The 2017 Rauzan-Ségla is coming together very nicely. Soft and silky. the 2017 is a wine of pure and total finesse. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit. tobacco. cedar and licorice add pretty top notes. but more than anything else. the 2017 impresses with its statuesque elegance and total balance; nothing in particular stands out. For that reason. Rauzan-Ségla is the sort of wine that is easy to overlook. and yet all the elements of a top notch Left-Bank wine are present. Tasted three times.

It has a fascinating bouquet with pure blackberry. iris. crushed stone and a light estuarine influence that becomes stronger with aeration. just a faint touch of oyster shell developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. crisp acidity. very elegant and refined. possibly the most feminine Rauzan-Ségla in recent years with a silky smooth finish. Eine Sensation in Flaschen - Eine grosse Überraschung bei unserer Verkostung am 07.11.2018 in Zürich im Dolder Grand auf der UGCB Verkostung des Jahrgangs 2016. Chateau Durfort Vivens 2016 Margaux, mann könnte es mit der Liebe auf den ersten Schluck beschreiben. Die bis dato höchste Intensität des Cabernet in diesem Wein, 94% purer Cabernet und deren wolllüstige Cassisfrucht die einem geradeaus ins Gesicht springt. Dann im Mund fängt der Wein an zu rocken, er ist wild und ungestüm und dennoch hat er eine so tolle Balance, man ist schier sprachlos. Wie geht das in so einem Wein. Der 2016er wird mir immer im Gedächtnis bleiben. Was danach folgte ist eine Elexiervariante mit dem 2018er. Diese Miniproduktion und dann gefolgt von gleich drei Traumjahren (2019,2020 UND 2021!) für diesen Wein, jeder Jahrgang einfach auf seine ganz spezielle Art und Weise eigenständig.

Deep and resonant. but also remarkably polished. the 2016 Malescot is a winner. Hints of iron. smoke. cedar. tobacco and scorched earth add nuance. but it is the wine's sense of poise that is most remarkable. I loved it. Tasted three times.

Lange ist es her, dass uns ein "kleiner" Bordeaux so sehr begeistert hat wie dieser 2020iger Chateau Marjosse. Schon in den Primeurproben stach dieser Wein mit einer sehr guten Leistung heraus. Jetzt,nachdem wir die ersten abgefüllten Flaschen im Laden haben, konnten wir unser Interesse nicht zügeln und haben direkt verkostet. Unglaublich kompakte Aromatik, viel dunkle Frucht, auch etwas kühl Würziges zeigt sich im Hintergrund. Klar ist bei diesem Wein der Merlot tonangebend, eben mit dieser fast schon verschwenderischen Frucht, durch einen guten Anteil an Cabernet Franc verfügt der Wein über Frische, Tannin und würzige Tiefe. Cabernet Franc, der heimliche Star am rechten Ufer des Bordeaux. Wenn sich dann auch noch einer der erfahrendsten und besten Winemaker verantwortlich zeigt, muss am Ende schon was gutes bei rauskommen. Aber "gut" wäre bei diesem Wein eine wirkliche Untertreibung. Bitte verpassen Sie diesen Wein nicht, denn was kann es Schöneres geben, als sorgenlos eine Flasche nach der anderen öffenn zu können ohne sich Sorgen um das Weinbudget machen zu müssen.

Der C des Carmes Haut Brion ist einfach ein fantastischer Weinwert. Jeder redet zwar über das Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion, aber ein weiterer Teil der unglaublichen Erfolgsgeschichte die hier im Zusammenhang steht, haben noch zu wenige auf dem Radar! Diesen ebenso unglaublich guten Wein, der sich von einem Hoch zum anderen hangelt, dürfen Sie einfach nicht verpassen. Er wird nicht en Primeur vermarktet und tritt demzufolge erst später in Erscheinung, dennoch wird er immer zu den Primeursproben gezeigt. Oft verlassen wir das Weingut mit einem breiten Grinsen und freuen uns auf den nächsten Release des C des Carmes. Denn was man hier für deutlich unter 40€ bekommt ist immer eine wahre Freude für die Geschmackspapillen. Genuss wird bei diesem feinen und so balancierten Pessac Leognan gross geschrieben. Die Cuvee besteht aus zwei drittel Cabernet und 1 drittel Merlot, mit Varianzen in den Jahrgängen. Der Ausbau erfolgt über 20% in neuen Fässern und die 80% in gebrauchten Fässern. Und wenn ich Ihnen jetzt noch verrate, dass sich das selbe Team um diesen Wein kümmert wie es das auch bei Chateau Carmes Haut Brion tut, sollten Sie mir versprechen, nicht zu viel die Werbetrommel für diesen Geheimtipp zu schlagen, denn sonst kann es das bald gewesen sein mit diesem Bargain Tipp aus Pessac. VERKOSTUNG am 20.06.2024 Frisch geöffnet springt einem die saftige Schattenmorelle aus dem Glas, gemischt mit floralen zart würzigen Anklängen, etwas feinwürzig grünes ist im Spiel, aber überhaupt nicht negativ behaftet, vielmehr vitalisierend zu verstehen. Im Mund saftig und frisch, man nimmt Fülle und Spannkraft am Gaumen wahr aber das ist so super trinkig, dass schon schnell eine halbe Flasche geleert ist, bis der Wein dann anfängt eine dunklere Frucht zu zeigen, die Kirsche wandelt sich etwas in dunkle Waldbeeren und rote Paprika. Was er sich beibehält ist diese unglaubliche Trinkbarkeit. Der Wein wirkt zwar kräftiger im Mund als es seine 13 Vol.% Alkohol vermuten liessen, doch er ist so unglaublich lebhaft und vital. WOW ein Spasswein der auch anspruchsvolle Geniesser auf ganzer Linie beglücken wird. Den C des Carmes müssen Sie unbedingt probieren!

Another terrific Saint- Estèphe is the 2020 Château Capbern, which comes from the same team as Calon Ségur. (Current director Vincent Millet was brought on board in 2021.) Coming from 33 hectares of vines on sandy, gravelly, clay soils, the final blend is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The élevage spanned 18 months in 60% new French oak, and this beauty hit just 12.8% natural alcohol. Gorgeous cassis, violets, damp earth, iron, and classy oak all emerge on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with beautiful tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and the vintage's pure, focused, age-worthy style front and center. Give bottles just 4-6 years and enjoy over the following two decades.

It's just an impeccably made, satisfying, classic Right Bank beauty to drink over the coming 10-12 years. Bravo!
