Chateau Cantenac Brown
Chateau Cantenac Brown

Februar 2019:

This has a very delicious and attractive nose offering ample dark berries and plums with cocoa and freshly cut bracken. The palate has a smooth. fan-like array of fine but sturdy tannins that carry very fresh and upbeat into the finish. Try from 2023.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Cantenac Brown 2016Vinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Cantenac Brown has an intense bouquet of blackberry and boysenberry fruit. pencil lead and sous-bois. There is gutsiness to these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin and a rounded texture. A little heavier than the Brane-Cantenac. displaying fine structure and persistency on the finish. Do not ignore this.

91 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denAntonio Galloni Januar 2019:

The 2016 Cantenac Brown is a super-concentrated. potent Margaux. Raspberry jam. mocha. licorice. plum. new oak and spice are all lavishly rendered. Broad and sweeping on the palate. with tremendous richness and resonance. Cantenac Brown is one of the bigger. more overt Margauxs of the vintage. Readers should expect a big. ripe wine. In several tastings. the 2016 has come across as a bit over the top. at least for my personal taste. Technical Director Jose Sanfins gave the 2016 16 months in oak. 60% new.

The 2018 Cantenac Brown is deep garnet-purple in color and a little coy to begin and then. with coaxing. opens out to lovely red roses. black tea. violets and underbrush scents with a core of warm red and black currants and chocolate-covered cherries. Full-bodied and laden with perfumed red and black fruit layers. it has a firm frame of fine-grained tannins and a long. fragrant finish.

93-96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cantenac Brown 2018 MargauxAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Cantenac Brown 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

The 2018 Cantenac Brown is powerful. deep and super expressive. with striking persistence and terrific overall balance. The interplay of fruit intensity. aromatic depth and structure is compelling. In the 2018. the Grand Vin has a bit more Cabernet Sauvignon than in the past. plus drops of Franc. that give an added touch of energy. There is plenty of density and richness. but my impression is that the wine is also a bit less extracted than it has been in the recent past. The blend is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon. 28% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

94-97 Punkte vom Wine Spectator für den Chateau Cantenac Brown 2018 MargauxJames Mothels bewertet den Chateau Cantenac Brown 2018 Margaux wie folgt:
Winey and dark in profile. with steeped currant. plum and blackberry fruit. buttressed by ganache. smoldering tobacco and warm earth notes. Accents of bay leaf. alder and mineral are in reserve. Delivers a beguiling feel despite the concentration. A very strong showing.

94-96 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Cantenac Brown 2019 Margaux Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Cantenac Brown 2019 Margaux im Mai 2020:

Winemaker José Sanfins is doing sterling work at this fast-improving Margaux estate. The 2019 Cantenac Brown represents around half the crop. picked 18 September to 9 October and then matured in 60% new oak. It has a slightly more extravagant bouquet than its peers. more expressive with vivacious blackberry. raspberry and cranberry fruit mingling with cedar and cigar humidor scents. The palate is very cohesive with sappy red fruit. beautifully judged acidity and a harmonious. fulfilling dark chocolate-tinged finish that lingers wonderfully. What an exquisite. well-crafted Margaux with oodles and oodles of charm.

Here is a very pretty barrel sample with crushed berries. walnuts and hints of chocolate and smoke. It’s full-bodied and layered with lightly chewy tannins and a rich finish. Muscular for the vintage.
