Produced by Denis Durantou of Château L’Eglise Clinet. the 2018 Saintayme is made of 100% Merlot with 30% new oak and 14.5% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored. it bursts from the glass with plum preserves. crushed blackberries and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of lavender. unsmoked cigar and fragrant earth. Medium to full-bodied. the palate reveals beautiful freshness and elegance with soft tannins and loads of mineral sparks on the finish.

89-92 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Saintayme 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Saintayme 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru wie folgt:

Denis Durantou's 2018 Saintayme is especially fine in 2018. Bright. floral and energetic. Saintayme really shines. In fact. I can't remember a recent vintage with this much finesse. The tannins need time to soften. but there is plenty of radiant fruit waiting to emerge. I won't be surprised if the finished wine is even better than this note suggests. Tasted two times.

Currant, red-tea, chili, chocolate and lemon-zest aromas. Chalk and crushed gravel, too. It’s medium-bodied with tight, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Sleek and tight with crunchy berry, mineral and zesty notes on the finish. Complex. Pretty center palate to this. Extremely polished. Try from 2025.

94 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2018 Saint EmilionA blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged for around 18 months in oak barrels, 40% new, the 2018 Tour Saint Christophe weighs in at 14.6% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out of the glass with bold notions of baked black cherries, plum preserves and blueberry pie plus underlying suggestions of Christmas cake, Chinese five spice and dusty soil. The full-bodied palate packs in the black and blue fruit preserves layers, framed by velvety tannins and lively acidity, finishing long and spicy.

95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Tour Saint Christophe 2018 Saint EmilionGALLONI

The 2018 Tour Saint Christophe represents a new level of elegance, precision and finesse for this estate in Saint-Émilion's Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes district. Silky and exceptionally polished, the 2018 oozes class. Moreover, the heavy extraction and strong torrefaction notes that marked previous vintages of the recent past have been replaced by beautifully precise, vibrant fruit. Tour Saint Christophe is one of best values in Saint-Émilion. I haven't always loved Tour Saint Christoph, but I love the 2018. It's a fabulous effort from Technical Director Jérôme Aguirre and his team. Don't miss it.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Fonplegade needs no convincing, charging out of the gate with bold notions of black cherry preserves, mulberries and ripe, juicy black plums, leading to suggestions of Indian spices, dried roses and smoked meats plus a touch of tar. The medium to full-bodied palate is beautifully crafted, dripping with poise and sophistication, draped in plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering black cherry note. A very polished showing!

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Fonplegade 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru wie folgt:

The 2018 Fonplégade is super-elegant and refined. Some of the youthful exuberance the 2018 showed from barrel has naturally subsided, revealing a Saint-Émilion of real finesse and nuance. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, spice, blood orange and cinnamon are all beautifully layered. Even so, the 2018 was a bit more impressive en primeur. Hopefully, it is just closed post-bottling. We will see.

96 Punkte bei Jeb Dunnuck Chateau Beau Sejour Becot 2018 Saint EmilionJeb Dunnuck im März 2021:

This estate makes an incredibly classic, elegant Saint-Emilion. The 2018 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is based on 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in 65% new French oak. Coming from a beautiful terroir on the upper plateau, it reveals a deep purple/ruby color as well as perfumed cassis and mulberry fruits intermixed with ample spring flowers, chalky minerality, violets, and graphite. Medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated on the palate, it has terrific mid-palate depth, flawless balance, background oak, and polished yet significant tannins. If you want to know what limestone soil gives to a wine, try this! It has the polish and balance to offer pleasure today, yet the cellar will be your friend. This warrants 5-7 years of bottle age and will have 30+ years of prime drinking.

96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Beau Sejour Becot 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Beau Sejour Becot 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Beau-Séjour Bécot has really closed down since I tasted it en primeur. Inky red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint and blood orange gradually open in the glass, all framed by veins of chalky minerality. The 2018 is a fabulous wine in the making, but readers have to be patient. Time in a decanter or simply in the glass helps to bring out the wine's considerable depth.

100 Punkte Auszeichnung von Jeb DunnuckThe 2018 Château Larcis Ducasse checks in as 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc that comes from a gorgeous hillside terroir on the Côte Pavie, located between Château Pavie and Château Bellefont-Belcier. Aged 18 months in 60% new barrels, it offers a truly sensational bouquet of ripe blackcurrants, espresso roast, scorched earth, bloody meat, chocolate, iron, and bouquet garni. A massive, super-rich Saint-Emilion with a dense, concentrated, layered mouthfeel, it has building yet sweet tannins and incredible purity of fruit. Reminding me of the 2005 shortly after release, this heavenly juice offers astonishing richness and depth while staying flawlessly balanced and elegant. Sadly, there are less than 3,000 cases produced, but this monumental, legendary wine won't hit maturity for a good 8-10 years and will have 40-50 years of longevity if well stored. Hats off to Nicolas Thienpont and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt for producing one of the wines of the vintage as well as one of the greatest young Bordeaux I've ever tasted.

96 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für denLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Larcis Ducasse 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Larcis Ducasse needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock notes of crushed blackberries, plum preserves and boysenberries with suggestions of black truffles, tapenade and crushed rocks coming through, building to a subtle underlying perfume of roses and cloves. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits and loads of savory sparks, framed by firm, slightly chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

The 2018 Larcis Ducasse is one of the real overachievers of the vintage. Richness and classicism meld together in a Saint-Émilion that dazzles from the very first taste. Rich dark fruit, mocha, licorice, espresso and leather all open in the glass. Time brings out bright acids and that firm spice of Larcis tannin. More than that, though, Larcis impresses with its exquisite balance and class. It is easily one of the most undervalued wines on the Right Bank. Don't let its modest price fool you. Larcis is one the most compelling wines of the vintage. Don't miss it!

The 2018 Pavie Macquin is a blend of 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly, sensuously unfurls to reveal a gorgeous perfume of Black Forest cake, Morello cherries, baked plums and violets, with nuances of licorice, Indian spices and fertile loam. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has achingly plush tannins and fantastic freshness framing the spicy black fruit and mineral layers, finishing long and so, so fragrant. Wow—just stunning!

The 2018 Pavie Macquin was impressive out of barrel. It has retained its opulent bouquet, perhaps becoming even more luxuriant and plush, offering copious black cherries, cassis and violet aromas and hints of vanilla pod and iodine in the background. The palate is where this really impresses, because its opulence is effortlessly counterbalanced by a bead of acidity that imparts freshness and tension. This is a multilayered Pavie-Macquin endowed with tremendous length on the aftertaste. Even after 60 seconds I can still feel this Saint-Émilion lapping upon my senses. Superb.

Made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Belair Monange rolls effortlessly out of the glass with gregarious scents of black cherry preserves, stewed plums and boysenberries, plus suggestions of Indian spices, rose oil, Ceylon tea and garrigue, with a waft of tilled soil. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Wonderfully hedonic and conceivably drinkable now, give it 4-5 years in the cellar to allow the earthy/savory nuances to fully emerge from within the fruit and drink it over the next 25 years or more.

An incredible expression of Merlot grown on limestone soils, the 2018 Château Belair-Monange (90/10 Merlot and Cabernet Franc) sports a dense purple hue as well as powerful notes of blackcurrants, kirsch liqueur, flowery incense, chalky minerality, and white truffle. Rich, full-bodied, and beautifully concentrated, it's a serious 2018 offering integrated oak, ripe yet building tannins, and one hell of a great finish. The finest vintage of this cuvée I've tasted, it's a wine to seek out and hide in the cellar for a good 5-7 years. It's going to evolve for 30-40 years.

98-99 Punkte bei James Suckling Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint EmilionJames Suckling bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

What strikes you is how aromatic this already is at this stage. Complex and decadent. showing lots of dark berries. smoked meat. wet earth. and dried leaves. Decadent. Full-bodied with very ripe and polished. velvety tannins. Great finish.

97-99 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Thirty-three plots contributed to this wine. out of the 43 in production. Five went into Petit Cheval and five into bulk. The 2018 Cheval Blanc is a blend of 54% Merlot. 40% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. with a 3.75 pH and 14.5% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color. the nose is more open at the core of the wine than the Le Petit Cheval. strutting out of the glass with bold. ripe black cherries. cassis. warm plums and raspberry preserves notes. With coaxing. a whole array of fragrant spice. floral and earth notes emerge. followed by candied violets. star anise. powdered cinnamon. iron ore. tapenade and truffles plus wafts of camphor and mocha. Medium to full-bodied. the palate is firm yet possesses a beautifully plush structure of velvety tannins wrapping round the densely packed. complex. fragrant fruit. with seamless freshness and a very long. layered finish.

97-100 Punkte bei Vinous für den Chateau-Cheval-Blanc-2018-Saint-EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Cheval Blanc 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Cheval Blanc is dazzling. Creamy. supple and inviting. the 2018 is endowed with phenomenal balance. The tannins and overall structure are imposing. and yet the richness of the fruit and perfect ripeness of the tannin really stand out. In 2018. Cheval is a bit richer than is often the case. but that is not at all a bad thing. I am struck by how much freshness and energy the 2018 has. Hints of lavender. spice and licorice add shades of nuance. but it is the wine's overall sense of harmony that leaves the strongest impression. A precise counterpoint of fruit richness and finesse makes for a truly unforgettable Cheval Blanc. und vergibt ihm 97-100 Punkte.

19 Jan, 2022 – Blackberry, chocolate and hazelnut character on the nose, following through nicely to a medium body with integrated tannins and a fresh finish. Tight at the end, suggesting more to come with bottle age. Hints of mushrooms and earth. Second wine of Valandraud. Hint of wood at the end that will dissipate with age. Drink after 2024.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Virginie de Valandraud 2019 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Virginie de Valandraud 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Virginie de Valandraud is wonderfully deep and super-expressive. Red plum, raspberry jam, espresso, crushed rocks, rose petal, lavender and tobacco build into the richly textured, resonant finish. This explosive, flavorful Saint-Émilion has a ton to offer.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Virginie de Valandraud 2019 Saint Emilion:

The 2019 Virginie de Valandraud has a delightful bouquet, quite refined and focused, featuring predominantly black fruit mixed with cedar and light touches of mint. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, gaining weight and concentration toward the structured finish. While not as Left Bank in style as it was in barrel, there is impressive backbone here. This deserves 3–4 years in bottle.

95 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Für den Wine Spectator verköstigte James Molesworth den Virginie de Valandraud 2019 Saint Emilion:

Richly textured, featuring cashmere-like waves of dark plum, cassis and blackberry compote flavors that glide through and are laced with light violet, anise and black tea notes. The rumble of tannins can be heard on the finish, but for the vintage, this is extremely suave in the end. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2025 through 2040. 2,900 cases made.

92 Punkte vom Falstaff für den Virginie de Valandraud 2019 Saint EmilionDer Virginie de Valandraud 2019 Saint Emilion am Gaumen der Falstaff-Verköstiger:

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung.

Sweet-berry aromas with hints of chocolate and hazelnut follow through to a medium body with firm, fine tannins and a juicy, polished and fruity finish. Nicely integrated all the way through. Try after 2024.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Neal Martin (vinous) zum Chateau La Fleur de Bouard 2019 Lalande de Pomerol:

The 2019 La Fleur de Boüard has a vivacious, well-defined bouquet of pure red cherry and wild strawberry scents, a touch of marmalade and iodine emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe, with supple tannins and a sensual, concentrated yet never overpowering finish.

 BIO

Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru mit 95+ Punkten von Jeb Dunnuck bewertet Jeb Dunnuck im März 2021 über den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru:

The Cabernet Franc-dominated 2018 Château Petit Gravet Aîné (there's 20% Merlot) comes from the upper plateau in Saint-Emilion and was raised in new French oak. It's handled its élevage nicely and has just subtle vanilla and spicy oak notes as well as impressive red, black, and blue fruits intermixed with notes of acacia flowers, spice box, forest floor, and tobacco. Tighter and more backward from bottle than barrel, it's medium to full-bodied and has a balanced, elegant texture, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity.

95+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand CruLisa Perrotti Brown im März 2021 bewertet den Chateau Petit Grave Aine 2018 Saint Emilion Grand Cru:

The 2018 Petit Gravet Aîné is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, weighing in with 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with vibrant notes of kirsch, black raspberries and stewed plum, plus hints of lavender, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is juicy and plush, featuring loads of fragrant earth nuances to back up the ripe red and black berry layers and bags of freshness, finishing long and perfumed. This is an effortlessly beautiful Saint-Émilion! This is a tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard in the Saint-Émilion foothills, situated west of Château Canon-La-Gaffelière in deep, sandy-clay soils.
