Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, opaker Kern, zarte Randaufhellung. Nuancen von Velours, etwas Nugat, schwarze Kirschen, kandierte Veilchen, noch etwas verhalten, mineralischer Touch. Saftig, elegant, frische Kirschen, lebendig strukturiert, feine Fruchtsüße, seidige Tannine, mineralisch und gut anhaftend, rotbeerige Nuancen im Abgang, zeigt Länge und Potenzial, ein facettenreicher Speisenbegleiter.

The 2020 Durfort Vivens has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark cherries and berries mingled with hints of licorice, baking chocolate and mint. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, it's layered and concentrated, with lively acids and broad structural shoulders, its generous endowment of powdery tannin asserting itself on the youthfully firm finish. More tightly wound than the extroverted, charming 2019, the 2020 will demand patience, but it's a very strong performance for this estate.

Eine sehr pure Cassisfrucht, floral begleitet. Holunder, Minze, etwas Karamell. Komplex, immer neue Serien startend. Im Mund mit einer eleganten, nicht im Über- maß ausgereizten Cremigkeit, dann mit einem feinen, aber auch festen Tannin in stattlicher Menge, sehr viel Mineralität im Hintergrund. Der Gerbstoff hat keinerlei Grüntöne und löst die Extraktspannung nach ihrem Wirkungspeak saftig auf. Der Abgang ist kompakt und pointiert, bleibt bei aller aromatischen Verschlossenheit lange homogen. Äußerst beeindruckend, und für die Langstrecke.

A serious, structured vintage, the 2020 Ferrière unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, berries and plums mingled with raw cocoa and violets. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with excellent concentration and plenty of powdery tannin that asserts itself on the youthfully firm finish. This blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, derived from a very high proportion of old vines, is a real success, but it will require patience.

Pulling from 51.04 hectares of vines and a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, it's a selection of just 45% of the total production and spent 18 months in 50% new and 50% once-used French oak. Beautiful, spiced-laced red and black fruits, chocolate, smoked tobacco, and incense notes define the aromatics. These carry to a medium to full-bodied restrained, elegant 2020 with terrific mid-palate density, ripe, velvety tannins, and terrific overall balance. This is one of those beautiful, classic wines that grows on you with time in the glass, and hats off to Emmanuel Cruse for yet another incredible wine. It's going to evolve for another 25-30 years if well-stored.

A wine of immense character and refinement, it's the best vintage from this estate in recent times.

Revealing a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a great bouquet of blackcurrants, black cherries, lead pencil, sandalwood, smoked tobacco, and hints of incense, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It offers pleasure today (although it closes down with extended air) but deserves 5-7 years of bottle age and will evolve for 30 years or more. This is clearly in the same league as the 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. Tasted on multiple occasions with consistent results.

Jeder redet zwar über das Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion, aber ein weiterer Teil der unglaublichen Erfolgsgeschichte die hier im Zusammenhang steht, haben noch zu wenige auf dem Radar! Er wird nicht en Primeur vermarktet und tritt demzufolge erst später in Erscheinung, dennoch wird er immer zu den Primeursproben gezeigt. Denn was man hier für deutlich unter 40€ bekommt ist immer eine wahre Freude für die Geschmackspapillen. Genuss wird bei diesem feinen und so balancierten Pessac Leognan gross geschrieben. Die Cuvee besteht aus zwei drittel Cabernet und 1 drittel Merlot, mit Varianzen in den Jahrgängen. Der Ausbau erfolgt über 20% in neuen Fässern und die 80% in gebrauchten Fässern. Und wenn ich Ihnen jetzt noch verrate, dass sich das selbe Team um diesen Wein kümmert wie es das auch bei Chateau Carmes Haut Brion tut, sollten Sie mir versprechen, nicht zu viel die Werbetrommel für diesen Geheimtipp zu schlagen, denn sonst kann es das bald gewesen sein mit diesem Bargain Tipp aus Pessac. VERKOSTUNG am 20.06.2024 Frisch geöffnet springt einem die saftige Schattenmorelle aus dem Glas, gemischt mit floralen zart würzigen Anklängen, etwas feinwürzig grünes ist im Spiel, aber überhaupt nicht negativ behaftet, vielmehr vitalisierend zu verstehen. Im Mund saftig und frisch, man nimmt Fülle und Spannkraft am Gaumen wahr aber das ist so super trinkig, dass schon schnell eine halbe Flasche geleert ist, bis der Wein dann anfängt eine dunklere Frucht zu zeigen, die Kirsche wandelt sich etwas in dunkle Waldbeeren und rote Paprika. Was er sich beibehält ist diese unglaubliche Trinkbarkeit. Der Wein wirkt zwar kräftiger im Mund als es seine 13 Vol.% Alkohol vermuten liessen, doch er ist so unglaublich lebhaft und vital. WOW ein Spasswein der auch anspruchsvolle Geniesser auf ganzer Linie beglücken wird. Den C des Carmes müssen Sie unbedingt probieren!

This is pure, classic, regal Pessac-Léognan is as good as anything in the vintage. Give bottles 4-6 years and it will evolve for 50, 60, 70+ years. I absolutely love this wine. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc.

Deep and resonant. but also remarkably polished. the 2016 Malescot is a winner. The 2019 Giscours has certainly calmed down since its bravura performance from barrel, now more streamlined and focused, albeit retaining that black and blue fruit interlaced with pressed violet. The harmonious palate is very finely tuned and beautifully structured, with a touch of salinity. This is one of the more precise Giscours in recent years, perhaps partly due to consultant Thomas Duclos, who began working with the estate in 2018 (he was actually born nearby). This reminds me of some of the classic Giscours such as the 1966 or the 1970. It may even merit a higher score with bottle age.

The 2019 Giscours has turned out very well in bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, burning embers, lilac and violets framed by a discreet patina of new oak. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's polished and perfumed, with a velvety, seamless profile and bright animating acids, concluding with a long, resonant finish. Alexandre Van Beek and his team are taking this estate to heights it hasn't hit since the 1970s, and this is another of the great bargains of the 2019 en primeur campaign.
