92 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Mangot 2019 Saint Emilion Grand CruWilliam Kelley im April 2022:

Bursting from the glass with notes of plus, sweet red berries and hints of licorice, the 2019 Mangot is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with beautifully powdery tannins and a succulent core of fruit. Giving, charming and lively, it has turned out very well. Traditional barriques are complemented by amphorae in the chai.

1 Dec, 2021 – Beautiful, intense fruit, dark-earth and chocolate character on the nose. Full-bodied with great density and plush, fine tannins that give a fine-velvet texture. It’s extremely long, polished and sophisticated. Needs time to come together, but expressive and glorious. Fantastic relative value. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Drink after 2025.

93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019William Kelley im April 2022:

From clay-rich soils opposite Troplong Mondot in the commune Saint Christophe des Bardes, the 2019 Tour Saint Christophe offers up demonstrative aromas of cherries, wild berries, sweet loamy soil, licorice and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins, it's a strong effort in a crowd-pleasing style.

94 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint EmilionJeb Dunnuck im April 2022:

TThis estate has been delivering the goods for numerous vintages now, and the 2019 Château Tour Saint Christophe is another terrific wine. Ripe black cherries, black raspberries, graphite, new leather, and chalky minerality all define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a tight, straight, focused texture, ripe yet present tannins, and outstanding length. It doesn't have the mid-palate density or opulence of the 2018, but it’s more pretty, focused, and straight on the palate. Give bottles 4-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Tour Saint Christophe is a fabulous wine that marries fruit intensity and structure. Black cherry, graphite, dried herbs, menthol, licorice and spice give this driving, potent Saint-Émilion tons of character. Tour Saint-Christophe remains one of the greatest values in Bordeaux. Tasted two times.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint EmilionUnd Neal Martin (vinous) zum Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Tour Saint Christophe builds on the promise it showed from barrel. This sample was actually tasted at my home, where I afforded it a two-hour decant. It revealed precocious yet controlled blackberry and blueberry fruit scents, with that violet component still intact. The tannins have not lost any of their grippiness or assertiveness. This is a Saint-Émilion that is in for the long haul. Great potential.

Komplex, engmaschig, rote Kirschen, frisch strukturiert, gut integrierte Tannine, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, ein finessenreicher Speisenbegleiter, gute Zukunft, bereits antrinkbar, sollte aber noch gut fünf Jahre heranreifen dürfen.

Shows the thickly textured dark fruit of the vintage, with steeped plum and blackberry notes cruising through slowly, carried by alder, loam and tobacco threads. Gains nuance as it airs in the glass, showing light chalky minerality for energy and balance in the process. Approachable but no rush. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The Mangot 2019 Todeschini Distique 12 is a special cuvée that celebrates the 12 years (and counting) that the Todeschini brothers have been working together at this estate and which blends 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon to deliver a more structured, concentrated wine than the regular Mangot blend. Exhibiting aromas of dark berries, baking chocolate, violets and plums, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and lively, with a deep core of fruit that's framed by fine, powdery tannins. This shows plenty of potential.

Succulent dark cherry fruit, mocha, spice, new leather, licorice and menthol build into the voluptuous finish. Laroque balances fruit intensity with energy. It is certainly impressive in 2019. 93+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Grand Corbin Despagne 2019 Saint Emilion Grand CruWilliam Kelley im April 2022:

From holdings just across the border from Pomerol characterized by predominantly sandy-clay soils, the 2019 Grand Corbin-Despagne offers up aromas of plums, sweet berries and cherries mingled with raw cocoa, cigar wrapper, licorice, violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent, with fine concentration, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins, it's a beautifully balanced classic that will age with grace. François Despagne is the seventh generation of his family to steward this 28-hectare Saint-Émilion estate, located just across the border from Pomerol, and he is intent on bringing it back to the heights of which anyone who has tasted vintages such as 1929 or 1961 know it is capable.

Returning to the estate after some years researching wine microbiology, he dug 150 soil pits—discovering that the historic delimitation of parcels on the estate corresponded precisely to the underlying geology. Soils are thin sand over blue clay, and replanting favors Cabernet Franc (with an in-house massale selection)—which represented about 60% of the surface area before the 1956 frosts and subsequent replanting. Despagne has converted to organic and biodynamic farming, reducing yields, and that is translating to new levels of depth and concentration. In the winery and cellar, however, the approach is rather classical, with a tendency to work more reductively and preserve better purity of fruit (Thomas Duclos consults), emphasizing seamlessness and depth over extraction and impact. This is an estate to watch.

The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, perhaps a little more powerful than the Barde-Haut, and displays very fine precision on the finish. A touch of white pepper furnishes the aftertaste. Probably the best Poesia ever.

Ripe black fruit (there's some red fruit as well), tobacco leaf, damp earth, exotic flowers, and some chocolaty notes all emerge from the 2019 Clos De L'Oratoire, another beautiful wine from the Neipperg family and team. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and seamless on the palate, I love its mid-palate, it has gorgeous tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. This is clearly a great vintage for this cuvée. Hide bottles for 4-5 years, and it's going to have 2-3 decades of longevity, and probably a gradual decline after that as well. It's beautiful.

Powerful and explosive in the glass, the 2019 Clos de l'Oratoire possesses tremendous depth and density from start to finish. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice, spice, menthol and lavender are all amplified in this potent, structured Saint-Émilion. Give it a few years to soften.

93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denWilliam kelley im April 2022:

Stephan von Neipperg's 2019 Clos de l'Oratoire has turned out very nicely in bottle, opening in the glass to reveal aromas of sweet wild berries, cherries, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's broad and succulent, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a nicely defined finish. It's produced from holdings on sandy-clay soils in the northeast of Saint-Émilion.

The 2019 Clos de l’Oratoire is an absolute gem from Stéphan von Neipperg. The beautifully defined nose unfurls with each swirl of the glass, revealing blackberry, briar and touches of wild mint and heather, all precise and focused. The palate is medium-bodied, quite sapid and classic in style, offering fine structure, gentle grip on the finish, and touches of black pepper and clove on the aftertaste. This is excellent and well worth seeking out.

The 2019 Fombrauge, which was bottled in spring 2021, retains the opulence that I found from barrel, still showing that heady mixture of blackberry, blueberry and a touch of cooked meat, if perhaps just requiring a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and generous, with succulent ripe tannins, a satiny texture and a gossamer finish that slips down the throat. Wine & Soul Manoella tinto Douro 2019

The 2019 Tinto Quinta da Manoella, sourced from 35+-year-old vines, is mostly a 60/25 blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with Tinta Roriz and Tinta Francisca filling out the blend. It was aged for 16 months in used French oak and comes in at 14% alcohol. The lesser wine, as compared to its big brother, the Vinhas Velhas this issue, this still performs well. Its real competition in the red lineup is the Pintas Character this issue, which has a similar relationship with the Pintas.
Like the difference between Pintas and the Manoella Vinhas Velhas, the Character has more depth and fruitiness while the Manoella Tinto has more focus and elegance. The bigger surprise is the fine structure here. This is simply gripping on opening, reveling in its power. As with all the wines (and typical of the winery's style), the tannins are not too hard, and this does not finish with astringency. The power is still obvious. A hypothetical cross of this and the Character would be the best result, but if forced to choose, I'd take the Character, at least today. If this regular Tinto has a flaw, it is not nearly as expressive as it should be, an area where Character excels. For today, Character is the unquestioned winner, but this backward Manoella may well win in the end. Its structure is exceptional and it has plenty of room to improve. One thing that is not in question, however, is what the better value is, given that Character is around double the price of this. This is a terrific bargain for the money, the best intersection of quality and price in the lineup this vintage. This has some things to prove in the cellar, but if it gets no better, you will have gotten your money's worth and then some.

Produced with grapes from suppliers, the 2018 Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida comes from a cooler and wetter year not without challenge. A blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano, it fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in barrels of different sizes and origins for 13 months. This is more reticent and serious, with a grainy sensation on the palate, beautifully textured. It has more austere tannins. This is probably the finest vintage for this wine so far. 2018 has produced many great wines. 87.200 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2020.

A firm, linear red with black licorice, black cherries and violets. Medium-bodied, yet the tannins are round and pretty. All here. Drink or hold
