The 2019 Saintayme offers up a veritable explosion of sweet red cherry. kirsch and floral notes. Deep and lush. with tremendous freshness. Saintayme is terrific in 2019. In fact. this is one of the better recent vintages I can remember tasting. The purity of fruit and overall energy are both remarkable. while the harder edges and slightly savory qualities that can be present are barely perceptible. The 2019 is 100% Merlot picked between October 1 and 4. Denis Durantou's 2019s are absolutely brilliant across the board. My tasting was obviously bittersweet. as Durantou lost his battle with illness just a few weeks prior.

Denis Durantou was one of the most intriguing characters in Bordeaux. I can't say I knew him well. but I always enjoyed tasting with him. as he was a person that spoke more with his eyes than with words. Things were implied rather than overtly stated. So. I tasted the 2019s with daughters Constance and Noémie over Zoom. in typical 2020 fashion. The Durantou sisters describe 2019 as a year with an early flowering and homogenous ripening that led to small. concentrated berries and higher pHs than normal. Temperatures were kept cool in the cellar. where both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations took place over cuvaison of 21 days (for all wines). in a reductive enviroment with little oxygen. From top to bottom. the Durantou 2019s are positively stellar. Don't miss them!

The 2019 Saintayme. Denis Durantou's Saint-Émilion pure Merlot vineyard. was picked between 1 and 4 October and matures in 30% new oak. It is the most outgoing of the late winemaker's sextet of wines. kirsch and crushed strawberry scents bursting from the glass with a touch of cola. The palate is fleshy and ripe with impressive weight. Good density develops towards the back end with a saline tang on the aftertaste. Give it two or three years in bottle.

Black cherries, red plums, tobacco, and chalky minerality all emerge from the 2019 Château Alcée, a juicy, medium-bodied, round, incredibly satisfying Castillon with ripe tannins and rock-solid overall balance. It's beautiful today, yet I see no reason it shouldn't evolve and drink well for a decade.

Lange ist es her, dass uns ein "kleiner" Bordeaux so sehr begeistert hat wie dieser 2020iger Chateau Marjosse. Schon in den Primeurproben stach dieser Wein mit einer sehr guten Leistung heraus. Jetzt,nachdem wir die ersten abgefüllten Flaschen im Laden haben, konnten wir unser Interesse nicht zügeln und haben direkt verkostet. Unglaublich kompakte Aromatik, viel dunkle Frucht, auch etwas kühl Würziges zeigt sich im Hintergrund. Klar ist bei diesem Wein der Merlot tonangebend, eben mit dieser fast schon verschwenderischen Frucht, durch einen guten Anteil an Cabernet Franc verfügt der Wein über Frische, Tannin und würzige Tiefe. Cabernet Franc, der heimliche Star am rechten Ufer des Bordeaux. Wenn sich dann auch noch einer der erfahrendsten und besten Winemaker verantwortlich zeigt, muss am Ende schon was gutes bei rauskommen. Aber "gut" wäre bei diesem Wein eine wirkliche Untertreibung. Bitte verpassen Sie diesen Wein nicht, denn was kann es Schöneres geben, als sorgenlos eine Flasche nach der anderen öffenn zu können ohne sich Sorgen um das Weinbudget machen zu müssen.

Red and black currants, tobacco, new saddle leather, chocolaty oak, and Provençal herb notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Badette, a ripe, opulent, seamless 2019 with loads to love. Based on 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, it has lots of background oak yet balancing fruit, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's not for the old-school Claret lovers out there, but I suspect it will turn into a classic Saint-Emilion with 5-7 years of bottle age.

Espresso,, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is seriously impressive. It's as simple as that.

Ein gut strukturierter Wein mit runden, weichen Tanninen

Dieser Bourgogne Rouge stammt von einem sehr alten, 2 Hektar umfassenden, lehmigen Weinberg mit 70 Jahre alten Reben, der neben dem Château de Pommard liegt.

Verkostungsnotiz von Sommelier Marian Henß (März 2020):
Farbe: Sattes Kirschrot mit lecuhtenden, violetten Reflexen
Nase: Der intensiv duftenden Beerenfrucht steht eine ungewohnt rauchige, speckige Komponente gegenüber. Aber bei aller Vielfalt von Himbeere, Holunderbeere, Cassis und Sauerkirsche ist diese Abwechslung herzlich willkommen. Der rauchige Charakter ist angenehm dosiert und erinnert ein wenig an zart geräucherten Speck oder Zedernholz. Mit ein wenig Geduld verfliegt diese Note schnell im Glas. Vorhang auf für die reine Expression der Beerenfrüchte. Süßkirsche und Sauerkirsche wirken im Wechselspiel. Im Hintergrund sind zurückhaltend helle Tabakblätter, ein wenig Anis und Koriandersaat wahrzunehmen. Aus dem Kräutergarten kann man ganz schwach Petersilie und etwas Liebstöckel entdecken.
Gaumen: Im Antrunk packt er dann direkt richtig zu. Die Säure ist positiv im Vordergrund und dominiert das Mundgefühl auf balancierte Art und Weise. Knackig ausgebaut und mit viel Saftigkeit versehen, gelingt es dem Bourgogne Rouge „La Taupe“ aus 2020 die Gläser schnell zu leeren. Die aufkommende Frucht, allen voran reichlich Sauerkirsche und Himbeere, erfährt direkt das Säureschwert als Gegenpart. Mit viel Finesse und straffem Gerüst manövriert er pointiert auf den Gaumen zu. Ein ganz feines Tannin lässt sich attestieren. Sein kühler, steiniger Charakter weiß von Anfang an zu überzeugen. (Copyright Marian Henß und Vinaturel)

Collovray et Terrier Macon Rouge Verger des Feuillants 2021

Fruchtige und geschmeidige Aromen von wilden Beeren, voller Fruchtgeschmack mit Vanille-Anklängen, weiche Tannine.

Die Trauben werden durch Schwerkraft in Bottiche gefüllt. Vor der Gärung erfolgt eine Mazeration bei niedriger Temperatur für 2 bis 3 Tage. Der Tresterhut wird täglich geklopft, um die Freisetzung der Aromen zu fördern. Die Temperaturen werden so kontrolliert, dass sie 25°C nicht überschreiten. Die Gärung in den Fässern dauert etwa zehn Tage, bevor die Trauben gepresst werden. Malolaktische Gärung und Lagerung in Edelstahltanks für 6 bis 12 Monate.

Der Mâcon ist bekannt für seine sanften Kalksteinhügel, die mehr Sonne, weniger Regen und eine geringere Frostgefahr aufweisen als der Rest des Burgunds. Der 'Verger des Feuilants' ist eine Parzelle mit 50 Jahre alten Gamay-Rebstöcken in der Gemeinde Charnay-lès-Mâcon. Der Name rührt daher, dass die Parzelle durch einen kleinen Pfirsich-, Apfel- und Pflaumengarten in zwei Hälften geteilt wird (auf Französisch "verger"). Diese Parzellen sind nach Südwesten ausgerichtet, so dass sie den ganzen Tag über der Sonne ausgesetzt sind und ihre Wärme bis in die späten Abendstunden beibehalten. Auf diese Weise werden die Reben vor raschen Temperaturschwankungen bewahrt und die Photosynthese wird angeregt, so dass die Gamay-Traube (die normalerweise mit der weiter südlich gelegenen Region Beaujolais assoziiert wird) im prekären Kontinentalklima des Burgunds unter Stress schnell ihre physiologische Reife entwickeln kann.
