The Conterno Fantino 2019 Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda is medium dark and more concentrated compared to many of its peers. This wine shows a solid bouquet with fixed aromas of wild cherry, long-stemmed rose and candied orange. With time, even more floral aromas are coaxed forward from the bouquet. Beyond those are oak-driven notes of allspice and cinnamon. The tannins are polished, and the wine offers quite a bit of fruit texture. Production is 6,600 bottles.

Fresh and vibrant with red berry, blood orange, crushed hazelnut, hibiscus and spice aromas and flavors. Medium- to full-bodied, tense and linear with a backbone of firm, finely grained tannins and steady minerality. Needs some time. Try after 2027.

The 2019 Barolo Castelletto Vigna Pressenda is a gorgeous, exotic wine. Rose petal, orange peel, cinnamon, cedar and red berry fruit all open in a beautifully layered, super-expressive Barolo from Conterno-Fantino. Beams of Castelletto tannin extend the finish while lending a real feeling of vibrancy throughout. The balance of purity and structure is compelling.

An important and cellar-worthy wine, the Conterno Fantino 2017 Barolo Ginestra Vigna Sorì Ginestra shows ripe fruit and wild berry, with background tones of grill herb, licorice and pressed blue flowers. There are hints of eucalyptus and white pepper that add extra lift and intensity to the bouquet. This is an excellent wine that is very different from the epic 2016 vintage, which scored an extraordinary and well-deserved 98 points; this vintage does not reach that stratospheric level of complexity or depth. When it is ready to open, note that it carries an alcohol content of 15%, so an elaborate truffle meal is probably in order. Exactly 12.124 bottles were released.

Rather floral and fruity with candied strawberry and some cherry and stone undertones. It’s full and flows across the palate. Creamy, round tannins that are very fine. Friendly and seductive, especially for a 2017. Drink in 2025 and onwards.

The 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo Ginestrino is forthcoming and bright with honest aromas that underline forest fruit and wild cherry. This is a pleasurable and easy-drinking wine that shows a mid-weight approach with plenty of bitter almond, tar and pressed violets that appear as background shadings. Fresh acidity makes this a great choice to pair with a creamy beef stroganoff or something similar. Production is 31.350 bottles.

Der Conterno Fantino 2016 Ginestrino Langhe Nebbiolo ist in allen Belangen ein Preis/Genuss-Wunder! Die im Piemont am Fluss Langhe gediehenen Nebbiolotrauben für diesen Wein bringen im 2019er-Jahrgang die Kraft eines Barolo mit der gewünschten Finesse, Frische und Rasse, die man von einem "kleinen" Nebbiolo erwartet. In der Entwicklung schon auf absolut zugänglichem Level, zeigt sich das Tannin zwar robust, aber nicht ganz so kernig wie nach der kurzen Zeit auf der Flasche befürchtet. Der Conterno Fantino 2019 Ginestrino Langhe Nebbiolo ist intensiv, kraftvoll, gut strukturiert und ein idealer Begleiter zu mediteranen Schmorrgerichten.

In the light cream-colored label, the 2019 Barolo is elegant and contained, showing a very focused and linear style that makes a great impression and awakens the senses. There is wild cherry, blue flower and crushes stone backed by balanced freshness and tannins. The wine ages in large Slavonian oak casks for 30 months, and 85,000 bottles were released.

Lots of lavender, raspberry and orange blossom aromas follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a polished finish. Shows lovely drive and balance. Clear and fine. Drink after 2025.
