Chateau Labegorce Margaux
Chateau Labegorce Margaux

Dried-mushroom and dark-fruit character. Some flowers, too. Full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Big and chewy. Yet finishes beautifully. Fantastic. Better in 2022.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Labegorce 2016Neal Martin im Januar 2019:

The 2016 Labégorce comes from a property that has really been getting its act together in recent years. It has a gorgeous, very pure blackberry, raspberry and pressed violet bouquet, almost understated, but there is real focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin and quite Pauillac-like in style, and there is impressive density on the finish. Wonderful. Look out for this

The 2017 Labégorce is powerful yet nuanced, and wonderfully complete. Cedar, tobacco, mint, dried herbs and licorice grace this wine of tremendous complexity. While it is towering in its size, richness and intensity, the 2017 is also surprisingly elegant. Creamy, ample and flavorful, this is a very good wine with rather pretty floral notes that grace the exquisite finish.

90+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2017 Margaux im März 2020:

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Labégorce has quite an oaky nose to begin, giving way to scents of warm plums, pencil shavings and blackcurrant pastilles plus a waft of black olives. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a lot of muscular fruit, framed by firm, chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing a little hard.

Really expressive, with a gorgeous beam of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry fruit driving through, inlaid with graphite and anise notes. The very polished feel lets the fruit glisten on the finish.

91-93+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Labegorce 2018 MargauxLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

Beginning with the 2009 vintage, Labégorce Zédé has been folded into Labégorce, both of which are owned by the Perrodo family (as is the recently acquired Marquis d'Alesme). The 53-hectare vineyard has thus grown to 65 hectares and remains situated on the plateau just north of the town of Margaux, across the road from Lascombes. Density now approaches 10,000 vines per hectare with an average age in 2018 of 29 years. Aging is in 40% new and 60% one-year-old barrels. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot and it has 14% alcohol. Deep purple-black colored, the 2018 Labégorce is a little subdued by cedar to begin, giving way to a core of plum preserves, Black Forest cake and Indian spices with wafts of garrigue and lavender. Full, concentrated and laden with black fruit preserves, it has an approachable frame of firm, rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a peppery note.

90-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Labegorce 2018 MargauxAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

The 2018 Labégorce is plump, juicy and forward, with terrific fruit intensity and richness. Suave and silky, with notable persistence, Labégorce has so much to offer. Labégorce is not that complex - at least not today - but it is undeniably delicious and will deliver tons of pleasure upon release. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Tasted two times.

The 2019 Labégorce, picked from 19 September to 12 October and matured in 40% new oak, has one of the more flamboyant Margaux bouquets with expressive black cherries, bilberry, light cedar notes and crushed violet. It develops impressive cohesion with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and what you first notice is the finesse of the tannins. This has a satin-like texture and very well judged acidity. The new oak does poke out a little on the finish - if that can be assimilated during its barrel maturation, this could turn into a very serious Margaux.

91-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux Antonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux im Juni 2020:

The 2019 Labégorce is rich, ample and expressive. Dark cherry, tobacco, menthol, new oak, licorice, chocolate and new leather all flesh out as this succulent Margaux shows off its soft curves and overall allure. This is a pretty flashy style, but it works well. This Merlot-rich Margaux Cru Bourgeois hits all the right notes. There is a lot of wine here.

89-91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux Lisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux im Juni 2020:

The 2019 Labégorce is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot, harvested from the 19th of September to the 12th of October. It has an alcohol of 14% and is being aged in French oak barrels, 40% new. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose offers fragrant scents of damp soil, cedar chest, dried lavender and incense over a core of stewed plums, blackcurrant pastilles and chargrill with a waft of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is pretty much open for business with bags of juicy black fruit and an approachable chewiness to the texture, finishing savory.
