Chateau Saint Pierre

Die Geschichte des Weinguts geht bis ins 16. Jahrhundert zurück. Bereits 1693 gab es gemäß
den Archiven ein Anwesen namens "Serancan", das dem Marquis de Cheverry gehörte. Unter
der Herrschaft Ludwigs XV wurde es 1767 vom Baron de Saint-Pierre gekauft, der ihm traditions-
gemäß seinen Namen gab. Nach dem Tod des Barons im Jahre 1832 teilten sich seine beiden
Töchter das Erbe. Bei der Klassifizierung von 1855 nahm Saint-Pierre den ersten Platz unter den
Vierten Grand Crus ein. 1892 trat Madame de Luetkens ihren Teil an Leon Savaistre ab, sodass es von diesem Zeitpunkt
an zwei Etiketten gab. Saint-Pierre-Savaistre und Saint-Pierre-Bontemps-Dubarry.
Im Jahr 1922 vereinten belgische Weinhändler das Weingut wieder, mit Ausnahme der Gebäude,
die bei der Familie verblieben und dem letzten Erben des Barons 1981 von Henri Marin abgekauft
worden sind. 1982 erwarb Letzterer auch die Weinberge und machte aus dem Laufe der Jahrhun-
derte zerstückelten Chateau Saint-Pierre wieder eine Einheit.
Heute führen Francoise und Jean-Louis Triaud sowie ihre Kinder Vanessa und Jean das Familien-
werk voller Leidenschaft weiter.

Aged for 14 months in 50% new and 50% one-year-old French oak and blended of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon. 21% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Saint-Pierre leaps from the glass with exuberant Black Forest cake. blackberry compote and cassis with hints of cigars. earth and violets with a waft of iron ore. Medium-bodied. the palate has a firm frame of grainy tannins with fantastic energy and depth. finishing on a lingering chocolaty note.

This is fantastic. offering lots of fresh tobacco and blackcurrants and undertones of hazelnuts and chocolate. Full-bodied with firm and chewy tannins. yet ever so polished and refined. One of the most structured St. Pierre’s in years. A blend of 73 per cent cabernet sauvignon. 21 per cent merlot and six per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2024.

Saint-Pierre is muscular, massively tannic and forbidding, and yet there is a ton of fruit behind all of that structure.
