Lusciously-textured, dark-cherries, coffee beans, and licorice already show well in the round, supple, fresh, medium-bodied, plummy wine. This is going to be simply delicious on release. But, if you allow it a year or so for the oak to better integrate, it is going to be an even better wine. Drink from 2025-2037.

92 Punkte vom Falstaff für den Chateau de La Riviere 2022 Fronsac Den Chateau de La Riviere 2022 Fronsac beschreibt Fallstaff wie folgt:
Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Zarte Edelholzwürze, schwarze Kirschen, ein Hauch von Brombeeren, Orangenzesten. Mittlere Komplexität, rote Kirschen, integrierte Tannine, mineralisch, bleibt gut haften.

91-93+ Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau de La Riviere 2022 Fronsac Den Chateau de La Riviere 2022 Fronsac beschreibt Jeb Dunnuck wie folgt:
From a great terroir in Fronsac, the 2022 Château De La Rivière is inky hued and offers up a ripe, powerful bouquet of cassis, black cherries, scorched earth, tobacco, and chocolate, with a terrific sense of minerality. It's rich and full-bodied, with ripe tannins and beautiful purity. This could easily end up being the finest vintage for this château to date.

The 2022 Haut-Bages-Libéral is lovely, bursting with aromas of blackberries and cherries mingled with notions of orange zest, rose petals and violets. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand, with lively acids and a bright, chalky finish, its low pH of 3.54 reflects a decade of organic farming and the limestone subsoils that characterize this sector of Pauillac.

Lots of redcurrants and blackcurrants with some cassis as well as iron, tile, stone and hints of dried herbs. Full-bodied with lots of pretty structure and very juicy tannins. Lively and energetic. Exciting to taste. pH 3.54 and with 13.9% alcohol. From biodynamically grown grapes. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification.

The 2022 Château Haut-Bages Libéral checks in as 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot that will spend 16 months in 40% new French oak. It's a ripe, medium to full-bodied, balanced Pauillac with a terrific sense of elegance as well as minerality. Classic Pauillac notes of ripe black fruits, leafy tobacco, lead pencil, and spring flowers emerge from the glass, and it has ripe tannins, good acidity, and solid overall balance.

Mint-leaf, flowers, plums, and black currants with peppery spices create the nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh, bright, soft, energetic, spicy, and floral. There is a lot of energy, vibrancy and freshness in this wine. The crisp, chewy, red currant finish is spicy, long, and bright, with a dab of spearmint that comes in at the end of the finish. The wine was produced from a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 13% Merlot. 13.9% ABV, 3.54 pH. Picking took place September 6 - September 26. Drink from 2027-2045.

Round and smooth, so pure, like silk, just so beautifully textured straight away with clear bite, bright fresh upfront fruit - tangy strawberries, raspberries and black cherries with powdery, chalky, and tense tannins giving both the frame but also a charming appeal. It’s intense but controlled and finessed. Maybe lacking a touch of fruity fleshiness right now but the Cabernet is at the fore, giving the backbone and the seriousness. So well executed -a shining star of an estate with such beautiful pure wines. The pH and alcohol is low with the acidity coming from the chalk and limestone terroir, all well integrated giving an elegant, very drinkable aspect while still having underlying power and direction. Crystalline with exceptional energy. 3.54pH. Ageing: 16 months, 40% in new oak barrels, 40% in barrels of one wine, 20% in amphorae.

Tasted on two separate occasions with consistent notes, the 2022 Château Les Gravières is 100% Merlot harvested between September 14th and 17th from healthy yields of 55 hectoliters per hectare. It's a medium to full-bodied, ripe, yet seamless and balanced Saint-Emilion with lots of meaty, smoky red and black fruits, some tobacco, roasted coffee, and spring flower nuances, fine tannins, and a great finish. It's a beautifully made 2022 with lots to love. Due to the unfortunate passing of owner Denis Barraud in 2023, this estate is now being managed by Denis' nephew, Franck Canal-Descude, with consulting advice from Thomas Duclos's Oenoteam.

Deeply colored, the wine reminds me of eating black forest cake with all of its dark chocolate, black cherries, coconut and espresso. Powerful, concentrated, lush and creamy, there is a wealth of perfectly ripe, balanced, opulently-textured fruit on the palate and in the finish. 2022 was the last vintage for the owner, Denis Barraud who passed away shortly after the wine was made. He will be missed. His 2022 will be a tribute to him. Drink from 2025-2042

A delicious and well-constructed wine from the Phélan team in 2022. Polished, balanced and just so drinkable. A gorgeous texture straight away, clean and clear, juicy, vibrant and grippy with a chalky, flint and graphite element to the fine tannins. You really feel they've taken the best the vintage had to offer with precise definition to all the elements; ripe bramble and cherry fruit, high acidity with a wonderful spiced and mineral signature from the St-Estephe terroir. A combination of power and charm that builds in structure and intensity while keeping a mouthwatering energy from start to finish. A top buy - and could be upscored in bottle! Tasted three times. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.8pH. 96IPT. Harvest took 13 days in total, from 14 - 26 September whereas the last three years picking has started on the 24th September. A yield of 28hl/ha. 75% grand vin production. The team have also been working for the past few years on different yeasts for fermentation in order to get more precision and a stronger link to the vineyards. 50% of production in 2022 was vinified using natural yeasts - five strains taken from five plots and used to vinify grapes from each of their respective parcels.

Black cherries, and flowers, with licorice and cocoa nuances are found on the nose, and palate. Medium-bodied, with a core of lusciously-textured, plums and chocolate, here, the vibrancy and elegance in the fruits really stand out, giving you a nice freshness to the sweet fruits from the mid-palate through to the finish. Fresh and fruity aromas on the nose, bright and lively. Sharp with high acidity at the fore - just the right side of sour, with lively strawberry and red cherry flavours. Lovely powdery tannins have a nice expansive texture but also keep definition and a sense of gentle grip all the way through. On the more linear side now, strict and focussed with lovely fruit purity and such overall charm. Really quite approachable with tang and definition and still some power underneath that extends into a long, mineral finish. Feels a touch high alcohol on the finish but there’s a lot to like here. Ageing in 30% new oak. Harvest 17 September - 3 October.

Lovely dark fruity fragrance with perfumed floral aromas on the nose, smells expressive and open. Smooth and supple, a lovely combination of tension, mouthwatering acidity and fruitiness here, such sleek texture with definition and soft juiciness. The tannins have grip and purpose with a softly fleshy and mineral sensation - liquorice, wet stone and graphite - giving a wide and interesting expansion on the palate. Feels cool and controlled, serious and focussed, with balance, still with concentration and power and grip. Feels very classy on the palate. - Georgina Hindle

As is the case at neighbor Château Margaux, the 2022 Palmer is one of the most powerful wines this estate has ever produced. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, it offers up aromas of blackberries, burning embers, violets, iris and sweet soil tones, followed by a full-bodied, broad and expansive palate, its velvety attack segueing into a rich and layered core. Supple, seamless and concentrated, it checks in at 14.4% alcohol and a rather high pH of 3.79.

So much class in the nose with a sophisticated kaleidoscope of dark fruit such as blackcurrants, and spices such as salt and pepper, as well as cloves and nutmeg. Full-bodied. Compacted and dense yet weightless. It opens beautifully. The tannins go on and on with wonderful presence. Salty undertones.

97-99 Punkte Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Palmer 2022 MargauxDen Chateau Palmer 2022 hat Jeb Dunnuck wie folgt verkostet:

The 2022 Château Palmer is utterly brilliant, so much so that I questioned in my notes if this would challenge the 2018. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, from tiny yields of 22 hectoliters per hectare, its mammoth-sized personality offers layers of blue and black fruits, notes of melted chocolate, crushed stone, and spring flowers, building, velvety tannins, and a great, great finish. While many estates commented that they extracted less in the vintage, Palmer went in a different direction and extracted more during the vinifications to provide a solid backbone to match the concentration and power of the vintage. It appears to have worked brilliantly, and hats off to Thomas Duroux for having the confidence to go his own path. He has produced a truly Grand Vin in 2022. The alcohol here is a normal 14.4%, and the pH is a healthy 3.79.
