93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Franc Mayne 2019 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Franc Mayne 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Franc Mayne is a real head-turner. Ample and full bodied, Franc Mayne brings tons of black cherry/plum fruit, espresso, chocolate and licorice to the fore. The 2019 is sumptuous and exotic, with tons of intensity, with all the elements impeccably put together. It's a terrific Franc Mayne.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Franc Mayne 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Grand Mayne has a beautifully defined, pure bouquet of black cherry, blueberry, crushed violet and mineral aromas. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, crisp acidity and touches of dark chocolate toward the finish, which displays both power and elegance. This is a superb Grand Mayne courtesy of Jean-Antoine Nony.

Violets, blackcurrants, cloves, tobacco, orange zest and dark chocolate on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins and fresh acidity. Sleek and refined with elegant floral and spice notes on a long finish. Interesting hint of bitterness at the end. Try from 2025.

96 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für denJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Pavie Macquin 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Sleek, pure, aromatic and streamlined version, with lovely cassis, cherry puree, violet and mesquite notes tightly wound together, while anise and savory hints peek in. Long finish is carried by chalky minerality. A wine of poise. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2024 through 2037. 5,500 cases made.

97 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Pavie Macquin 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Pavie Macquin is a blend of 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly, sensuously unfurls to reveal a gorgeous perfume of Black Forest cake, Morello cherries, baked plums and violets, with nuances of licorice, Indian spices and fertile loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has achingly plush tannins and fantastic freshness framing the spicy black fruit and mineral layers, finishing long and so, so fragrant. Wow—just stunning!

The 2018 Pavie Macquin was impressive out of barrel. It has retained its opulent bouquet, perhaps becoming even more luxuriant and plush, offering copious black cherries, cassis and violet aromas and hints of vanilla pod and iodine in the background. The palate is where this really impresses, because its opulence is effortlessly counterbalanced by a bead of acidity that imparts freshness and tension. This is a multilayered Pavie-Macquin endowed with tremendous length on the aftertaste. Even after 60 seconds I can still feel this Saint-Émilion lapping upon my senses. Superb.

What strikes you is how aromatic this already is at this stage. Complex and decadent, showing lots of dark berries, smoked meat, wet earth, and dried leaves. Decadent. Full-bodied with very ripe and polished, velvety tannins. Great finish.

97-99 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Thirty-three plots contributed to this wine, out of the 43 in production. Five went into Petit Cheval and five into bulk. The 2018 Cheval Blanc is a blend of 54% Merlot. 40% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, with a 3.75 pH and 14.5% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color, the nose is more open at the core of the wine than the Le Petit Cheval, strutting out of the glass with bold, ripe black cherries, cassis, warm plums and raspberry preserves notes. With coaxing, a whole array of fragrant spice, floral and earth notes emerge, followed by candied violets, star anise, powdered cinnamon, iron ore, tapenade and truffles plus wafts of camphor and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firm yet possesses a beautifully plush structure of velvety tannins wrapping round the densely packed, complex, fragrant fruit, with seamless freshness and a very long, layered finish.

97-100 Punkte bei Vinous für den Chateau-Cheval-Blanc-2018-Saint-EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Cheval Blanc is dazzling. Creamy, supple and inviting, the 2018 is endowed with phenomenal balance. The tannins and overall structure are imposing and yet the richness of the fruit and perfect ripeness of the tannin really stand out. In 2018, Cheval is a bit richer than is often the case, but that is not at all a bad thing. I am struck by how much freshness and energy the 2018 has. Hints of lavender, spice and licorice add shades of nuance, but it is the wine's overall sense of harmony that leaves the strongest impression. A precise counterpoint of fruit richness and finesse makes for a truly unforgettable Cheval Blanc und vergibt ihm 97-100 Punkte.

The 2019 Figeac has turned out brilliantly. Wafting from the glass with aromas of blackberries, cassis, warm spices, violets and pencil shavings, framed by a deft touch of nicely integrated new oak, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with terrific depth at the core, powdery structuring tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, precise finish. Rich but vibrant, this 2019 reflects the new precision that Frédéric Faye has brought to Figeac; but while it's richer and more polished than the wines of yesteryear, the estate's identity hasn't been lost.

98 Suckling Punkte für den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint EmilionJames Suckling über den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint Emilion:

1 Dec, 2021 – This is a really beautiful red with crushed-berry, plum, bark, mushroom and earth character. It’s full and creamy-textured with lots of tannins, but they are integrated and polished and flow across the palate. So much depth and intensity, yet there’s underlying grace and class. Try after 2025.

99 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Figeac is without question one of the wines of the vintage. All the promise it showed as a young barrel sample, is all there in bottle, too. Estate Director Frédéric Faye crafted a towering, statuesque Figeac built on vertical energy and a feeling of vibrancy that never lets up. Deep layers of red/purplish fruit, cedar, tobacco, mint and dried flowers are framed by a super-classic expression of structure that keeps things in balance. There is a bit more Cabernet Franc in this year's blend, and that definitely comes through. Readers who can find the 2019 should not hesitate, as it is truly majestic.

98 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint EmilionJeb Dunnuck im April 2022:

The 2019 Château Figeac checks in as 36% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 30% Merlot, and it's another brilliant wine from Frédéric Faye. This deep purple-hued effort offers a beautiful Pauillac-like bouquet of ripe black cherries, cassis, damp earth, leafy herbs, chocolate, and smoked tobacco. It has classic Figeac herbal, earthy goodness (no doubt due to its high percentage of Cabernet) and is medium to full-bodied on the palate, has perfect tannins and flawless balance, all making for a brilliant Saint-Emilion that brings richness and power paired with finesse and elegance. Give bottles 4-5 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following 30+

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint Emilion Und Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Figeac was bottled in mid-July. Deep in color, with a bouquet that is initially backward and reticent. It requires a few minutes to shake off the veil of oak from the élevage. As I observed last year, the Cabernet Franc is very expressive this year, contributing blackberry and graphite notes and lending a more Left Bank-style bouquet. The palate is very fresh from the first moment, and very well structured, delivering layers of black fruit struck through by a fine bead of acidity. The tannins are very fine, and that crucial saline element appears toward the persistent finish. This is overtly classic in style and will require cellaring to reveal its full potential. But what potential! Chapeau, Frédéric Faye and team Manoncourt.

95 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint EmilionFür den Wine Spectator verköstigte James Molesworth den Chateau Figeac 2019 Saint Emilion:

Large-scaled, capturing all the rich and flamboyant cassis, steeped plum and blackberry reduction notes that are hallmarks of the vintage, along with a broad swath of loam and warm gravel underneath as tobacco and alder accents fill in wherever possible. Muscular and toothy along the edges but rock-solid in build, with enough fruit to round into form eventually. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2024 through 2040. 9,062 cases made.

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarter Wasserrand.

The Cabernet Franc-dominated 2018 Château Petit Gravet Aîné (there's 20% Merlot) comes from the upper plateau in Saint-Emilion and was raised in new French oak. It's handled its élevage nicely and has just subtle vanilla and spicy oak notes as well as impressive red, black, and blue fruits intermixed with notes of acacia flowers, spice box, forest floor, and tobacco. Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

The 2018 Petit Gravet Aîné is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, weighing in with 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with vibrant notes of kirsch, black raspberries and stewed plum, plus hints of lavender, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is juicy and plush, featuring loads of fragrant earth nuances to back up the ripe red and black berry layers and bags of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This is an effortlessly beautiful Saint-Émilion! This is a tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard in the Saint-Émilion foothills, situated west of Château Canon-La-Gaffelière in deep, sandy-clay soils.

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Léoville Las Cases is a majestic. seamless. opulent wine. Yes. I am talking about Las Cases. traditionally one of the Left Bank's most austere. forbiddingly tannic wines. Sumptuous and full-bodied. the 2016 takes over all the senses. with seemingly endless layers of inky. purplish fruit. Mint. lavender and white flowers are some of the many notes that emerge from the exotic. arrestingly beautiful bouquet as the 2016 makes its case for consideration as one of the wines of the vintage. The 2016 got an extra three months in barrel and was therefore bottled on the later side. but that does not appear to have done anything to close the wine down. The 2016 was magnificent on both occasions I tasted it. Put simply. the 2016 Las Cases is a total stunner. Don't miss it!

100 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienLisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Very deep purple-black colored. the 2016 Léoville Las Cases (composed of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc) is quite closed to begin. yet with patient coaxing it unfurls beautifully to reveal suggestions of ripe blackcurrants. black raspberries. warm redcurrants and wild blueberries. followed by touches of unsmoked cigars. tilled red soil. cast iron pan. fallen leaves and lavender plus wonderfully fragrant wafts of lilacs and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied. the palate is packed with tightly knit. very subtle layers of minerals. floral notions and black and red berries. all framed by exquisitely ripe. silt-like tannins and fantastic freshness. finishing with epic length and depth. Simply captivating even in its youth. give it at least a decade in the cellar and then enjoy it over the next 50+ years.

98 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienVinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Léoville Las-Cases underwent three more months in barrel than usual. and was bottled in September 2018. It has an extremely intense bouquet that manages to retain otherworldly delineation. It is not as expressive as its peers at this early stage (but then again. it rarely is). Yet there is palpable coiled-up energy on the nose. and you can feel the mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with super-fine tannin and layers of pure black and blue fruit laced with allspice and a pinch of white pepper. It fans out wonderfully on the finish. which exerts fine grip but never overwhelms. This is undoubtedly one of the best wines ever made by the estate. Close to perfection.

100 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Leoville Las Cases 2016 Saint JulienJames Suckling im Februar 2019:

Very complex and alluringly spicy aromas that bubble in and out of the nose. together with fresh tobacco. raspberries and iodine. moving into blackcurrants. blackberries and a gently gravely. stony edge. The palate has incredible polish that is a foil for the intense power and concentration of this wine. The texture is flawless. building smoothly with fine-grained and focused tannins that sustain a long. fresh finish. The new 1986. which was a legend. This is probably better. A blend of 75 per cent cabernet sauvignon. 14 per cent merlot and 11 per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2024.
