90 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Cap de Faugeres 2016Lisa Perrotti Brown im November 2018:

The 2016 Cap de Faugeres (composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a medium garnet-purple color and reveals notions of warm plums, blackberry pie and black raspberries with touches of pencil shavings and sautéed herbs. Medium-bodied with a velvety texture and good core of black fruits, it finishes on a long-lasting earthy note.

Plenty of plum cake and spice with hints of sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, dense and chewy with lots of structure. Solid and intense. This needs at least three years to soften, but already enticing. Drink after 2022.

The polish and finesse to this wine is very impressive with medium to full body and ultra-fine tannins that caress every inch of your palate. Strong, ripe dark-berry flavors and a powerful build to the finish. Reserved and finely tannined, the wine goes on and on. Shows reserve and poise. Racy. Drink after 2022.

Attractive blackberry and blueberry character with hints of spice and white pepper. Medium-to full-bodied. Quite tannic. One of best Cap de Faugères I have had.

89-91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2018 Cotes de CastillonLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2018 Cotes de Castillon wie folgt:

The 2018 Cap de Faugères is composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon; harvest began on September 22. Deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with intense scents of preserved plums, kirsch, chocolate box and menthol with hints of woodsmoke and Indian spices. Full-bodied, rich and voluptuously fruited in the mouth, the palate has a velvety texture and plenty of red fruit sparks of freshness, finishing spicy.

87-90 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2018 Cotes de CastillonAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2018 Cotes de Castillon wie folgt:

The 2018 Cap de Faugères is a soft, pliant and inviting Côtes de Castillon from Silvio Denz. Raspberry jam, sweet spice and floral notes all grace this pretty, silky affordable red. A slight vegetal note lurks beneath, but hopefully that will resolve itself during aging. Tasted three times.

CB Weinhandel bewertet den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2018 Cotes de Castillon wie folgt:
Gute Dichte, reife Frucht, saftig und gute Länge. und vergibt ihm 88-90 Punkte.

The blackberry and blueberry character is impressive on the nose with some licorice and graphite. Salty. Full-bodied, tannic and velvety. Powerful finish. Chewy. Best Faugères ever?

92-95 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Faugeres 2018 Saint EmilionJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Faugeres 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Ripe, with crushed plum and boysenberry puree notes, yet fresh, showing good lift throughout. A swath of roasted apple wood flavors on the finish needs to get soaked up, but there's enough depth of fruit for that.

91-93 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Faugeres 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Faugeres 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Faugères, which was harvested beginning September 25, is composed of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it slips sensuously from the glass with notions of blackberry compote, wild blueberries and redcurrant jelly with hints of cardamom, cigar box and dusty soil plus a waft of star anise. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, it has a firm backbone of rounded tannins with bold freshness and loads of black fruit preserves layers, finishing long and spicy.

92-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Faugeres 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Faugeres 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Faugeres is fresh, lively and quite deep, with a striking interplay of floral top notes and rich, layered fruit. I sense a shift towards a more refined style. Even so, there is plenty of the depth and textural richness readers have become accustomed to. Dark red fruit, espresso, cedar and dried flowers add lovely shades of aromatic nuance as well as energy. The 2018 is beautifully rendered. The blend is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Proprietor Silvio Denz and consulting winemake Michel Rolland turned out a gorgeous Faugeres in 2018. My only real critique is that Faugeres and the pure Peby Faugeres are more closer in style than they usually are, which is remarkable as the blends are totally different! Tasted three times.

Very tight and finely tannined with a compact palate and loads of blue-fruit and blackberry character. It’s full-bodied, but muscular and focused, to pull it into form.

This a high-toned, extremely polished barrel sample with blue fruit, blackberries and ultra-polished tannins that give a creamy texture to the wine. Like fine velvet in the texture.

94-96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Peby Faugeres 2019 Saint Emilion Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Peby Faugeres 2019 Saint Emilion im Mai 2020:

The 2019 Péby Faugères has a typically opulent bouquet, although I find this to show more detail and delineation than the Faugères, with lovely black cherries, boysenberry and iodine aromas, violets emerging later. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins that frame the layers of concentrated black fruit laced with sea salt and truffle. Good grip on the finish - this is a mighty impressive Péby Faugères, albeit one that will require cellaring.

This is a young red with serious concentration of fruit for the appellation, showing blue fruit and hints of dried mushrooms and salt. Full-bodied. Chewy finish. Better than the 2018.

91-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2019 Cotes de Castillon Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2019 Cotes de Castillon im Mai 2020:

The 2019 Cap de Faugères has a typical Fronsac bouquet with dense blackberry, briary and melted tar aromas that kind of shut the door in your face for broaching it prematurely. I don't mind that - it's still delineated and develops an appealing loam character. The palate is medium-bodied with quite hard tannins, a broad-shouldered and grippy wine in the making with a potent briny finish. It will certainly require several years in the cellar, but it is still a Fronsac with character.

89-91 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2019 Cotes de Castillon Lisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2019 Cotes de Castillon im Juni 2020:

Opaque purple-black colored, the 2019 Cap de Faugères delivers intense scents of prunes, Black Forest cake and ripe, fresh blackberries with hints of Marmite toast, tapenade, damp soil and truffles. The full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black fruit preserves with a velvety texture and tons of freshness, finishing long and earthy.
