Der Latour a Pomerol 2023 aus dem Anbaugebiet Pomerol zeigt sich zunächst mit einer etwas schüchternen Nase, die eine zurückhaltende dunkle Frucht offenbart. Im Mund entfaltet der Wein jedoch sein volles Potenzial, mit kühlen mineralischen Noten und einem wärmenden Ausklang. Der Körper präsentiert sich in mittlerer bis voller Länge, begleitet von fleischigen Tanninen mit gutem Griff. Die Säure ist hervorragend eingebettet und unterstützt die Struktur des Weins. Der aromatische und lange Ausklang rundet das Geschmackserlebnis ab. Ein bereits sehr leckerer Wein, der 94-95+ Punkte verdient. Ein Genuss für anspruchsvolle Weinkenner.

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Ein Hauch von Orangenzesten, reife Kirschen, etwas Nugat, schwarze Waldbeeren, einladendes Bukett. saftig, elegant, feine Kirschfrucht, seidige Tannine, gute Frische, balanciert und anhaftend, ein stoffiger Speisenwein mit gutem Reifepotenzial.

This is structured and focused, with firm tannins and a polished texture. Seamless and long with medium to full body. Deep and layered on the palate, building to a rather muscular finish. Big at the end. Almost rustic in style. 100% merlot.

Jean-Pierre Moueix's "fermage" of this estate began in 1962, and his eponymous firm has only just acquired ownership of the vineyards to produce the 2023 Latour à Pomerol, which gives one a sense of how long it can take to acquire land in Pomerol! Offering up aromas of minty cherries, cassis, rose petals and petroleum jelly, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a generous core of sun-kissed fruit, sweet, powdery tannins and a broad, penetrating finish.

The 2023 Bourgneuf is an especially impressive effort that underlines this estate's proximity to Trotanoy (one block actually reaches the outbuildings of Trotanoy). Unwinding in the glass with aromas of mulberries, exotic spices, licorice, incense and lilac, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a dense, creamy core of concentrated fruit framed by a serious chassis of sweet, powdery tannin. This is likely to number among the sleepers of the vintage.

This is juicy and tense on the palate, with lively fruit character and a hint of chocolate. Medium-bodied with polished tannins. Shows freshness, vibrancy and chewiness. It’s fleshy and succulent on the finish. Excellent potential for aging. 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Tasted twice.

Die Nase ist reif an dunklen Früchten, ein ganzer Korb an dunklen Waldbeeren, eine süsse Kirsche in der Mitte. Der Gaumen ist zu Beginn agil und zupackend, mit dem zweiten und dritten Schluck wird das Gesamtbild immer harmonischer. Er bekommt eine gewisse Zartheit, bei knackig frischer Säure. Sein Nachklang ist lang und aromatisch. Ein Stil der wohl in diesem Jahr mehr Pauillac Typizitöt zeigt als noch in den Jahren zuvor. Man könnte meinen, hier bei Pontet Canet beruft man sich auch wieder auf alte Tugenden wie Graphit und dunkle kraftvolle Frucht etwas Mokka mit strukturierten Tanninen. Und doch ein etwas weniger ausladender Duft als gewohnt, mehr mit vornehmer Zurückhaltung.

Revealing an elegant, fresh bouquet of mulberries and cassis mingled with notions of violets, gentian and menthol, the 2023 Pontet-Canet is medium to full-bodied, seamless and multidimensional, with a pure and precise core of fruit that's framed by ultra-refined tannins and a powerful but controlled profile, concluding with long, mineral, licorice-inflected finish. It's the result of more daring harvest decisions than in previous years: By picking the Merlot earlier to highlight fresh, fruity notes rather than baked, sun-kissed flavors and simultaneously delaying the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest until after September 28 to refine tannins, the 2023 Pontet-Canet marks a significant evolution at this renowned estate. At this early stage, its élevage appears to be more discreet, too. This wine, which I'd be delighted to own, is a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, matured in 50% new oak barrels, 35% amphorae and 15% once-used barrels.

A very structured Pontet-Canet that expands in the mouth with a gorgeous combination of beautifully ripe fruit and intense tannins. Very structured for the vintage. Full-bodied with excellent presence and length. So much raw pencil shavings to the blackcurrants. Graphite and tar. Fresh and vivid. They picked cabernet at the right time at the end of September. 52% cabernet sauvignon, 39% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot.

Blue fruits, sappy herbs, flowers, and subtle graphite notes all emerge from the 2023 Château Pontet-Canet, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated Pauillac that has plenty of mid-palate flesh and texture, ripe, polished tannins, and outstanding length. It's incredibly well-balanced, has a round, layered mouthfeel, and a brilliant sense of salinity and minerality on the finish. It's going to need just short-term cellaring, but this is a gorgeous Pauillac. The blend is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, from healthy yields of 55 hectoliters per hectare.

A wine to convince you of the quality and ripeness of Cabernet Sauvignon in Pauillac in this 2023 vintage, showcasing superbly supple tannins, great balance, depth and savoury blue and black fruit character, bitter cocoa bean, freshly cut herbs, black tea, fennel, all vivid and with purity of character. There is density here but it is not overt, with heightened raspberry leaf, peony and violet aromatics. Vinified in the newly-completed section of the cellars, in egg-shaped wooden vats and sunken qveri-style clay vats. 50% new oak for ageing, with 35% amphora and 15% one year old barrels. One of the wines of the vintage. New lighter bottle as of the 2022 around 490g, down from 815g in the past, 30 tonnes of CO2 saved just in terms of production. Harvest September 7, one day earlier than 2022, then slow picking through to October 10, later than many in Pauillac - and normal yields of around 40hl/h.

The 2023 Potensac is a solid effort, offering up aromas of dark berries, cherries, loamy soil and cigar wrapper, followed by a medium-bodied, fleshy palate that's taut and penetrating, with good depth at the core.

Beautiful dark fruit with purity and freshness. Medium- to full-bodied, seamless and compact. Outstanding quality of tannins, so fine and dense. It’s muscular and taut on the mid-palate. Lingering, too. Plenty of energy. Close to 2022.

Plenty of lift, a little serious and austere, but this is a well balanced and enjoyable wine. Harvest Setepbmer 18 to 29, 20% new oak for ageing. No 2nd wine of Potensac since 2021, since they pulled out more than 20ha of vines to retain only the most high quality parts of the vineyard.
