DIe UGCB schreibt zum Chateau Lagrange:
The history of Lagrange dates back to 1796, when it was acquired by Count Jean Valère Cabarrus, Napoleon’s Finance Minister in Spain . He expanded the estate by purchasing numerous vineyards plots and remained the owner until 1825. Château Lagrange was classified a third growth in 1855. In 1983, the Suntory group, the leading Japanese wine and spirits firm, acquired Lagrange and invested heavily in a spectacular renovation. Priority was given to the vineyard, followed by refurbishing and modernising the vat room and cellars. Today, Lagrange has 120 hectares of vines. Efforts undertaken since the 1980s include plot-by-plot vineyard management and separate fermentation of grapes from each of these plots in order to fine tune the final blend. This results in a powerful, elegant wine with great ageing potential year in, year out. Château Lagrange is also one of the rare estates in the Médoc to produce a white wine: Les Arums de Lagrange. Above and beyond their focus on quality, Bruno Eynard and his team also show great respect for the environment in everything they do.

Antonio Galloni Januar 2019: 93

The 2016 Lagrange (Saint-Julien) is super-expressive today. Soft and supple, the 2016 is quite open, even in the early going. Sweet tobacco, menthol, dried herbs and licorice appear with time in the glass, adding lovely shades of nuance. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. Lagrange is not especially complex, but it is absolutely delicious and will be impossible to resist upon release. A touch of blood orange, mint and red berry fruit adds freshness on the finish.

Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018: 95

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Lagrange sashays out of the glass with notions of candied violets, cassis, underbrush and warm black plums with waves of Black Forest cake, cedar chest and yeast extract scents. Medium to full-bodied, the bags of perfumed black fruits are solidly structured with super ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and layered.

95 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Lagrange 2016 Saint JulienVerkostungsbericht vom 03. Februar 2019:

The best wine from this château in many years! A huge, dramatic, blackcurrant and wild-blackberry nose and the first impression on the palate is every bit as intense. Nice acidity lifts this massive structure and keeps the imposing finish so fresh. Drink or hold.

Chateau Lagrange 2017 Saint JulienLisa Perotti Brown bewertet das Fassmuster am 27.04.2018 in der Ausgabe 236 des Wine Advocate wie folgt:

The medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Lagrange is 100% Merlot and opens with a seriously plummy nose with a compelling undercurrent of spice cake, potpourri and chocolate box plus a waft of sage. Medium-bodied, taut and muscular with a rugged frame of chewy tannins and lively acid, it finishes with an energizing herbal lift.
Chateau Lagrange 2017 Saint JulienJames Suckling bewertet das Fassmuster am Donnerstag, den 05. April 2018 wie folgt:

A 2017 with serious depth of fruit and firm tannins. Solid center palate. Fresh and long finish. Should come out nicely.
Chateau Lagrange 2017 Saint JulienDas Team von Vinous bewertet das Fassmuster im Mai 2018 wie folgt:

The 2017 Lagrange is wonderfully pliant, with creamy tannins and more than enough juiciness to make it extremely appealing, even in the early going. Ripe dark cherry, chocolate, new leather, licorice, cedar and dried herbs run through this super-expressive, inviting Saint-Julien. Tasted two times. - Antonio Galloni

This is a very velvety-textured Lagrange with blackberry and purple-fruit character. Lavender and black-tea undertones. Full body. Long and caressing.

93-96 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Lagrange 2018 Saint JulienJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Lagrange 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

The intense cassis and blackberry fruit is studded with graphite and licorice snap notes. Vivid from start to finish. Grippy but energetic.

93-95+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Lagrange 2018 Saint JulienLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Lagrange 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Lagrange opens a little closed and broody, slowly revealing cedar chest, tar, pencil shavings, camphor and fragrant earth scents with a baked plums and warm cassis core plus a hint of yeast extract. Full-bodied and jam-packed with black fruits and earthy accents, it has a solid frame of firm, chunky tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a persistent mineral note.

93-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Lagrange 2018 Saint JulienAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Lagrange 2018 Saint Julien wie folgt:

The 2018 Lagrange is off the charts. Bold, plush and beautifully resonant in the glass, the 2018 possesses tremendous richness and textural intensity. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, espresso, mint and licorice build in a racy, sumptuous Lagrange loaded with personality. The 2018 is one of the best recent vintages I have tasted. Tasted two times.
