The 2015 Clos Fourtet is a blend of 90% Merlot. 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. and it was picked between 18 September and 12 October. It has a voluminous bouquet with sweet cassis and blueberry aromas. rather smudged with violets coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin. ripe and voluptuous. dark chocolate infusing the red and black fruit with a touch of mint on the structured. graceful finish. What a fabulous Saint Emilion from Mathieu Cuvelier and his team - Clos Fourtet with breeding and class. It deserves 5-8 years in bottle.

Chateau Clos Fourtet 2015 Saint Emilion mit 97 Punkten bei VinousAntonio Galloni bewertet den Clos Fourtet 2015 im Februar 2018 wie folgt:

Clos Fourtet is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty in 2015. Powerful. vivid and wonderfully nuanced. it exudes class. Inky red/purplish stone fruit. lavender. spice. mint and orange peel give the 2015 its myriad shades of nuance. but it is the wine's balance and total sense of harmony that elevate it to the realm of the profound. In 2015. Clos Fourtet has a bit more body and resonance than is typically the case. Beneath all of the fruit. however. the 2015 has more than enough energy and structural underpinning to drink well for many years. This is a stunning wine from the Cuvelier family and consulting winemakers Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu. The blend is 88% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

James Mothels 31.März 2018:
Thoroughly ripe but seemingly light-footed. as a remarkably silky structure lets waves of plum sauce. blueberry reduction and raspberry puree glide through effortlessly. Light licorice. violet and ganache hints add to the finish. showing very fine chalky minerality in the background. Drink now through 2035. 4.417 cases made.

97 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2016 Saint EmilionVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

Love the dark-berry and intense black-olive and chocolate aromas that follow through to a full body and firm and chewy tannins that deliver a rich and delicious finish. Such polish and. at the same time. finesse. But one of the cellar. A blend of 90 per cent merlot. seven per cent cabernet sauvignon and three per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2022.

The 2016 Clos Fourtet is vivid. explosive and simply captivating. Inky blue/purplish berry fruit. lavender. spice and white flowers are all vivid in the glass. but it is the wine's silky. seamless personality that elevates it into a place among the wines of the vintage. In 2016. Clos Fourtet is stunningly beautiful and utterly compelling. This is a tremendous showing from proprietor Matthieu Cuvelier and consulting winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt. 96-99 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2018 Saint EmilionJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Dark plum and boysenberry fruit is laced with tobacco and chalk notes. while the fleshy grip slowly builds through the finish. This is seriously long. and though the fruit is gorgeous. the minerality steals the show in the end.

Deep garnet-purple colored. the 2018 Clos Fourtet is a little youthfully mute to begin. With coaxing. it opens out to notes of crushed blackberries. warm black plums and wild blueberries plus suggestions of forest floor. lavender. baking spices and potpourri. Full-bodied. the palate has an amazing texture of soft. plush tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the layer upon layer of berries and spices. finishing long and fragrant. 95-97 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2020
Das meint die Vinous-Mannschaft um Antonio Galloni zum Chateau Clos Fourtet:

The 2020 Clos Fourtet was picked September 15–30 at 40hl/ha and matured in 50% new oak. It has an expressive, winsome bouquet of red and blue fruit, crushed rose and iris, touches of blood orange coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and wonderful acidity. Harmonious and almost crystalline toward the finish. This is a very impressive Clos Fourtet that brims with freshness and persistence, gaining weight and depth over the course of an hour. It will battle the 2019 for supremacy.

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung.
