008 and 2012 with more Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc from Cheval and Merlot on later-ripening rootstock. In the glass, the 2018 Quinault offers a striking interplay of floral and savory aromatic and layered fruit, with ripe, silky tannins that caress a core of plush, plaint fruit and a gorgeous, saline-infused finish. There is a level of precision in the 2018 that is positively breathtaking.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni beschreibt den Chateau Laroque 2018 im März 2021 wie folgt:

The 2018 Laroque is every bit as impressive as it was from barrel. Silky, polished and refined, the 2018 marks a major step forward for the château. Lavender, spice, blueberry, cedar and mint all grace a Saint-Émilion built more on finesse than power. The long, persistent finish, with its saline accents, adds to the wine's pedigree. The 2018 is beautifully done. The blend is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Technical Director David Suire gave the 2018 lots 26-29 days on the skins fermented in cement, with manual pump-overs and punch-downs. New oak is 55%

94 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint EmilionJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Aromas of ripe blackcurrants, spiced cherries, cloves, praline, tea leaves and crushed gravel. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, tightly knit tannins and fresh acidity. Fleshy, chewy layers lead to a long, mineral finish. Late bottling helped here. Try from 2023.

95 Puntke vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Laroque is composed of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, aged in 50% new barriques. The alcohol is 14.5% and the pH is 3.48. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with flamboyant notes of stewed black plums, Black Forest cake and boysenberries, plus hints of candied violets, star anise and unsmoked cigars with a playful waft of sassafras. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with juicy black fruits, supported by plush tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and fragrant.

96 Punkte bei Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint EmilionJeb Dunnuck beschreibt den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru im April 2019 wie folgt:

This estate is in a cool, limestone terroir on the eastern side of Saint- Emilion, and it's been firing on all cylinders over the past decade, in no small part due to the talented director, David Suire. The 2018 Château Laroque checks in as almost all Merlot (there is 3% Cabernet Franc) that comes from an incredibly strict selection of just 41% of the total production. Brought up in a mix of new and used barrels, it's more about finesse than power, offering a gorgeous perfume of ripe black cherries, mulberries, cassis, violets, spring flowers, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied, pure, and incredibly elegant on the palate, it builds nicely with time in the glass, has ultra-fine tannins, flawlessly integrated tannins, acidity and fruit, and a great finish. It's as classy as they come. Approachable today with a decant, it will drink nicely for 20 years or more. Readers looking for an impeccably made, classic, high-quality Saint-Emilion that doesn't break the bank should back up the truck for this beauty.

Intense aromas and flavors of blue fruit and violets. Hints of green tea and black olives. Changes all the time. Medium-to full-bodied with polished and very silky tannins. Love the center palate. The finish lasts for minutes. This year, about one-third cabernet franc gives an edge to the merlot and the touch of cabernet sauvignon.

91-93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Bellefont-Belcier 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Bellefont-Belcier 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Bellefont Belcier delivers profound notions of warm plums, baked cherries and mulberries with hints of spice cake and underbrush. Full-bodied, rich and decadent, it has a rock-solid backbone of rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy. Aging is in progress for an anticipated 20 months in 40% new. 40% one year-old and 20% two year-old barrels. The blend is 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

90-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Bellefont-Belcier 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Bellefont-Belcier 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Bellefont-Belcier is dark. powerful and quite brooding, but also noticeably less extracted than in the past. Succulent dark cherry, plum, violet, lavender, graphite and spice all infuse this savory, virile Saint-emilion. All of the signatures are in place, but delivered with more nuance than was once the case. Consulting winemaker Thomas Duclos has ushered in quite a change at the property in his first vintage here. Tasted three times.

Very intense blackberries, black olives, blueberries and dried flowers. Stony minerality. Even some pine. Full-bodied with superb depth of fruit and ultra fine tannins that are intense and polished. The finish is so long and delivers so much flavor, from wet earth to blackberry again. Seamless palate. Try after 2026.

98 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Belair Monange 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:
Made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Belair Monange rolls effortlessly out of the glass with gregarious scents of black cherry preserves, stewed plums and boysenberries, plus suggestions of Indian spices, rose oil, Ceylon tea and garrigue, with a waft of tilled soil. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Wonderfully hedonic and conceivably drinkable now, give it 4-5 years in the cellar to allow the earthy/savory nuances to fully emerge from within the fruit and drink it over the next 25 years or more.

98 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für denJeb Dunnuck beschreibt den Wein in seiner Verkostungsnotis vom 11.03.2021 wie folgt:
An incredible expression of Merlot grown on limestone soils, the 2018 Château Belair-Monange (90/10 Merlot and Cabernet Franc) sports a dense purple hue as well as powerful notes of blackcurrants, kirsch liqueur, flowery incense, chalky minerality, and white truffle. Rich, full-bodied, and beautifully concentrated, it's a serious 2018 offering integrated oak, ripe yet building tannins, and one hell of a great finish. The finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted, it's a wine to seek out and hide in the cellar for a good 5-7 years. It's going to evolve for 30-40 years.

Sleek, pure, aromatic and streamlined version, with lovely cassis, cherry puree, violet and mesquite notes tightly wound together, while anise and savory hints peek in. The 2018 Pavie Macquin is a blend of 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly, sensuously unfurls to reveal a gorgeous perfume of Black Forest cake, Morello cherries, baked plums and violets, with nuances of licorice, Indian spices and fertile loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has achingly plush tannins and fantastic freshness framing the spicy black fruit and mineral layers, finishing long and so, so fragrant. Wow—just stunning!

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Pavie Macquin 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Pavie Macquin was impressive out of barrel. It has retained its opulent bouquet, perhaps becoming even more luxuriant and plush, offering copious black cherries, cassis and violet aromas and hints of vanilla pod and iodine in the background. The palate is where this really impresses, because its opulence is effortlessly counterbalanced by a bead of acidity that imparts freshness and tension. This is a multilayered Pavie-Macquin endowed with tremendous length on the aftertaste. Even after 60 seconds I can still feel this Saint-Émilion lapping upon my senses. Superb.

100 Punkte Auszeichnung von Jeb DunnuckThe 2018 Château Larcis Ducasse checks in as 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc that comes from a gorgeous hillside terroir on the Côte Pavie, located between Château Pavie and Château Bellefont-Belcier. Aged 18 months in 60% new barrels, it offers a truly sensational bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, espresso roast, scorched earth, bloody meat, chocolate, iron, and bouquet garni. A massive, super-rich Saint-Emilion with a dense, concentrated, layered mouthfeel, it has building yet sweet tannins and incredible purity of fruit. Reminding me of the 2005 shortly after release, this heavenly juice offers astonishing richness and depth while staying flawlessly balanced and elegant. Sadly, there are less than 3,000 cases produced, but this monumental, legendary wine won't hit maturity for a good 8-10 years and will have 40-50 years of longevity if well stored. Hats off to Nicolas Thienpont and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt for producing one of the wines of the vintage as well as one of the greatest young Bordeaux I've ever tasted.

96 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Larcis Ducasse needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock notes of crushed blackberries, plum preserves and boysenberries with suggestions of black truffles, tapenade and crushed rocks coming through, building to a subtle underlying perfume of roses and cloves. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits and loads of savory sparks, framed by firm, slightly chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Larcis Ducasse is one of the real overachievers of the vintage. Richness and classicism meld together in a Saint-Émilion that dazzles from the very first taste. Rich dark fruit, mocha, licorice, espresso and leather all open in the glass. Time brings out bright acids and that firm spice of Larcis tannin. More than that, though, Larcis impresses with its exquisite balance and class. It is easily one of the most undervalued wines on the Right Bank. Don't let its modest price fool you. Larcis is one the most compelling wines of the vintage. Don't miss it!

Sweet crème de cassis, black raspberries, kirsch, and spicy oak emerge from the 2018 Château Pindefleurs, which is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from more gravelly clay soils. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, and seamless, it hits the palate with a light, graceful texture, no sensation of weight or heaviness, and sweet tannins. Very juicy, with lots of blackberry and black currant compote flavors. The ample toast has yet to be fully soaked up, with notes of licorice root and singed apple wood jutting out. A bit chewy on the finish. Slightly unbridled today, but if this rounds into form it will be a real winner.

92-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Barde Haut 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Barde Haut 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Barde-Haut is a rich, heady wine. Crème de cassis, blackberry jam, chocolate, leather and spice race out of the glass in this flamboyant, exotically ripe Saint-emilion. There is no shortage of stuffing, but the wine needs time to come together. Specifically, the new oak needs to integrate more fully, but this is a barrel sample, and it is not uncommon to see wines at this stage showing this way. The more exotic side of the vintage is very much on display. The harvest ranged from September 29 to October 12. which is relatively drawn out by the estate's standards.

The 2019 Grand Mayne has a beautifully defined, pure bouquet of black cherry, blueberry, crushed violet and mineral aromas. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, crisp acidity and touches of dark chocolate toward the finish, which displays both power and elegance. This is a superb Grand Mayne courtesy of Jean-Antoine Nony.

Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru mit 95+ Punkten von Jeb Dunnuck bewertet Jeb Dunnuck im März 2021 über den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru:

The Cabernet Franc-dominated 2018 Château Petit Gravet Aîné (there's 20% Merlot) comes from the upper plateau in Saint-Emilion and was raised in new French oak. It's handled its élevage nicely and has just subtle vanilla and spicy oak notes as well as impressive red, black, and blue fruits intermixed with notes of acacia flowers, spice box, forest floor, and tobacco. Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

95+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruLisa Perrotti Brown im März 2021 bewertet den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru:

The 2018 Petit Gravet Aîné is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, weighing in with 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with vibrant notes of kirsch, black raspberries and stewed plum, plus hints of lavender, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is juicy and plush, featuring loads of fragrant earth nuances to back up the ripe red and black berry layers and bags of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This is an effortlessly beautiful Saint-Émilion! This is a tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard in the Saint-Émilion foothills, situated west of Château Canon-La-Gaffelière in deep, sandy-clay soils.

What a great nose with such complexity of blackberry, forest floor, mushroom and bark. Like walking in a deep forest. Full-bodied with a dense palate, yet it remains energetic and focused. Very fine texture. Flavorful finish. Extremely persistent. Fantastic young 2019. Try after 2028.

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2019 Pessac LeognanAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2019 Pessac Leognan:

Technical Director Guillaume Pouthier turned out another stellar wine with the 2019 Les Carmes Haut-Brion. Elegant, polished and wonderfully nuanced to the core, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. Whole clusters enhance a whole range of Cabernet Franc inflections in a wine that is immediately seductive. On the palate, the 2019 is creamy and textured. Plum, blood orange, spice, mocha and dried herbs lend an exotic quality that is so alluring. The 2019 is a mysterious, totally seductive wine that no one who is serious about Bordeaux will want to miss. To be sure, Les Carmes is far from typical, but it is incredibly unique. Its longevity is likely to be measured in multiples of decades. Quite simply, I loved it.

96 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2019 Pessac LeognanWilliam Kelley im April 2022:

The 2019 Les Carmes Haut-Brion has turned out very well in bottle. Mingling aromas of plums and cassis with notions of blood orange, warm spices and new oak, it's full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with an ample core of bright, succulent fruit that's framed by an elegantly muscular chassis of ripe, powdery tannins and lively acids. Concluding with a long, expansive finish, it's reminiscent of a more giving, extroverted version of Pouthier's superb 2016. As is now the rule at this address, some whole bunches were retained during maceration, and the wine saw a long élevage in a variety of vessels, from classic 225-liter Bordeaux barriques to foudres and amphorae. The blend is dominated by 42% Cabernet Franc, complemented by 31% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Merlot.

A riper, richer wine in the vintage, the 2019 Château Bellevue offers up lots of blackberry and currant-like fruits as well as spicy oak, chocolate, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has ripe, polished tannins, shows the purity of the vintage, and just has loads of character. I like this today, but it should evolve positively over the coming 4-5 years and hold at a plateau for 15+

Superb.
