This is one of the best wines I have had from here. Full-bodied yet focused and super dynamic. Tight and linear with fantastic length and energy at the end. Exciting.

Dark plum and boysenberry fruit is laced with tobacco and chalk notes, while the fleshy grip slowly builds through the finish. This is seriously long and though the fruit is gorgeous, the minerality steals the show in the end.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Clos Fourtet is a little youthfully mute to begin. With coaxing, it opens out to notes of crushed blackberries, warm black plums and wild blueberries plus suggestions of forest floor, lavender. baking spices and potpourri. Full-bodied, the palate has an amazing texture of soft, plush tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the layer upon layer of berries and spices, finishing long and fragrant. Total time in barrel should run 16 months in 60% new and 40% one-year old barriques. The blend is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.

One of the wines of the vintage, the 2018 Clos Fourtet is positively stunning. In the glass, the 2018 sizzles with tension and energy. A whole range of floral. mineral and red berry notes develop, but it is the wine's exceptional sense of harmony that leaves the deepest impression. Consulting winemakers Stephane Derenoncourt and Jean-Claude Berrouet turned out a glorious Clos Fourtet in 2018. Don't miss it. The blend is 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

97 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2016 Saint EmilionVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:
Love the dark-berry and intense black-olive and chocolate aromas that follow through to a full body and firm and chewy tannins that deliver a rich and delicious finish. Such polish and. at the same time. finesse. But one of the cellar. A blend of 90 per cent merlot. seven per cent cabernet sauvignon and three per cent cabernet franc. Try from 2022.

The 2016 Clos Fourtet is vivid. explosive and simply captivating. Inky blue/purplish berry fruit. lavender. spice and white flowers are all vivid in the glass. but it is the wine's silky. seamless personality that elevates it into a place among the wines of the vintage. In 2016. Clos Fourtet is stunningly beautiful and utterly compelling. This is a tremendous showing from proprietor Matthieu Cuvelier and consulting winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt. Tasted two times.

The 2015 Clos Fourtet is a blend of 90% Merlot. 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. and it was picked between 18 September and 12 October. It has a voluminous bouquet with sweet cassis and blueberry aromas. rather smudged with violets coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin. ripe and voluptuous. dark chocolate infusing the red and black fruit with a touch of mint on the structured. graceful finish. What a fabulous Saint Emilion from Mathieu Cuvelier and his team - Clos Fourtet with breeding and class. It deserves 5-8 years in bottle.

Clos Fourtet is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty in 2015. Powerful. vivid and wonderfully nuanced. it exudes class. Inky red/purplish stone fruit. lavender. spice. mint and orange peel give the 2015 its myriad shades of nuance. but it is the wine's balance and total sense of harmony that elevate it to the realm of the profound. In 2015. Clos Fourtet has a bit more body and resonance than is typically the case. Beneath all of the fruit. however. the 2015 has more than enough energy and structural underpinning to drink well for many years. This is a stunning wine from the Cuvelier family and consulting winemakers Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu. The blend is 88% Merlot. 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

Thoroughly ripe but seemingly light-footed. as a remarkably silky structure lets waves of plum sauce. blueberry reduction and raspberry puree glide through effortlessly. Light licorice. violet and ganache hints add to the finish. showing very fine chalky minerality in the background. Drink now through 2035. 4.417 cases made.

The 2020 Clos Fourtet offers up aromas of dark berries, plum preserves and pencil shavings framed by nicely integrated new oak. It is medium to full-bodied, with a rich core of ripe fruit that's framed by powdery, youthfully firm tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This limestone site always delivers low pHs, so the wine remains fresh and vibrant, even if its fruit flavors are marked by the warmth and sunshine of the vintage.

James Suckling beschreibt ihn im Januar 2023 wie folgt:
Subtle aromas of orange peel, sweet tobacco and currants follow through to a medium body, fine tannin texture and a fresh finish. Extremely tight now, but persistent at the finish. Classy. Best of the triology. Drink after 2027.

97 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck für den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2020 Saint Emilion Den Chateau Clos Fourtet 2020 Saint Emilion beschreibt Jeb Dunnuck wie folgt:
Much more closed and backward now from bottle, the 2020 Château Clos Fourtet is nevertheless a brilliant Saint-Emilion that ranks with the crème de la crème of the vintage. A blend of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc, its deep purple hue is followed by an incredibly pure, classic Saint-Emilion bouquet of darker cherry and cassis-like fruit as well as chalky minerality, lead pencil shavings, and white flowers. Concentrated, full-bodied, and flawlessly balanced, it has perfectly integrated oak, an incredible sense of minerality, good acidity, and a great finish. It's going to need a solid decade of bottle age but will evolve for 30-40+ years in cold cellars. The Château deserves far more attention in the market today as they’re consistently producing some of the greatest wines in a vintage.

James Molsworth beschreibt ihn im Januar 2023 wie folgt:
Nicely rendered, this manages to belie the vintage's heat, with a focused and streamlined core of dark currant and blackberry fruit studded with licorice snap, violet, alder and tobacco notes along the way. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2028 through 2040. 3,500 cases made, 500 cases imported. –JM
