Chateau Pedesclaux - Pauillac

Chateau Pedesclaux - Pauillac

The 2016 Pedesclaux is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, picked between 29 September and 18 October, matured in 60% new oak. It has a tightly-wound bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit, a touch of iodine and graphite. I like the subtle nature of this Pedesclaux, the brooding intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, crisp and fresh, a gorgeous salinity and a long and persistent, lightly spiced finish. This leaves the 2015 Pedesclaux far behind.

A gorgeous wine, the 2019 Château Pédesclaux shines for its pure, elegant, yet concentrated style, and it's certainly one of the finest vintages from this address. Cassis, black cherries, lead pencil, and violet notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. The purity and finesse are truly something here, and while it already offers pleasure, it deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will evolve for 20+ years.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Pedesclaux 2019 PauillacAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Pedesclaux 2019 Pauillac:

The 2019 Pédesclaux is quirky and full of character. It offers a beguiling mix of super-ripe dark fruit and savory Cabernet coupled with accents that offer a striking counterpoint. Black cherry, chocolate, new leather, spice, tobacco, incense and scorched earth lead into the substantial finish. There's more raciness than finesse in this Pauillac, but it all works well.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Pedesclaux 2019 PauillacUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Pedesclaux 2019 Pauillac:

The 2019 Pédesclaux, which is matured in 60% new oak, has a lively, classically styled bouquet of blackberry, briary, cedar and pressed violet scents, a touch of orange pith emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, very polished and seductive. The expressive floral component lends the Margaux-like personality I remarked upon from barrel. Quite persistent in the mouth, yet accessible, this will be difficult to resist (but try). [One sample had a more briny finish than others.

Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.

The Wine Cellar Insider (Jeff Leve) : 91-93 / 100

Ripe, fresh, medium-bodied and already quite easy to taste, the wine is floral, with dark, red pit fruits and tobacco leaf to start things off in the nose. Medium-bodied, soft and polished, with flesh and freshness in the red fruits on the palate, give this just a year or two and and it should be quite a treat to taste.. The wine is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV. Drink from 2024-2045.

Die Degustationsnotiz des Wine Advocate zum Chateau Pedesclaux 2020 Pauillac :

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Pedesclaux charges out of the gate with energetic notes of crushed blackberries, black raspberries and ripe blackcurrants, followed by suggestions of menthol, aniseed, violets and cedar chest. The medium-bodied palate quivers with vibrant, crunchy black and red berries layers, framed by firm, ripe tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and deliciously savory.

95-96 Suckling-Punkte für den Chateau Pedesclaux 2020
James Suckling schreibt zum Chateau Pedesclaux 2020 Pauillac Folgendes:

This is very chewy with dusty tannins and blackberry and blueberry character. Some chocolate, too. Full and layered. Such beautiful violet and black-cherry quality at the end with some raspberries. First year with organic farming. A nice step-up in quality.

90-92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Pedesclaux 2020
Das meint die Vinous-Mannschaft um Antonio Galloni zum Chateau Pedesclaux:

The 2020 Pédesclaux clearly possesses more complexity and terroir expression than the Deuxième Vin, featuring pressed iris and violet intermixed with blackberry and blueberry scents. There is an underlying mineralité/crushed rock note in the background that lends tension. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Saline and marine influenced, this is more sapid than maybe the previous two vintages, though it would benefit from a little more elegance and precision on the finish. But overall, this is a fine Pauillac.

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.
