97-98 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Calon Segur 2018James Suckling bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

The quality of the tannins is most notable here; they are present, but totally integrated and folded into the wine. Medium-to full-bodied with lovely savory fruit and a persistent and long finish. Very harmonious and fine. Yet, with air, it takes off with tannin power.

96-99 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Calon Segur 2018James Mothels bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

Delivers a laser beam of cassis, bitter plum and cherry reduction notes, with an extremely fine-grained structure carrying this through a long finish. Accents of iron and violet are piercing in their purity and definition. A very complete and precise wine.

96-98 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Calon Segur 2018Lisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

The 2018 Calon-Segur is blended of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot (14.9% alcohol). It is anticipated to age for 20 months in barriques, 100% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it needs just a little coaxing before it reveals seductive notes of baked cherries, warm cassis, licorice and smoked meats with nuances of hoisin, camphor, Chinese five spice and dried roses with a waft of cardamom. Full-bodied and completely packed with concentrated black fruit and spice layers, it has a firm frame of grainy tannins and a wicked backbone of freshness giving an energetic lift to the very long finish. There's lots of brightness coming from the Cabernet Franc component in here, but it is nonetheless a decadent expression.

96-99 Punkte bei Vinous für den Chateau Calon Segur 2018Antonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

A stratospheric, regal wine, Calon Segur embodies all the best qualities of the vintage. Rich to the point of being exotically ripe, 2018 reminds me of the 2014 in its composition, but with more of everything. On the palate, the 2018 is towering and statuesque, with soaring structure and tremendous overall intensity. Striking aromatic top notes and bright saline underpinnings give the 2018 its energy, tension and nuance. As in 2014, the entirety of the château's Cabernet Franc went into the Grand Vin. Inky, powerful and explosive, Calon Segur is a headspinning wine. Don't miss it!

This is really exotic with peaches, oranges and blackberries. Full body, lovely purity of fruit and soft and integrated tannins that are barely detectable. Extremely long and persistent. Savory. White pepper and bark with black-tea and charcoal undertones. Superb complexity. 53 per cent whole-cluster fermentation.

95-98 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac LeognanJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac Leognan wie folgt:

This throws off a stream of cassis, cherry preserves and raspberry fruit that is pure and bright, laced with a racy mineral edge through the finish. Stands apart from the pack for its purity and finesse. Really beautiful.

94-96+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac LeognanLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac Leognan wie folgt:

The 2018 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is composed of 37% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot. It was made using 52% whole cluster and has 13.75% alcohol. It is anticipated to age 18-24 months in 75% new oak barriques, 16% foudres and 9% amphorae. Deep garnet-purple colored, it is slightly broody and reduced to begin, slowly growing to reveal notions of charcoal, smoked meats, truffles and tilled soil over a core of black raspberries, warm black cherries, blackberry coulis and redcurrant jelly plus wafts of Provence herbs and iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is taut and muscular, tense with latent energy, offering a rock-solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness to support the bright, vibrant fruit, finishing long and mineral laced.

95-98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac LeognanAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac Leognan wie folgt:

The 2018 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of the wines in this vintage that comes very close to its 2016 sibling. A wine of dazzling intensity and stature, Les Carmes Haut-Brion is simply magnificent. Rose petal, wild black cherry, sage, menthol, licorice and dried herbs add myriad shades of complexity to this explosive, dense wine. As always, Les Carmes is done with a fair amount of whole clusters, 40% in this case, but in 2018, the maturity is such that the stems are very well integrated into the wine's fabric. The blend is 37% Cabernet Franc, 34% Merlot and 29% Cabernet Sauvignon.

CB Weinhandel bewertet den Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion 2018 Pessac Leognan wie folgt:
Cuvee: 39 Cabernet Franc / 41 Merlot / 20 Cabernet Sauvignon Erntezeitpunkt: zwischen 13. September und 28. September

The 2018 La Gaffelière is once again one of the finest and most pedigreed wines in Saint-Émilion and all of Bordeaux for that matter. The high percentage of Cabernet Franc (37%) gives the wine striking aromatic nuance and complexity, as well as fabulous drive. Rose petal, sage, mint and blood orange all soar out of the glass in a stunning Saint-Émilion loaded with class and personality. 92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Le Marquis de Calon Segur 2018 Saint EstepheLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

The 2018 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur is a blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon (14.9% alcohol). It is anticipated to age for 17 months in barriques, 30% new. Deep purple-black in color, it gives up opulent scents of Indian spices, menthol and plum preserves with a core of crème de cassis, baked cherries and raspberry pie plus a hint of sandalwood. Big, rich, full-bodied and voluptuously fruited in the mouth, it has bags of black fruit preserves and exotic spices with a firm, plush frame, finishing long with a minty lift. Definitely one for the hedonists! und vergibt ihm 92-94 Punkte.

“2018 was complicated to vinify because of the potentially high alcohols,” Laurent Dufau, Managing Director of Calon-Ségur and Capbern informed me. “Also, you had to be very gentle with extraction. You had to be soft, so as not to extract too much. The alcohol percentage of the Merlot was concerning—some came in at 16% potential alcohol! And the Cabernet Franc this year was amazing on this terroir.” Merlot was picked from September 19 to 25. The Cabernets came in September 26 to October 5. Petit Verdot came in on October 8th. Yields were pretty good here on average in 2018: 41 hectoliters per hectare. This year marks the final stages/completion of years of vineyard restructuring, new aging cellars and a gravity-fed vat room at Château Calon-Ségur. Most notably, they have been increasing vine density and slowly working on bringing more Cabernet Sauvignon rather than Merlot on line, as was the blend traditionally. No doubt about it, quality at Calon-Ségur has been on an upward trajectory in recent years!

91-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Le Marquis de Calon Segur 2018 Saint EstepheAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

The 2018 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is a drop-dead gorgeous second wine from Calon Ségur. Bright, lifted and punchy, the 2018 has so much to offer. Expressive floral, savory and spiced notes from the Cabernet add shades of nuance to a core of dark red and purplish berry fruit. Beautifully textured and inviting, the Marquis is positively stunning in 2018. The blend is 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly young vines planted between 2008 and 2012. It is a gorgeous second wine from Calon Ségur. Tasted four times. und vergibt ihm 91-93 Punkte.

Chateau Laroque 2018 mit 95-97 Punkten von Jeb DunnuckJeb Dunnuck beschreibt den Chateau Laroque 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru im April 2019 wie folgt:

A blend of 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc representing just 41% of the total production, the 2018 Château Laroque is still resting in barrels and oak tanks. Its deep purple color is followed by a classy bouquet of ripe black cherries, cassis, graphite, licorice, and crushed rocks. Deep, medium to full-bodied, with a beautiful mid-palate and ripe, silky tannins, it s an incredible success for the estate, which is firing on all cylinders today thanks to the talented David Suire!

The 2018 Laroque is a very pretty, pliant Saint-Émilion. Bright red raspberry, blood orange, mint and sweet floral notes give the 2018 striking energy to play off a core of radiant, supple fruit. Medium in body and gracious, Laroque has so much to offer in 2018. Although Laroque is not one of the most concentrated or structured Saint-Émilions, it is a wine of superb drinkability and pure pleasure. The blend is 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Technical Director David Suire gave the 2018 lots 26-29 days on the skins fermented in cement, with manual pumpovers and punchdowns. New oak is 55%. 93-94 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 am 11.04.2019 wie folgt:

This is the best Quinault ever for me with beautiful density and depth of fruit. Full body, velvety tannins and a long and intense finish. Lots of fruit, but the tannins hold it together.

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Quinault L Enclos 2018 im April 2019 wie folgt:

This a very gravelly soil with great drainage, but not a lot of water during dry periods. Adeptly produced by the team of Cheval Blanc (who purchased the estate in 2008), the wine nonetheless maintained its poise under the dry, warm ripening conditions of 2018, coming in at a respectable pH of 3.67 and relatively moderate alcohol of 14.1%. The 2018 Quinault l Enclos is blended of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc with 50% new oak and the rest in one-year-old barrels—but only 500-liter and foudres. Deep purple-black in color, it slips seductively out of the glass with notions of warm plums, blueberry preserves and mulberries with touches of spice box, tilled soil, black olives and licorice plus a waft of lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with muscular black fruit and licorice sparks, framed by rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a peppery kick.

91-94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni beschreibt den Wein im Mai 2019 wie folgt:

The 2018 Quinault L Enclos is impressive. Creamy and ample, the 2018 stands out for its textural breadth. There is a level of intensity in the 2018 that previous vintages have not achieved, with a balance of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that is striking for such a young wine. All of the work the Cheval Blanc team has done here over the last ten years have begun to pay off big time. Half of the property was replanted between 2008 and 2012 with more Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc from Cheval and Merlot on later-ripening rootstock. In the glass, the 2018 Quinault offers a striking interplay of floral and savory aromatic and layered fruit, with ripe, silky tannins that caress a core of plush, plaint fruit and a gorgeous, saline-infused finish. There is a level of precision in the 2018 that is positively breathtaking.

CB Weinhandel Beschreibung Quinault l Enclos 2018 Saint Emilion:
Cuvee: 71.5 Merlot / 14.5 Cabernet Franc / 14 Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wine is aging in 50% new and 50% second year oak barrels and the estimated aging regimen will run 18 months. With 14% alcohol and a deep purple-black color, it sings of crushed blueberries, warm plums and chocolate-covered cherries with a cedar-kissed undercurrent and loads of exotic spice sparks—cassis, fenugreek and star anise—plus a waft of forest floor. Full-bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, it has a wonderful line of freshness, with finely grained tannins and a long, mineral-tinged finish.

The 2018 Dalem (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) is deep garnet-purple in color and a little broody to begin, giving way to a core of baked blueberries, kirsch, redcurrant jelly and blackberry pie plus wafts of bay leaves and truffles. Full-bodied with bags of generous black fruit sparked by red fruit accents and a firm, velvety texture, it has a lovely refreshing lift on the finish.

89-91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Dalem 2018 Fronsac SubskriptionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Dalem 2018 Fronsac Subskription wie folgt:

The 2018 Dalem is a powerful wine. Succulent dark cherry, chocolate, espresso, menthol and spice add layers of dimension. In 2018, Dalem is a little less opulent and extracted than it can be, and yet it offers terrific persistence and tons of personality. More than anything else, the 2018 has terrific freshness to play off its dense, rich fruit. Tasted three times

The 2018 Leoville-Barton is fabulous. Graphite, gravel, crème de cassis, mint, violet, spice and exotic spices are some of the many notes that infuse this stunningly beautiful unctuous Saint-Julien. Warm and fleshy in feel, with steeped plum and boysenberry flavors. Light ganache and licorice notes underscore the finish. Slightly brooding in feel today, but retains a healthy core of fruit.

92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Clos du Marquis 2018 Saint JulienLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Clos du Marquis 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

The 2018 Clos du Marquis is composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, with 13% press wine added back to the blend. Grapes were harvested September 18 to October 10, with yields of 35.5 hectoliters per hectare, and the wine has 14.5% alcohol. It will be aged in barriques, 55% new. The finished blend was put into barrels last December. The 2018 Clos du Marquis is a powerful, heady Saint-Julien. Smoke, cedar, tobacco, menthol, licorice, iron, scorched earth and gravel all run through this potent, virile Saint-Julien. In 2018, Clos du Marquis is especially tannic. There is so much to like about Clos de Marquis in 2018, but it will need time in bottle. Best of all, it should be a solid value. Really expressive, with a gorgeous beam of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry fruit driving through, inlaid with graphite and anise notes. The very polished feel lets the fruit glisten on the finish.

91-93+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Labegorce 2018 MargauxLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

Beginning with the 2009 vintage, Labégorce Zédé has been folded into Labégorce, both of which are owned by the Perrodo family (as is the recently acquired Marquis d'Alesme). The 53-hectare vineyard has thus grown to 65 hectares and remains situated on the plateau just north of the town of Margaux, across the road from Lascombes. Density now approaches 10,000 vines per hectare with an average age in 2018 of 29 years. Aging is in 40% new and 60% one-year-old barrels. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot and it has 14% alcohol. Deep purple-black colored, the 2018 Labégorce is a little subdued by cedar to begin, giving way to a core of plum preserves, Black Forest cake and Indian spices with wafts of garrigue and lavender. Full, concentrated and laden with black fruit preserves, it has an approachable frame of firm, rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a peppery note.

90-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Labegorce 2018 MargauxAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

The 2018 Labégorce is plump, juicy and forward, with terrific fruit intensity and richness. Suave and silky, with notable persistence, Labégorce has so much to offer. Labégorce is not that complex - at least not today - but it is undeniably delicious and will deliver tons of pleasure upon release. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Tasted two times.

91-93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Siran 2018 MargauxLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Siran 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Siran opens with quietly spoken notions of baked blackberries, blackcurrant cordial and bay leaves with hints of scorched earth, tar and tobacco. The full-bodied palate is restrained and elegantly played with subtle earth layers among the black fruit and a solid foundation of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing with earth and mineral nuances.

The 2018 Siran offers an explosion of red cherry/plum fruit, wild flowers, mint and spice. There is a sense of exuberance and energy to the 2018 that is impossible to miss. The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Meyney gives up blackcurrants, black berries and plums on the nose with earth and spices plus fried herbs and lots of oak. The big, full-bodied palate has some promising fruit but is a bit hard and oaky.

Full-bodied, rich and packed with juicy fruit, it has a firm line of grainy tannins and loads of freshness, finishing with an herbal lift.

90-92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Capbern 2018 Saint EstepheAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Capbern 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

The 2018 Capbern is expressive, nuanced and inviting, with lovely upfront fruit. In 2018, Capbern is a bit compact and tightly wound, but it also has a good deal of persistence. The Cabernet is quite marked in the 2018, which is not a bad thing, it just means the wine is going to need time to be at its best. What really stands out, though, is the push and pull between the bright aromatics that this cool, clay-rich soil helped give in 2018, and the ripe, radiant fruit of the warm summer. That interplay makes for an absolutely compelling wine. Red cherry fruit, mint, dried flowers, cedar and tobacco add aromatic nuance to this highly expressive, vibrant Saint-Estèphe. The blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Tasted two times.

CB Weinhandel bewertet den Chateau Capbern 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:

The 2018 Pape Clement is dense, powerful, and brooding. In most vintages, Pape Clement is much more showy and inviting, but the 2018 is in no mood to show all of its cards. Instead, we find a Pape Clement that explodes with vertical intensity and lift. Captivating scents of gravel, smoke, leather, tobacco, chocolate and incense add layers of complexity. I can't wait to see how the 2018 ages. Today, it is super expressive. The blend is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. New oak is 45%. Tasted four times.

98-99 Punkte bei James Suckling Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc Pessac LeognanJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc Pessac Leognan wie folgt:
This is a cylinder of dense fruit and phenolic intensity, yet it remains agile and vivid with cooked-apple, honey and cream character, compounding the fantastic texture and structure. A great white with the same gravitas as a red.

94-96+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc Pessac LeognanLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc Pessac Leognan wie folgt:

The Pape Clement 2018 Blanc slips languidly from the glass with tropical notes of warm pineapples, fresh mango and green guava plus hints of nutmeg, orange blossoms, lanolin and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, rich and seductive, it is absolutely laden with tropical fruit and spice layers, with a racy line to support and long, opulent finish. The blend is 57% Sauvignon Blanc, 39% Semillon and 4% Muscadelle. Anticipated aging regimen is 14 months in 55% new and 45% second-fill French oak barrels.

90-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc Pessac LeognanAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Pape Clement 2018 Blanc Pessac Leognan wie folgt:

The 2018 Pape Clement Blanc is laced with white flowers, mint, passion fruit, apricot and chamomile. Here, too, the more restrained style that is typical at the estate these days is very much in evidence. The blend is 57% Sauvignon Blanc, 39% Semillon and 4% Muscadelle, all fermented in oak, including larger 500-liter and 10HL foudres. Larger format oak adds an element of tension and brightness that is super intriguing.

This is very perfumed with a firm and solid, stony tannin structure. Lovely, linear line through this. Full and tight at the same time.

Lively, featuring raspberry and red currant notes stretching out, with light floral and singed apple wood accents.

89-91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Saintayme 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Saintayme 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru wie folgt:

Produced by Denis Durantou of Château L’Eglise Clinet, the 2018 Saintayme is made of 100% Merlot with 30% new oak and 14.5% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with plum preserves, crushed blackberries and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of lavender, unsmoked cigar and fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals beautiful freshness and elegance with soft tannins and loads of mineral sparks on the finish.

89-92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Saintayme 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Saintayme 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru wie folgt:

Denis Durantou's 2018 Saintayme is especially fine in 2018. Bright, floral and energetic, Saintayme really shines. In fact, I can't remember a recent vintage with this much finesse. The tannins need time to soften, but there is plenty of radiant fruit waiting to emerge. I won't be surprised if the finished wine is even better than this note suggests. Tasted two times.

The 2018 Haut-Brisson comes from Vignonet and Monbousquet in Saint-etienne-de-Lisse, from the lieu-dit Laroque. It is blended of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and has 14.6% alcohol. It is aging in 35% new, 35% one-year-old and 30% two-year-old barrels for an anticipated 18 months. It has a deep garnet-purple color and comes charging out of the glass with baked black cherries, warm blueberries and preserved plums with touches of pencil shavings, kirsch and chargrilled meat plus a waft of Indian spices. Full-bodied, the generously fruited palate has a lovely plush texture and just enough freshness, finishing with a menthol lift.

90-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Haut Brisson 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Haut Brisson 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru wie folgt:

The 2018 Haut Brisson is an absolutely gorgeous wine. Radiant and plush, with striking fruit density, the 2018 captures all the best the vintage has to offer. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, dried flowers and menthol build in a creamy, sensual Saint-emilion loaded with near and medium-term appeal. Haut Brisson is especially fine in 2018. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with new oak at 35%. Tasted three times.
