The 2016 Sérilhan has a wonderful. quite high-toned and generous bouquet with ample blackberry and raspberry scents laced with violet and hints of iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip in the mouth. quite symmetrical and focused with impressive precision on the finish. This feels dialed back in terms of power to the benefit of this elegant Saint-Estèphe. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

99 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den 2018er Chateau Calon Segur aus Saint EstepheVerkostungsnotiz vom 11.03.2021
Easily the greatest example from this château that I've tasted, the 2018 Château Calon Ségur checks in as 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot aged 20 months in new French oak. This dense purple-hued beauty boasts a stunning nose of blackcurrants, crème de cassis, tobacco, baking spices, chocolate, and cedarwood. With full-bodied richness, a layered, multi-dimensional texture, gorgeous tannins, and one seriously long finish, it hits that palate with 15% alcohol, yet you wouldn't know it by tasting it, and the wine is perfectly balanced, has incredible purity of fruit, and stays fresh and lively, with a clean finish. This magical Saint-Estèphe can be drunk any time over the coming 20+ years.

The second wine from Calon Ségur, the 2018 Le Marquis De Calon Segur shows the ripe, sexy side to the vintage and has terrific blackcurrant and red plum-like fruits as well as lots of tobacco and cedary spice aromas and flavors. Close to an even split of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this full-bodied, gorgeously texture, balanced Saint-Estate should be snatched up by readers. 92-94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Le Marquis de Calon Segur 2018 Saint EstepheLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Le Marquis de Calon Segur 2018 Saint Estephe wie folgt:
The 2018 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur is a blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon (14.9% alcohol). It is anticipated to age for 17 months in barriques. 30% new. Deep purple-black in color. it gives up opulent scents of Indian spices. menthol and plum preserves with a core of crème de cassis. baked cherries and raspberry pie plus a hint of sandalwood. Big. rich. full-bodied and voluptuously fruited in the mouth. it has bags of black fruit preserves and exotic spices with a firm. plush frame. finishing long with a minty lift. Definitely one for the hedonists! und vergibt ihm 92-94 Punkte.

“2018 was complicated to vinify because of the potentially high alcohols.” Laurent Dufau. Managing Director of Calon-Ségur and Capbern informed me. “Also. you had to be very gentle with extraction. You had to be soft. so as not to extract too much. The alcohol percentage of the Merlot was concerning—some came in at 16% potential alcohol! And the Cabernet Franc this year was amazing on this terroir.” Merlot was picked from September 19 to 25. The Cabernets came in September 26 to October 5. Petit Verdot came in on October 8th. Yields were pretty good here on average in 2018: 41 hectoliters per hectare. This year marks the final stages/completion of years of vineyard restructuring. new aging cellars and a gravity-fed vat room at Château Calon-Ségur. Most notably. they have been increasing vine density and slowly working on bringing more Cabernet Sauvignon rather than Merlot on line. as was the blend traditionally. No doubt about it. quality at Calon-Ségur has been on an upward trajectory in recent years!

Sweet cherries and berries with some walnuts and dried flowers, as well as notes of crushed stone, pine, currants and violets. Full-bodied and building gradually on the palate, with intense, polished tannins that are layered throughout the wine, providing well-toned muscle. The finish lasts for minutes. Quintessential Calon. Needs time to soften. Try after 2027.

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Calon Segur 2019 Saint EstepheAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Calon Segur 2019 Saint Estephe:
The 2019 Calon Ségur is a wine of soaring vertical intensity and pure power. That's the good news. The not so good news is that it won't be ready to drink any time soon. Exotic spice, pencil shavings, crème de cassis, mocha and licorice are some of the nuances that develop in the glass, but those descriptions can't even begin to capture the sheer beauty of what is in the glass. I loved the 2019 from barrel and I love it just as much from bottle.

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Calon Segur 2019 Saint EstepheUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Calon Segur 2019 Saint Estephe:
The 2019 Calon-Ségur, bottled in July 2021, has an alluring, very floral bouquet, the earlier crushed violet scents seemingly accentuated during the élevage. The palate is pure and poised, the fruit a little darker/blacker than I recall, and quite mineral-driven. There’s lovely acidity and precision here, and a touch of spice toward the harmonious finish. This is a superb wine from Vincent Millet and his team.

Really packed, with dark currant, warmed fig compote and steeped blackberry notes tumbling together, harnessed by a bolt of cast iron. Delivers singed cedar, bay leaf and tobacco accents as well as a late tug of warm earth in the background, ending with a throwback feel. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2040.

Deep purple-black in color, it bursts from the glass with bombastic scents of stewed black plums, crème de cassis and blueberry pie with nuances of violets and licorice, plus a waft of menthol. The 2020 Calon-Ségur is a brilliant wine from an estate in the ascendant. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, red berries, fresh mint, pencil shavings, violets and rose petals, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a vibrant core of fruit, powdery structuring tannins and a long, perfumed finish. Integrated and harmonious, this pure, concentrated and dynamic wine is one of the finest vintages that Vincent Millet and his team have produced to date.

99 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheJeb Dunnuck im März 2023 zum Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe:
The 2020 Château Calon Ségur is pure gold and another masterpiece from this estate. Harvested all in September and pulled from their 48 hectares of vines, the blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that spent 20 months all in new French oak, and it hit 13.2% natural alcohol. My notes started and ended with "wow," and this riveting Saint-Estèphe offers a heavenly bouquet of red and black currants, truffly earth, iron, espresso, and tobacco leaf. With incredible purity of fruit, full-bodied richness, and ultra-fine tannins, it's a deep, pure, layered 2020 that deserves at least 7-8 years of bottle age and will cruise for 40-50 years in cold cellars. Hats off to the team at Calon Ségur

This is among the more backward wines of the vintage, showing a slightly burly mix of chestnut, warm paving stone, bay leaf and burnished leather notes amid a densely packed core of black currant and bitter plum reduction. Really riveted, with a warm cast iron spine and a mouthwatering savory edge driving the finish. Lovely character in this wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Then the great balance of ripeness. lively acidity and velvety tannins come together beautifully at the elegant finish to make this the best wine from this producer in modern times. Needs two or three years to soften. Try in 2022.

A sleeper in this vintage. the 2016 Lafon-Rochet is positively stellar. Bright. translucent and super-expressive. the 2016 has so much to offer. Lavender. tobacco. cedar. mint and dried herbs give the 2016 striking aromatic top notes to play off the darker fruit flavors. The 2016 is pure class. Don't miss it.

für den Tour des Termes 2016Antonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Tour de Termes is very nicely done. Pliant and supple. with lovely aromatic complexity and tons of character. the 2016 is quite expressive today. This mid-weight. airy. gracious Saint-Estèphe should drink well for the next handful of years or so. At times. the 2016 feels a bit narrow. but there is just enough depth to knit things together.

92 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Tour des Termes 2016 Saint EstepheJames Suckling Januar 2019:

The sweet cassis fruit. wrapped around the full tannins. helps this powerful and well-structured St.-Estèphe to come off as only moderately dry. The finish is supple enough to drink now or hold. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot.

für den Tour des Termes 2016Vinous / Neal Martin Oktober 2019:

The 2016 Tour des Termes has a classic blackberry. cedar and briary scented bouquet that demands some encouragement from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. well judged acidity. quite natural and elegant in style with a persistent and disarmingly pure finish. Bravo – this is a great Tour des Termes. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

97 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheWilliam Kelley am 06.04.2023 zum Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe:

Blueberries, blackberries, spearmint, currants and sweet spices on the nose. Mocha and walnuts, too. Lots of flavor here, with a medium to full body and muscular yet velvety tannins that melt seamlessly into the wine. Long, polished and delicious already. Keeps going. Better from 2025.

95 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheJames Molsworth beschreibt Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe im Januar 2023 wie folgt:
This is among the more backward wines of the vintage, showing a slightly burly mix of chestnut, warm paving stone, bay leaf and burnished leather notes amid a densely packed core of black currant and bitter plum reduction. Really riveted, with a warm cast iron spine and a mouthwatering savory edge driving the finish. Lovely character in this wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2040. –JM

A gorgeous second wine. the 2016 La Dame de Montrose is incredibly expressive today. Supple. radiant and inviting. La Dame has all the potential to be an overachiever in this vintage. Today. it is quite open. and. even more importantly. flat-out delicious. In some moments. La Dame is rather nuanced. while at other times it is a bit more potent. It will be interesting to see what aging in bottle brings. but one thing is certain; the 2016 La Dame is a stellar wine. Don't miss it.

Dominus 2014 mit 98 Punkten bei James SucklingJames Suckling beschreibt den Dominus Napa Valley 2014 am 27. Januar 2017:

Fabulous purity and clarity of fruit. Black currants, blackberries and violets. Full body, big soft tannins and a chocolate, hazelnut and dark fruit character. Some hot stones too. Ripe, velvety and fruity finish. Better in 2020 but delicious to drink now. Wonderful Dominus.

Dominus 2014 mit 97 Parker Punkten ausgezeichnetRobert M. Parker Jr. beschreibt den Dominus Napa Valley 2014 im Oktober 2016:

The 2014s. where the production of Napanook was only 2.200 cases and Dominus slightly more than the 2015 at 4.000 cases. was another early harvest. although somewhat later than 2015. The 2014 Dominus. which is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon. 7% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot really struts its stuff. Moueix’s belief in dry farming seems to be paying off with stronger and stronger vintages, each successive year, and the 2014 is a sexy, opulent, layered, multidimensional wine with notes of red and blackcurrant, cedar wood, tobacco leaf, spice box and licorice. The color is a dense plum/ruby/purple, much like the Napanook. This is a beauty that is already drinking gorgeously – as most 2014s are – and will continue to evolve for 25 or so years.

96+ Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Dominus 2014 Dominus Estate Napa ValleyThe 2014 Dominus is endowed with tons of depth, power and muscle. Black cherry, plum, smoke, menthol, licorice, chocolate, dried herbs and dark spices are all pushed forward. Deep, pliant and exquisitely layered, the 2014 possesses tons of concentration and mid-palate depth. Like so many wines in this vintage, the 2014 comes across as a hybrid of 2013 and 2012. I very much like the energy and focus in this wine. This is a fabulous wine in every way. With time in the glass, the flavors gain in brightness and focus. There is certainly much to look forward to.

Single Vineyards Series 2019 - die CB Weinhandel Selektion

"The world has so many vineyards but so few have the X-factor, these are great sites that come to the fore each vintage." Joe Czerwinski unterstreicht dieses Statement in der 2021er August-Ausgabe des Wine Advocate, wenn er schreibt, "my advice is to go the extra mile for them, as they express more site specificity and individual character." Extrameilen müssen Sie bei uns nicht gehen. Wir haben in der CB Weinhandel Selektion die sechs Weine der Single Vineyard Series 2019 zusammengestellt.

Glaetzer Amon Ra 2019 Shiraz Ben Glaetzer Barossa Valley
96+

August 2021:

The 2019 Amon Ra Shiraz is 100% Shiraz and 100% from the 2019 vintage, as Ben Glaetzer felt it—unlike many previous vintages—didn't need to be freshened with a small proportion of younger wine. From old vines in the Ebenezer district of the northern Barossa Valley, it offers classic notes of blackberries and spice, framed by hints of cedar and vanilla (it's aged in 100% new oak hogsheads, mostly French). It's full-bodied yet crisp, supple but tight and really long. Offering lovely dark fruit, hints of espresso and black olive, it finishes mouthwatering and firm. Give it some time in the cellar and drink it from 2025 – 2040.
