Das Chateau Pedesclaux im Pauillac gelegen ist unmittelbarer Nachbar von Mouton Rothschild in Nähe zu Pontet Canet und mit besten Rebflächen im Herzstück des Pauillac ansässig. Seit dem Jahre 2008 geht hier richtig die Post ab. Mit immensen Investitionen in den Keller das Weingut und die Weingärten, welche zum Glück über recht alte Reben und grossartiges Terroir verfügen kennt die Weinqualität auf Chateau Pedesclaux nur noch eine Richtung, nach oben und zwar steil! Zwei Meilensteine sind die Jahrgänge 2009 und 2010 auf Chateau Pedeslaux, denn diese zwei Jahrgänge beweisen zu welchen Leistungen man auf Pedesclaux in der Lage ist. Der Jahrgang 2016 wird ein eben solchen Meilenstein werden, davon gehen wir ganz fest aus und empfehlen dem Chateau Pedesclaux spätestens jetzt einen Platz in Ihrem Weinkeller einzurichten. Zudem gehört das Chateau Pedesclaux noch zu den kleineren Weingütern was die Produktion angeht, hier werden zwischen 45.000 und 60.000 Flaschen je Jahrgang produziert.

Auch Neal Martin für den WineAdvocate ist begeistert und vergibt 93-95 Punkte an das Fassmuster für den Chateau Pedesclaux 2016.
Neal Martin zum 2016er Chateau Pedeslaux:
The 2016 Pedesclaux is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, picked between 29 September and 18 October, matured in 60% new oak. It has a tightly-wound bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit, a touch of iodine and graphite. I like the subtle nature of this Pedesclaux, the brooding intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, crisp and fresh, a gorgeous salinity and a long and persistent, lightly spiced finish. This leaves the 2015 Pedesclaux far behind.

A gorgeous wine, the 2019 Château Pédesclaux shines for its pure, elegant, yet concentrated style, and it's certainly one of the finest vintages from this address. Cassis, black cherries, lead pencil, and violet notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. The purity and finesse are truly something here, and while it already offers pleasure, it deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will evolve for 20+ years.

The wine is blended using 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. 14.44 % ABV, 3.86 pH. Harvesting took place September 12 - September 22. Sleek and silky, the fruit has gorgeous purity and cleanliness, with tannins that are filling and ripe but also have bite and grip. The wine has power but delivered so delicately with tannins that give a sculpted element to the profile with precision and definition. Feels extremely polished, on the tense and straight side, the Cabernet is not so expansive or plush but this feels like it has that Pauillac swagger with lots of life and energy. Very drinkable and impressive from director Vincent Bache-Gabrielsen. 16% press wine, usually 12-13%. New label as of 2022 celebrating organic certification. 3% completes the blend. Total acidity: 3.7. 65% new oak barrels. 3.86pH.

Medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and elegant on the palate, it has the purity and polish to shine even today, yet my money is on it benefiting from 4-6 years of bottle age, and it should evolve gradually over the following 15+ years.
