A very composed Fronsac here with blueberry and dark-plum aromas. as well as graphite and slate-like. dark-stone nuances. The palate has such fresh and defined tannins. Very balanced. too. A blend of 95% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.

The 2017 Dalem is vinified without SO2 and sees 40% new oak. It has a clean and precise bouquet with perfumed blackberry and freshly picked mint aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. One of the most elegant Dalem wines that I have tasted in recent years with a clean and precise finish that is top drawer. This has kicked on since bottling and is turning into a very lovely Fronsac. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

The 2017 Dalem felt somewhat reduced on the nose making it difficult to read although a second showing towards the end of my tastings revealed an engaging floral bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin. sweet and plush in the mouth with blueberry. vanilla extract and cassis towards the velvety finish that fortunately does not push too hard. This is a well- crafted Fronsac from Brigitte Rullier-Loussert.

Die Blend für den 2016er Fronsac vom Chateau de la RIeviere beteht aus 84% Merlot. 8% Cabernet Franc. 6% Cabernet Sauvignon und 2% Malbec. Diese Cuvee zeigt schon ein wenig an. dass dieser Fronsac anders ist als seine Nachbarn die oft nur auf Merlot und Cabernet Franc setzen. Er bietet ein etwas würzigeres Nasenbild und seine Tannine sind ein wenig griffiger gesetzt. Dafür besitzt er ein unglaublich gutes Alterungspotenzial. seinen Sie also nicht erstaunt. wenn er Ihnen in 10-12 Jahren noch einmal besser schmeckt.

The 2016 La Rivière is dark. dense and absolutely delicious. Blackberry jam. chocolate. espresso and licorice all flesh out in this brooding. potent Fronsac. Although not especially subtle. the La Rivière packs a real punch and is a real pleasure to taste.

Excellent, but give it 24 months in bottle, because the nose needs time to find its mojo.

The floral bouquet is what you initially notice before moving on to its licorice, tobacco leaf, espresso, and chocolate-covered plum notes. On the palate, the wine is seductive with its silky textures, and opulent nature. In the finish, the wine feels as good on the palate as it tastes. This is in contention for the best vintage of Dalem I have ever tasted. Drink from 2023-2038.
