The medium-bodied palate is elegant and refreshing, offering a solid backbone of firm, chewy tannins, finishing savory.

The 2020 Fonbadet has a fresh, vibrant bouquet of blackberry, cedar and light minty aromas, all quite gentle, and a light seaweed scent that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, a little oaky on the entry but that will be integrated with time. Touches of dark chocolate and vanilla appear toward the finish. This is a fine Fonbadet, but they need to watch that level of new oak to check it does not impede the fruit once in bottle.

Medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant on the palate, it has the purity and polish to shine even today, yet my money is on it benefiting from 4-6 years of bottle age, and it should evolve gradually over the following 15+ years.
