Chateau Calon Segur 2016 Saint Estephe mit 97 Punkten bei VinousAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:
The 2016 Calon Ségur is dense and radiant on the palate. just as it was from barrel. Even with all of its intensity. the 2016 is distinguished by its sense of freshness. lift and nuance. much of which comes from the 18% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Sweet floral. spice and minty notes add aromatic intensity to a core of sweet red cherry and plum fruit. There is plenty of underlying structure. but the tannins are sweet. silky and perfectly ripe. In short. the 2016 Calon Ségur is a wine of pure and total sensuality. Technical Director Vincent Millet and his team did a tremendous job with the 2016. Tasted three times.

Superb aromas of crushed berries. violets and sandalwood with hints of cedar and roses. Full body. very fine tannins and savory. delicious fruit. Vibrant acidity combines beautifully with the fruit and structure. Harmonious and attractive. Fine-toned. Try after 202

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Calon Segur 2016 Saint EstepheVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:
The 2016 Calon Ségur was matured entirely in new oak for 20 months and bottled at the end of July 2018. This was one of the most impressive wines from the estate when I tasted it from barrel. Now in bottle. it has a gorgeous bouquet of beautifully defined blackberry. bilberry. dark chocolate and graphite aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. perhaps suppler than Cos d’Estournel and more velvety in terms of texture. A dash of cracked black pepper and allspice appears toward the finish. which fans out gloriously. A brilliant wine from François Millet and his team.

Easily the greatest example from this château that I've tasted, the 2018 Château Calon Ségur checks in as 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Petit Verdot aged 20 months in new French oak. This dense purple-hued beauty boasts a stunning nose of blackcurrants, crème de cassis, tobacco, baking spices, chocolate, and cedarwood. With full-bodied richness, a layered, multi-dimensional texture, gorgeous tannins, and one seriously long finish, it hits that palate with 15% alcohol, yet you wouldn't know it by tasting it, and the wine is perfectly balanced, has incredible purity of fruit, and stays fresh and lively, with a clean finish. This magical Saint-Estèphe can be drunk any time over the coming 20+ years.

The 2019 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is a terrific second wine. Ample, bold and dramatic, the 2019 packs a huge punch. Black cherry, plum, new leather, graphite and incense build as this flamboyant, opulent Saint-Estèphe shows off its considerable allure. The 2019 is a big wine, but the 15.1% alcohol is not especially evident.

The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly lactic entry and fine acidity, maybe not quite as "crunchy" as I recall, yet still satisfyingly persistent.

A brilliant effort that will delight Médoc purists, the 2021 Calon-Ségur wafts from the glass with aromas of rose petals, wild berries, plums, Indian spices, woodsmoke and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's deep and lively, with beautifully ripe tannins and an exquisitely balanced profile. In spirit, this blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot is reminiscent of the 1996 vintage, though the 2021 won't go through such an extended period of hibernation and will attain a much higher peak of quality. It attained 12.9% alcohol without any chaptalization, saignée or osmosis. Tasted twice. 95-96+ Punkte

Offering up notions of blackcurrants, spices and cigar box, the 2021 Le Marquis de Calon-Ségur is medium to full-bodied, layered and lively, with powdery tannins and an impressively penetrating finish. It's a blend of 58% Merlot with 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter mainly from young vines. Director Vincent Millet explains that he doesn't want the gap in quality between his second wine and the grand vin to be too flagrant and that he'll take lots from the Calon-Ségur blend to improve the Marquis if necessary—as it was in 2021. 89-91 Punkte

The 2020 Calon-Ségur is a brilliant wine from an estate in the ascendant. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, red berries, fresh mint, pencil shavings, violets and rose petals, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a vibrant core of fruit, powdery structuring tannins and a long, perfumed finish. Integrated and harmonious, this pure, concentrated and dynamic wine is one of the finest vintages that Vincent Millet and his team have produced to date.

99 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheJeb Dunnuck im März 2023 zum Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe:
The 2020 Château Calon Ségur is pure gold and another masterpiece from this estate. Harvested all in September and pulled from their 48 hectares of vines, the blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that spent 20 months all in new French oak, and it hit 13.2% natural alcohol. My notes started and ended with "wow," and this riveting Saint-Estèphe offers a heavenly bouquet of red and black currants, truffly earth, iron, espresso, and tobacco leaf. With incredible purity of fruit, full-bodied richness, and ultra-fine tannins, it's a deep, pure, layered 2020 that deserves at least 7-8 years of bottle age and will cruise for 40-50 years in cold cellars. Hats off to the team at Calon Ségur

Blueberries, blackberries, spearmint, currants and sweet spices on the nose. Mocha and walnuts, too. Lots of flavor here, with a medium to full body and muscular yet velvety tannins that melt seamlessly into the wine. Long, polished and delicious already. Keeps going. Better from 2025.

95 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheJames Molsworth beschreibt Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe im Januar 2023 wie folgt:
This is among the more backward wines of the vintage, showing a slightly burly mix of chestnut, warm paving stone, bay leaf and burnished leather notes amid a densely packed core of black currant and bitter plum reduction. Really riveted, with a warm cast iron spine and a mouthwatering savory edge driving the finish. Lovely character in this wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2040. –JM

Deep purple-black in color, it bursts from the glass with bombastic scents of stewed black plums, crème de cassis and blueberry pie with nuances of violets and licorice, plus a waft of menthol. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of juicy black fruits with plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing spicy. Aromas of redcurrants and plums with blueberries and black licorice, following through to a full body that’s so refined and polished, the tannins integrated wonderfully into the fruit. Fresh, linear and persistent. Real clarity and purity to this. Try after 2025.

Plenty of blackcurrant and blackberry aromas with hints of black truffle and mushroom. It’s medium-bodied with an attractive core of cool fruit and a flavorful finish. Wet-earth undertone. Second wine of Calon Segur. Drink after 2025.

The second wine from Calon Ségur, the 2018 Le Marquis De Calon Segur shows the ripe, sexy side to the vintage and has terrific blackcurrant and red plum-like fruits as well as lots of tobacco and cedary spice aromas and flavors. Close to an even split of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, this full-bodied, gorgeously texture, balanced Saint-Estate should be snatched up by readers. It's in the running for the top second wine of the vintage!

98 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Calon Segur 2016 Saint EstepheJames Suckling Januar 2019:

99 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den 2018er Chateau Calon Segur aus Saint EstepheVerkostungsnotiz vom 11.03.2021

97 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheWilliam Kelley am 06.04.2023 zum Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe:

96 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint EstepheJames Suckling beschreibt den Chateau Calon Segur 2020 Saint Estephe im Januar 2023 wie folgt:

–JM

Terlan Winkl Sauvignon Blanc 2022 DOC
Seit 1956 sortenrein vinifiziert

Terlan Pinot Grigio Tradition 2022 DOC

Flattering, with ripe, minty blackberries, black plums, tobacco, hazelnuts and a hint of mocha. A full-bodied, tightly wound red with powerful but creamy tannins that will need a year or two to soften more. Long, creamy finish. Drink after 2023.
