Chateau de la Dauphine

The famous wine journalist Neal Martin from VINOUS magazine just published his reviews about 2018 vintage en primeurs. (Januar 2020)

Château de La Dauphine 2018 gets the best reviews of the appellation and becomes the84th winery on the 483 tasted in Bordeaux vineyard. 92-94 points :

“The 2018 La Dauphine is blessed with a knockout bouquet of precocious black currant and raspberry fruit laced with tobacco and clove, very focused and very well delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, great depth, very good acidity and a surfeit of freshness. Silky-smooth on the plummy finish, this is an utterly delicious Fronsac that will give a couple of decades of drinking pleasure.”

91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den La Dauphine 2016Antonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 La Dauphine is fabulous. Exotic, super-ripe and flamboyant to the core, the 2016 possesses tremendous depth and tons of personality. Blackberry jam, plum, chocolate, espresso, spice and licorice give the 2016 its distinctly dark personality. The extracted style brings out darker shades of fruit and heavy torrefaction notes at the expense of fruit brightness and freshness, which is a stylistic choice. I would prefer to drink the 2016 over the next few years.

90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den La Dauphine 2016Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 de la Dauphine reveals notes of baked black cherries, dried mulberries, spice cake and tobacco with a core of blackberry compote and mincemeat pie plus a touch of dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers loads of savory accents to complement the ripe black fruits, framed by rounded tannins and finishing on an herbal note.

A firm and chewy red with dark-berry, chocolate and walnut character with some salty, mineral undertones. Full body. Dense and driven for the vintage. A blend of 90 per cent merlot and ten per cent cabernet franc.

There’s a gently savory edge to the nose here with a wealth of very juicy and attractively fresh red plums on offer. The palate is nicely proportioned with smooth, fleshy and lithe tannin. Red plums hold fresh. A blend of 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.

A tangy and energetic sense to this Fronsac with dark berries, wet earth and a mineral undertone. Medium-bodied, focused and real.

88-90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau de La Dauphine 2018 FronsacLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau de La Dauphine 2018 Fronsac wie folgt:

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 de la Dauphine delivers notes of fruitcake, plum pudding and Chinese five spice with touches of prunes, tobacco and dusty soil. Full-bodied, with a firm, chewy backbone and plenty of expressive berry preserves and spicy layers, it finishes earthy.

89-91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau de La Dauphine 2018 FronsacAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau de La Dauphine 2018 Fronsac wie folgt:

The 2018 La Dauphine is silky, nuanced and super-expressive. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, spice, lavender and dried flowers add nuance. In some tastings, La Dauphine has come across as understated and classy, while towards the end of my en primeur tastings I saw a much richer, denser wine. Either way, La Dauphine is one of most compelling under the radar wines of the year.

The 2019 de la Dauphine has a superb nose with pure blackberry, boysenberry and crushed stone aromas, hints of iris and violet emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, grainy tannins, fine depth and an unerring sense of symmetry on the finish. Yet another great Fronsac.

92-93 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 Fronsac James Suckling bewertet den Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 Fronsac im Juni 2020:

This is a solid, structured red with blackberry and licorice aromas and flavors. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a rich finish. Really well framed and structured.

91-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 Fronsac Antonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 Fronsac im Juni 2020:

Blackberry jam, dark spice, chocolate, licorice, French oak, and new leather all open up in the 2019 La Dauphine. A wine of superb richness and volume, the 2019 is shaping up to be a real beauty. The more extroverted side of Fronsac comes through nicely here.

89-91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 Fronsac Lisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 Fronsac im Juni 2020:

Very deep purple-black colored, the 2019 de la Dauphine sings of warm blackberries, mulberries, stewed plums and fruitcake with touches of clove oil, chocolate mint and cracked black pepper. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with freshness, lifting the ripe black fruits, finishing long with a pleasant suggestion of chewiness.
