Chateau La Fleur Petrus liegt in der Gemeinde von Pomerol und gehört zu den absoluten Superstars der Appelation. Das Weingut liegt gegenüber von Chateau Petrus neben Chateau Lafleur, die Weinberg von La Fleur Petrus liegen am nordöstlichen Rand des Hochplateaus von Pomerol, wo die Besonderheit des Bodens der große Kies ist, auch eine Besonderheit ist das Fehlen von Ton oder Sand. La Fleur- Pétrus wurde 1953 von Jean Pierre Moueix erworben, die Besitzer der ebenfalls weltberühmten Weingüter Chateau Petrus und Chateau Trotanoy. Das Anwesen von La Fleur Petrus konnte 1994 geschickt erweitert werden, durch den Kauf von Rebanlagen die eigentlich zur Chateau Le Gay gehörten. Das Weingut produziert im Schnitt 45 tausend Flaschen auf einer Rebfläche von 13,5 Ha.

Englische Beschreibung:
Situated between Châteaux Lafleur and Petrus, Château La Fleur-Pétrus took its name in the 18th century. Jean-Pierre Moueix, who established his wine merchant business in Libourne in 1937, purchased La Fleur-Pétrus in 1950. This historic estate on the plateau of Pomerol was his first vineyard acquisition.
La Fleur-Pétrus is composed predominantly of Merlot, which lends silkiness and generosity to the wine, while a small percentage of Cabernet Franc contributes rigor and complexity.
The vineyard is made up of three parcels on the plateau of Pomerol with altitudes averaging 33 to 38 meters above sea level. The pebbly soils from the northern parcel yield a wine of great elegance with notes of black cherries. The center plot, known for its summer heat (the area is called “Tropchaud”), produces a wine of tremendous suppleness with a hint of plum. Wine from the southern parcel is particularly velvety, dense, structured, with a pronounced nose of blackcurrant.
Blended, these three singular terroirs with nuanced and complementary characteristics produce a generous, expressive wine with apparent structure and a dominance of black fruit. An attentive tasting reveals remarkable refinement, complexity, and a touch of violet.

Die Nase ist reich an dunklen Früchten, fantastisch diese etwas verspielte Würze in der Nase. Im Mund spielt er seine Komplexität voll aus. Mit jeder Sekunde schiebt er mehr über den Gaumen, sehr kraftvoll und klar, mit Krokant und gerösteten Nüssen im Finale. Sehr balanciert, auch hier verleiht der Cabernet die Würze. Das Tannin ist super reif.

One of the most seamless, ethereal wines in the vintage, the 2018 Château La Fleur-Petrus checks in as 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot coming from a 45-acre vineyard of deep clay and gravelly soils located on the upper plateau of Pomerol. The vines average 35 years in age, and the élevage spans 16-18 months in 50% new French oak. Unquestionably in the same league as Trotanoy, Le Gay, Lafleur, Hosanna, and the other leviathans of the region, its deep purple hue is followed by a gorgeously layered, multi-dimensional 2018 with full-bodied aromas and flavors of black raspberry and blackcurrant fruits intermixed with spring flowers, dried herbs, and a hint of white truffle. Medium to full-bodied, with stunning symmetry and balance, its tannins are ripe and polished, and it has nicely integrated acidity as well as a great finish. It should drink well for another 20-25 years.
