This throws off a lovely stream of violet and cassis aromas and flavors that are sleek and pure in feel, picking up dark cherry, iron and sanguine details along the way. Refined and cellarworthy. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenère.

The 2018 Clerc Milon is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Carménère. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it has a very pure, beautifully delineated nose of crushed blackcurrants, fresh black plums and boysenberries with hints of wild thyme, damp soil, tar and black olives. The medium to full-bodied palate offers taut, muscular black fruit with loads of savory layers and a firm, grainy texture, finishing long and mineral tinged.

The 2018 Clerc Milon is showing beautifully today. Gorgeous savory notes from the Cabernet Sauvignon open first, showing the modern direction of Clerc Milon towards a more Cabernet focused wine. Dried flowers, menthol, licorice, graphite and black cherry are all laced together effortlessly. The tannins have settled down a bit since en primeur, which is a very good sign for the future.

(als Fassmuster noch 88-90 massiv aufgewertet)

Just as it was from barrel, the 2018 Duhart-Milon is a real powerhouse. Black cherry, gravel, spice, espresso and savory herbs infuse the 2018 with notable depth and power. A brooding, virile wine, the Duhart-Milon packs a serious punch. I would give it a few years to soften. The 2018 has really come together since en primeur. In fact, the bottled wine bears little semblance to the en primeur sample, which is a very good thing. There is real density and weight here, with all of the natural richness of the year.

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Duhart Milon 2018 PauillacJames Suckling im Januar 2021:

Sweet berries and cherries on the nose with sweet tobacco, lead pencil and blackcurrants. It’s full-bodied and very rich with layers of fruit and creamy tannins intertwined. Extremely long and creamy. Great Duhart. Try after 2026.

The 2018 Duhart-Milon is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. With 14% alcohol, it has a deep garnet-purple color and a seductively ripe, opulent nose of plum preserves, blackberry pie and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of spice cake, potpourri, sandalwood and eucalyptus oil. Medium-bodied, it is jam-packed with rich, spicy black fruit preserves, with floral accents and a velvety texture, finishing long and fragrant. So. Good.

The 2018 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot with a pH of 3.85, an IPT (total polyphenol index) of 87 and 14% alcohol. The grand vin represents 50% of the crop this year. Deep garnet-purple colored, it charges out of the gate with bold scents of baked plums, ripe blackcurrants and wild blueberries, followed by hints of cedar chest, pencil lead, bouquet garni and charcuterie, plus a waft of lilacs. The medium-bodied palate is beautifully crafted with its seamless freshness and firm, grainy tannins supporting the compelling, finely knit black fruits and savory nuances, finishing on a lingering fragrant-earth note. This will need a good 5 years to come around and should easily cellar for another 30 years or more.

The 2018 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande dazzles from the very first taste. A heady concoction of inky dark fruit, graphite, new leather, licorice, lavender, spice and grilled herbs soars out of the glass. The 2018 is rich and expansive yet retains a super-classic vertical feel. Plush, silky tannins add to its immeasurable pedigree. I would cellar the 2018 for a decade or so, if patience permits. It's a stellar wine in the making.

98 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Peter Michael 2018Jeb Dunnuck im November 2020:

The 2018 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse De Lalande is a monster of a wine with an almost Château Latour-like stature and structure, offering deep, backward, slightly reductive notes of blackcurrants, crushed stone, scorched earth, lead pencil shavings, and tobacco leaf. Based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon mixed with 23% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot, it's full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful on the palate, with masses of tannins, beautiful mid-palate density, and a great finish. As I've commented previously, the up-front, sexy style of the past (due to the larger Merlot content, I believe) has been replaced by a more regal, at times austere profile. Nevertheless, it's still its own wine and very Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in style. This 2018 is going to need 5-7 years of bottle age and will evolve for 40+ years.

A complex nose of blueberries, elderberries, dried fruit, spice and dark chocolate. It’s full-bodied with a harmonious, balanced texture. The tannins are still firm and powerful, but there’s balance and finesse to the whole thing. Tight and reserved, yet long and energetic. The tannins open slowly. Dusty texture. From biodynamically grown grapes. Try after 2024.

98 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Pontet Canet 2018 Pauillac wie folgt:

The 2018 Pontet-Canet is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It was aged in 55% oak barriques and 45% amphorae. Deep garnet-purple colored, it explodes from the glass with an atomic perfume of raspberry pie, blackcurrant pastilles, rose oil and Chinese five spice, giving way to suggestions of cinnamon stick, dusty soil, pencil lead and underbrush. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is a hedonist's dream, delivering layer-upon-layer of black and red berry preserves with loads of fragrant accents, a beautifully firm yet plush texture and tons of freshness, finishing long with a whole firework display of exotic spices. This is pretty much out-of-the-gate delicious, but it has the backbone to evolve over three decades or more.

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Pontet Canet 2018 PauillacAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Pontet Canet 2018 Pauillac wie folgt:

When I tasted the 2018 Pontet-Canet in barrel I described it as a "freak of nature." The 2018 is more than that, it is a freak of nature. Made from yields of just ten hectoliters per hectare, the 2018 possesses off the charts richness, phenomenal balance and head-spinning intensity. Crushed red berries, flowers, mint, cedar and rose petal saturate the palate in a Pauillac of breath-taking richness. The silkiest of tannins frame the phenomenally pure, long finish. This is a towering achievement from the Tesseron family and former Technical Director Jean-Michel Comme, who together spearheaded biodynamic farming in Bordeaux and built the present-day estate around a philosophy of non-interventionalist winemaking. In 2018, grapes were crushed solely by hand. Because of the tiny yields, the entire production was vinified in Pontet-Canet's new smaller concrete vats. All winemaking was done manually, without the aid of external temperature control or electricity. Put in another way, if Lalou Bize-Leroy made Bordeaux, it would taste like this.

99 Punkte vom Falstaff fürPeter Moser im Januar 2022:

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. (2030 - 2070)

97+ Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Jeb Dunnuck im November 2021:

An unevolved, almost primordial 2018, the 2018 Château Pontet Canet sports a dense purple hue as well as loads of blue and black fruits, damp earth, tobacco, candied violets, and graphite-laced aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, serious mid-palate depth, and building tannins, it's mostly potential at this point, but it's a beautiful wine in the making. A decade of bottle age is going to be required, though, so it's not for those seeking instant gratification.

100 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2018 PauillacLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2018 Pauillac wie folgt:

The 2018 Lafite Rothschild is blended of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.5% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot and has 13.3% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color, it needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock intoxicating scents of blackcurrant cordial, baked plums and black cherry compote with an undercurrent of dark chocolate, licorice, cast-iron pan, cedar chest and fertile loam, plus a waft of pencil lead. The delicately crafted, medium-bodied palate is dripping with class, featuring layers of mineral-laced black fruits and exquisitely ripe, singularly Lafite tannins, finishing with epic length and depth. This simply stunning, delicately crafted expression of 2018 with its singularly evocative imprint of Lafite will require a good 7-8 years in bottle, then should continue to inspire awe over the following 40+ years.

99 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2018 PauillacJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2018 Pauillac wie folgt:

Wow. The aromas are so intense and refined at the same time, offering gorgeous blackcurrant, lead-pencil and orchid character. Such purity of fruit. Sleek and finely polished with a fine cut to the tannins that provide such grace and glamor. Yet, it’s got the power and structure to age for decades. On and on. Try after 2029.

The 2018 Lafite-Rothschild is a stunning wine. Silky and floral, the 2018 offers all the signatures of the Grand Vin, but amplified by the radiance of the year. In the glass, Lafite is rich and exotic, yet it also retains tremendous vibrancy. The interplay of Merlot picked early and Cabernet Sauvignon harvested late makes for wine of extraordinary dimension, complexity and class. Graphite, dark red fruit, spice and leather linger on the huge finish. Magnificent!

The 2019 Alter Ego is a huge, dense wine. Ripe, exotic and packed to the core, Alter Ego makes a convincing first impression. Time in the glass brings out floral accents and redder tonalities of fruit. Partial aging in foudres has introduced and element of rigor and tension here that is so alluring in the way it complements the natural richness these wines always show.

The 2019 Alter Ego de Palmer has a classically styled bouquet featuring a mélange of red and black fruit, briar, hints of cedar, and a touch of black tea, all showing lovely delineation. The palate is fresh and vibrant, displaying a touch of sour cherry on the granular-textured opening. There is something very "old school" about this Alter Ego in contrast to the 2018. Very saline toward the finish, with good persistence.

The 2019 La Dame de Montrose, which I tasted in June and September 2021, has a fresh mulberry, black plum and granite-scented bouquet that is quite precocious; touches of morel appear in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, quite structured and almost Pauillac-like, thanks to veins of graphite toward the finish provided by the 48% Cabernet Sauvignon. All of the intensity of the year comes through nicely and yet the personality of Armailhac is evident also. I would cellar the 2018 for at least a few years, to allow some of the baby fat to melt away. There is a bit more breadth and richness that is the result of yields that were just 32 hectoliters per hectare as opposed to the more typical 42 or so. It was a vintage marked by heat stress, small berries and lower juice to skin ratio, as well as some parcels affected by mildew.

"This rich wine is built by generous tannins and dense black-plum fruits. A hint of dark chocolate offers depth and an edge of extraction that does not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness. Drink from 2023." Editors Choice. Roger VOSS

Platz 16 in der TOP 100 Liste für das Jahr 2019

91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cambon La Pelouse 2016 Haut MedocAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse is a wine of real depth. power and flavor. Super-ripe dark cherry. plum. leather. tobacco. cedar and earthy notes are all laced together in this punchy. expressive Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois. Once again. Cambon Le Pelouse over delivers. It should drink well for the next decade-plus. Tasted two times.

92 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Cambon La Pelouse 2016 Haut MedocJames Suckling Januar 2019:

Very classic Haut-Médoc with tons of blackcurrants and blackberries. Yet there’s rather classic balance with elegant. moderately dry tannins and a long. clean finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon. merlot and petit verdot. Drink or hold.

The 2016 Cambon La Pelouse has a classic. nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry. briary. autumn leaves and cedar aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. very harmonious and cohesive with supremely well judged acidity that lends the finish a silky smooth. gently grippy finish that bodes well for the future. Excellent. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

Crognolo 2017 Toscana Rosso Tenuta Sette Ponti

A balanced and fresh red for the hot 2017 vintage with medium body. fine tannins and plenty of currants. blackberries and blueberries on the finish. Drink or hold.

93 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Crognolo 2017 Toscana Rosso Tenuta Sette PontiDer Wine Spectator beschreibt den Crognolo 2017 Toscana Rosso Tenuta Sette Ponti im Dezember 2019 wie folgt:

A beam of pure blackberry runs through this otherwise dense and focused red. Shows elegance. with balance and complexity. but needs time to integrate and reveal all its facets. Offers fine. minerally length. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2021 through 2032. 7.500 cases made. 4.000 cases imported. — BS

Weingut

Chateau L Eglise Clinet 2015

Chateau L´Eglise Clinet 2015 Pomerol mit 99 Punkten bei James SucklingJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau L Eglise Clinet 2015 am 02.02.2018 wie folgt:

The violets. roses and dark fruits are so evident but they entice you in a subtle and fresh way. Full-bodied. dense and tannic. yet everything is so in tune with everything else and there are no hard edges or loose ends. It’s like a whirlpool that draws you down and then shows you its beauty. The harmony and complexity is phenomenal. Try in 2024 but I don’t want to wait.

Chateau L Eglise Clinet 2015 Pomerol mit 99 Punkten bei VinousAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau L Eglise Clinet 2015 im Februar 2018 wie folgt:

The 2015 L'Eglise-Clinet is one of the wines of the vintage. Even better from bottle than it was from barrel. the 2015 towers out of the glass with stunning power and richness. Super-ripe black cherry. plum. licorice. tobacco and menthol are some of the many notes pulse through this riveting Pomerol. There is plenty of structure. but the tannins are nearly buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. Hints of lavender. smoke. spice. licorice reappear to round out the finish. L'Eglise-Clinet is 90% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Franc. aged in 70% new oak. More importantly. the 2015 is a total pleasure bomb. This a fabulous wine from Denis Durantou. Don't miss it.

Big. rich and full-bodied. the palate offers exquisite harmony. packed with exotic spice and red and black fruit layers. finishing on an epically long-lasting mineral note. In an understated word: WOW.
