Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 La Pointe offers up notes of baked black and red plums, cherry preserves and fresh blackberries, plus wafts of crushed rocks, underbrush and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of ripe black fruit flavors, supported by ripe, rounded tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and earthy.

Very aromatic with blackberries, dried flowers and wet earth. It’s medium-bodied with creamy, round tannins that are tight-grained. Fresh finish.

The 2020 La Pointe has a finely tuned and detailed bouquet of black cherries, raspberry, wild strawberry and light truffle scents, unfolding beautifully with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity and lovely poise, leading into a mineral-driven, sophisticated finish. This is one of the best vintages of La Pointe I have encountered at this stage. Just superb.

Composed of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc. the 2018 La Pointe has a deep garnet-purple color and quite a cedary nose to begin over a core of warm black cherries. blackberry pie and spice cake plus nuances of mossy bark. pencil shavings and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied. it has a firm. chewy texture and soft freshness enveloping the muscular. savory layers. finishing a little drying.

Lots of blue fruit and stone with some slate. Medium to full body. firm tannins and a flavorful finish. Racy and structured at the finish.

The 2019 La Pointe was tasted on three occasions including direct from the property. which is what I use for this tasting note. It has a very attractive nose. initially tightly coiled and demanding coaxing/aeration. It unfurls to reveal blackberry. briary and light shaved black truffle aromas - très Pomerol. perhaps due to increased contribution of Cabernet Franc (24%). The palate is medium-bodied with (and you can quote me on this) the finest tannins and silkiest texture that I have ever encountered from this property. Very fresh from start to finish. this feels cohesive and sophisticated. quite simply the best La Pointe ever. Bravo winemaker Eric Monneret.
