17 Jan, 2022 – Sweet plums and berries with some lavender undertones. Medium to full body. Plenty of fruit and ripe tannins. Crushed-stone undertones. Polished and sophisticated finish. Merlot. Very attractive already, but needs two or three years to come together.

Neal Martin (vinous) zum Chateau Dalem 2019 Fronsac:
The 2019 Dalem offers almost Burgundian purity on the nose, where blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone and pressed iris petal commingle. The palate is beautifully proportioned and quite saline, with fine tannins and an almost pixelated finish, which delivers superb grip and density. This is an outstanding Fronsac that will live long in the bottle. Excellent.

Readers looking for a smoking deal in the vintage should grab bottles of the 2019 Château Dalem. This rich, medium to full-bodied, mouth-filling effort has lots of ripe darker cherry and blackberry fruit as well as tobacco, cedar pencil, and violet nuances. Rich, textured, balanced, and with a real sense of purity and class, it's ideal for enjoying over the coming 10-12, if not 15 years or so.

Medium to full-bodied. the palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruits with loads of freshness and perfume and a soft. approachable texture. finishing with a minty kick.

Tasted twice with consistent notes.

In seiner Appellationgilt der Chateau Montrose als der Chateau Latour des Saint Estephe. Dies auch wegen seine grossen Fähigkeit über Jahrzehnte zu reifen.
Der Chateau Montrose 2014 ist ganz klar ein Highlight nicht nur im Medoc sondern für das gesamte Bordeaux.

Incredible aromas of currants. blackberries. slate and flowers. Full-bodied yet so tight and beautiful with superb polish and brightness. The length is fantastic. Truly superb. Drink in 2021.

Tasted twice in Bordeaux in the early part of 2017. the 2014 Montrose replicated its showing at the property as part of the vertical in September 2016. It has that exquisite blackberry. cedar and blood orange scented nose that feels so effervescent even at this early stage. The palate is beautifully balanced with crisp. tensile black fruit. filigree tannin. perhaps in recent months developing a little more spiciness on the finish. It is just a beautiful. regal and complete Montrose that will give decades of drinking pleasure. Tasted February 2017.

Tasted at the château. the 2014 Montrose builds on the promise it showed in barrel with gorgeous blackberry. raspberry. cedar and orange sorbet scents that are extremely pure and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. very precise acidity and layers of crisp black fruit laced with vanilla from the new oak at the moment. That will be subsumed in time. What you have here is a very precise. multi-layered. almost sensual Montrose that is going to delight many for years to come. This is highly recommended—one of the finest Left Bank wines this vintage. Tasted September 2016.

29 Nov, 2021 – Plenty of sweet-tobacco, graphite, and dark-berry aromas follow through to a medium to full body with attractive ripe fruit and chewy yet round tannins. It’s a little one-dimensional on the palate now, but will develop complexity and drinkability in a short time. Try after 2023.

The 2019 Château Fontenil is, I suspect, mostly Merlot, and it's another fine Fronsac in this vintage. Ripe black cherries, forest floor, Asian spices, and chocolate notes all emerge on the nose, and it's full-bodied, ripe, and sexy on the palate, with sweet tannins, no hard edges, and wonderful overall balance. It dishes out tons of pleasure and is a much more approachable, forward wine compared to the Le Défi de Fontenil while still possessing the class to evolve for 10-15 years.

The 2019 is a big wine, but the 15.1% alcohol is not especially evident.

The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly lactic entry and fine acidity, maybe not quite as "crunchy" as I recall, yet still satisfyingly persistent.
