The 2016 Haut-Bailly is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. The nose opens with beautiful floral notes of violets and lavender accented with earthy notions and sparks of crushed rocks over a core of kirsch. cassis and wild blueberries. Full-bodied. rich and seductive. it has layer upon layer of red. black and blue fruits intermingled with earth and mineral hints leading to a very long. perfumed finish.

97+ Punkte vinous / Galloni für den Chateau Haut Bailly 2016 Pessac LeognanAntonio Galloni bewertet den Haut Bailly 2016 im Januar 2019 wie folgt:
A big. vertical wine. the 2016 Haut-Bailly explodes onto the palate with tremendous depth and intensity. Readers should be in no rush to drink the 2016. as it won't be close to ready to drink for at least a decade. and I say that as an eternal optimist. Black cherry. smoke. tobacco. cedar. gravel and incense add to the wine's decidedly somber personality.

98 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Haut Bailly 2016 Pessac LeognanJames Suckling im Februar 2019:
Wonderful aromas of tobacco. sweet fruit and licorice follow through to a full body with ultra-fine tannins that caress every inch of your palate. Love the length and subtlety to this young wine. Gorgeous. Drink after 2024.

97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Haut Bailly 2016 Pessac LeognanNeal Martin im Januar 2019:
The 2016 Haut-Bailly was mightily impressive when tasted from barrel. Now. matured in 50% new oak and bottled at the end of April 2018 (they prefer to bottle before spring here). it has a very well defined bouquet of black fruit. graphite. crushed stone and light rose petal aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with quite grippy tannin. This Haut-Bailly feels pure and classic in style. offering well-judged acidity and a sophisticated. quite tensile finish that lingers long in the mouth. I suspect this might close down in a year or two and deserves perhaps 8 to 10 years in bottle to show what it can really do. The best Haut-Bailly in the modern era? For certain.

Pine, currant and crushed-stone aromas with some walnuts, berries and orange peel. Full-bodied with round, fine tannins and excellent length. Compact and very fine. Lovely length. Seamless. 60% merlot and 40% cabernet sauvignon. Try from 2025.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Haut Bailly II 2019 Pessac LeognanAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Haut Bailly II 2019 Pessac Leognan:

The 2019 Haut-Bailly II is much more elegant and nuanced than it was from barrel, always a great thing to see. Silky tannins wrap around a core of bright red berry, spice, tobacco, cedar and mint in this gracious, mid-weight second wine from the estate. The 2019 will surely improve in bottle, but it is pretty enticing today.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Haut Bailly II 2019 Pessac LeognanUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Haut Bailly II 2019 Pessac Leognan:

The 2019 Haut-Bailly II, the second wine of Haut-Bailly, has accentuated the sous-bois elements on the nose since bottling, now feeling quintessentially Pessac-Léognan and quite marine-influenced in style. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and fresh, still a little piquant on the finish but with more precision than I recall. This is very impressive. Excellent.

13 Jan, 2022 – Aromas of grilled pineapple, clove, lemon peel, lime pith and green mango. White pepper, crushed stones and some cedar, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity. Layered and very long. Serious white. Needs time to open and show more Exceptional form here. Drink from 2023.

The 2019 Malartic-Lagravière Blanc is a super distinctive white that deftly balances fruit richness with energy, all in the weightless, transparent style that is such a signature here. Orchard fruit, flowers, mint and white pepper pulse with notable energy. The 2019 Blanc is absolutely gorgeous and well worth seeking out. I loved it.

92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Malartic Lagraviere blanc 2019 Pessac LeognanUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Malartic Lagraviere blanc 2019 Pessac Leognan:
The 2019 Malartic Lagravière Blanc has a taut, fresh nose of Granny Smith apples, kiwi fruit and touches of white peach that emerge with aeration. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, displaying good weight and delineation and a nice sour lemon note underlying the concentration. The almost clinical finish conveys superb tension. This will drink very well for the next 15–20 years.

C des Carmes Haut Brion 2016 Pessac Leognan
93
90-92 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Le C des Carmes Haut Brion 2016 Pessac LeognanNeil Martin im April 2017:
The 2016 Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion comes from vines located in the clos over towards Martillac, rather than the vines in the original Les Carmes Haut-Brion vineyard in the Bordeaux suburbs, known as "Le Clos des Carmes Haut-Brion" up until the 2013 vintage. It is a blend of 51% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvigon and 1% Petit Verdot, matured in 30% new oak and the remainder one year old barrels. This includes 25% whole berry fruit. It offers plenty of brambly black fruit on the nose, crushed violets, fresh fig and a touch of spice that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, neatly integrated oak, a little plushness on the entry thanks to the Merlot, and then it dovetails into a more structured, gently grippy, chalk-textured finish with attractive black fruit. Give this two or three years in bottle just to shave off a little abrasiveness and you will have a fine Pessac-Léognan.

93 Sucklingpunkte für den Le C des Carmes Haut Brion 2016 Pessac LeognanVerkostungsbericht vom 08. April 2019:
A succulent and savory young wine with fine and polished tannins that start well and finish very long. Medium body with chocolate. hazelnut. plum and wet-leaf flavors. Lasts a long time on the finish. Delicious now. but better after 2021.

Chateau Pape Clement rouge 2015 mit 99 Punkten bei James SucklingJames Suckling beschreibt den Chateau Pape Clement 2015 wie folgt:

The clarity to this wine is impressive. Wealth of dark-plum and black-fruit essence not to mention orange citrus. Everything is dialed up to the limit here but then dialed in on the palate. Such impressive depth and suave, ripe, fluid tannins that deliver impressive length. Great wine. Such polish. Superb. Try from 2022.

20 Punkte vom Weinwisser für den Chateau Pape Clement 2015Rene Gabriel beschreibt den Chateau Pape Clement 2015 wie folgt:

50 % Cabernet Sauvignon. 47 % Merlot. 2 % Petit Verdot. 1 % Cabernet Franc.

One of the stars of the vintage, the 2015 Pape Clément is fabulous. Dark and beautifully resonant, it captures all the natural radiance of the year in the Pape Clément style. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, mocha, chocolate, new leather and spice effortlessly fill out the wine's ample frame. Soft contours and an open-knit, inviting personality are just two of the reasons the Pape Clément is going to be virtually impossible to resist, even in the early going. The 2018 Pape Clement is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged for approximately 18 months in oak barriques, 60% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls out of the glass with vibrant notes of crushed black cherries, stewed black plums and black raspberries, followed by suggestions of violets, star anise, cardamom and camphor with a waft of iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers exhilarating energy, offering crunchy black berry and exotic spice layers with a solid frame of ripe, grainy tannins and loads of freshness, finishing long and mineral tinged. Still very primary, it will need a good 5 years in bottle to deliver that next-level experience and will drink over the next 30+ years.

99 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Jeb Dunnuck bewertet den Chateau Pape Clement 2018 rouge Pessac Leognan wie folgt:

Coming from 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc brought up in 60% new French oak, the 2018 Château Pape Clement from Bernard Magrez is a gorgeous wine that's performing even better from bottle than barrel, which is always a good sign. Deep ruby/purple, with stunning crème de cassis and blackberry fruits as well as kaleidoscope-like notes of graphite, scorched earth, smoke, violets, and spring flowers, it offers full-bodied richness yet stays light on its feet, graceful, and almost ethereal on the palate, with integrated acidity and building yet seamless tannins. The Cabernet Sauvignon really sings at this point, and there's almost a Médoc-like regalness here. Reminding me of a slightly more elegant 2005 (it also has similarities to the 2016), it will benefit from 4-6 years in the cellar and keep for 30+ years.

The 2016 Pape Clément is fabulous. Racy and sumptuous in the glass. the 2016 captures the style that now characterizes Bernard Magrez's wines from his estate in Pessac. Specifically. the 2016 is wonderfully deep in the glass. and yet retains terrific freshness as well. A rush of dark cherry. plum. smoke. scorched earth. grilled herb. leather and menthol builds as the 2016 shows off its compelling. inviting personality. I would prefer to give the 2016 at least a few years in bottle to allow its full breadth of aromatics to develop. Even so. there is so much to like. Pliant. supple and super-expressive.
