Dichter und satter Kern, frische intensiv fruchtige Nase. süssliche kleine Beeren. Schwarzkirsche. Im Mund satt mit guter Frucht. Schöne polierte Tannine, weich, frisch und sauberes Finale. Seit einigen Jahren nun ist das Chateau Dalem für uns die Benchmark in Fronsac, daran ändert auch der JG 2018 nichts. 93 Punkte

The 2018 Dalem is quite backward on the nose, opening gradually to offer blackberry, licorice and very light menthol aromas; you just want to give the aromatics a polite kick up the backside. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite juicy in the mouth, delivering black cherries and cassis toward the well-defined, persistent finish. Excellent, but give it 24 months in bottle, because the nose needs time to find its mojo.

The 2019 is a big wine, but the 15.1% alcohol is not especially evident.

Die Blend für den 2016er Fronsac vom Chateau de la RIeviere beteht aus 84% Merlot. 8% Cabernet Franc. 6% Cabernet Sauvignon und 2% Malbec. Diese Cuvee zeigt schon ein wenig an. dass dieser Fronsac anders ist als seine Nachbarn die oft nur auf Merlot und Cabernet Franc setzen. Er bietet ein etwas würzigeres Nasenbild und seine Tannine sind ein wenig griffiger gesetzt. Dafür besitzt er ein unglaublich gutes Alterungspotenzial. seinen Sie also nicht erstaunt. wenn er Ihnen in 10-12 Jahren noch einmal besser schmeckt.

The 2016 La Rivière is dark. dense and absolutely delicious. Blackberry jam. chocolate. espresso and licorice all flesh out in this brooding. potent Fronsac. Although not especially subtle. the La Rivière packs a real punch and is a real pleasure to taste.

The 2019 Dalem offers almost Burgundian purity on the nose, where blackberry, bilberry, crushed stone and pressed iris petal commingle. The palate is beautifully proportioned and quite saline, with fine tannins and an almost pixelated finish, which delivers superb grip and density. This is an outstanding Fronsac that will live long in the bottle. Excellent.

Readers looking for a smoking deal in the vintage should grab bottles of the 2019 Château Dalem. This rich, medium to full-bodied, mouth-filling effort has lots of ripe darker cherry and blackberry fruit as well as tobacco, cedar pencil, and violet nuances. Rich, textured, balanced, and with a real sense of purity and class, it's ideal for enjoying over the coming 10-12, if not 15 years or so.
