Silky and refined in feel, with perfumy black currant paste, plum reduction and blackberry compote notes forming the core while sandalwood, black tea and cedar accents drape the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Fontenil hits the ground running with vivacious notes of baked black plums, stewed black cherries and black raspberry preserves, followed by hints of molten licorice, ground cloves and sandalwood. The rich, full-bodied palate (15% alcohol) is jam-packed with black fruit preserves and exotic spice accents, framed by plush tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

The 2018 Labégorce is a plump, juicy Margaux that will drink well right out of the gate. Succulent dark cherry, plum, spice, licorice, chocolate and new French oak are all kicked up in this decidedly opulent, heady Margaux. Soft curves and pliant fruit add to its raciness. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für denNeal Martin bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2018 Margaux wie folgt:

The 2018 Labegorce has a very seductive bouquet of pure black cherries, blueberry and crushed floral scents. This is one of the more precocious 2018 Margaux, revealing an increasing floral element with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit laced with tar and licorice. Very cohesive, tightening up toward the finish, which retains fine nuance and mineralité.

The 2018 Kirwan is bold and potent in its first impression. A rush of dark red/purplish fruit makes a strong opening statement. Today. the 2018 is a bit chunky and rough around the edges. Hopefully elevage will take care of some of that. This is an especially rich. bombastic style. There is no lack of fruit or intensity. that much is obvious.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Labegorce 2019 MargauxAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux:

The 2019 Labégorce is a rich, heady wine. Succulent black cherry, plum, espresso, licorice, menthol and chocolate are all dialed up. Readers will find an extroverted, lush Margaux. Soft curves and layers of plush fruit add to its considerable immediacy.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Labegorce 2019 MargauxUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux:

The 2019 Labégorce was the first vintage vinified in the new cellar and also the first to use Cabernet Franc from the north part of the appellation, on more limestone soils, a massal selection from an organic producer in the south of France. Matured in 40% new oak, this has a voluminous, multifaceted bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and perhaps more rose petal than violet at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, very well balanced, and a little spicier than I found from barrel, leading to a detailed, tensile finish.

94 Punkte vom Falstaff für den Chateau Labegorce 2019 MargauxDer Chateau Labegorce 2019 Margaux am Gaumen der Falstaff-Verköstiger:

Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Feiner Schokotouch, dunkle Beerenfrucht, feines Cassis, ein Hauch von Edelholz, einladendes Bukett. Saftig, elegant, feine Fruchtsüße, reife, tragende Tannine, bleibt sehr gut haften, mineralisch und mit sicherem Reifepotenzial ausgestattet.

Lovely, soft tannins with a juicy and flavorful palate of currants, slightly toasted oak and chocolate. It’s full-bodied and layered with a plush texture and a long, flavorful finish. Warm and rather flamboyant for the vintage. Try in 2025.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Siran 2019 MargauxAntonio Galloni (Vinous) bewertet den Chateau Siran 2019 Margaux:

Just like it was from barrel, the 2019 Siran is a powerful, opulent wine. Raspberry jam, blood orange, mint, wild flowers and rose petal are all amplified in this decidedly heady, sumptuous Margaux. There's not a ton of subtlety, but, then again, who cares? Tasted two times.

94 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Siran 2019 MargauxUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Siran 2019 Margaux:

The 2019 Siran has a very well-defined bouquet of pure black cherry and raspberry fruit, crushed violets and iris petals, and seamlessly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied, structured and crisp, with fine tannins, impressive delineation and plenty of freshness on the saline finish. One of the best Siran releases in recent years.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Kirwan 2019 MargauxUnd Neal Martin (Vinous) zum Chateau Kirwan 2019 Margaux:

The 2019 Kirwan retains the engaging floral aromas that I noticed from barrel, well-defined and fragrant, rose petals and a touch of peony complementing the red currant and wild strawberry fruit. The fresh palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and generous, with supple tannins and a hint of white pepper toward the finish, which fans out nicely. This is one of the best Kirwans in recent years and yet I still feel this Margaux can reach higher.

Die Degustationsnotiz des Wine Advocate zum Chateau Labegorce 2020 Margaux :

The 2020 Labégorce is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, aging in French oak barrels, 40% new. The alcohol is 14%. Medium to deep purple-black in color, it slides out of the glass with open-knit scents of redcurrant jelly, kirsch and black raspberries, plus hints of bay leaves and lavender. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and elegant with plenty of vivacious red berry flavors and a soft texture, finishing with an herbal lift.

92-93 Suckling-Punkte für den Chateau Labegorce 2020
James Suckling schreibt zum Chateau Labegorce 2020 Margaux Folgendes:

A tight, compact Labégorce with blackcurrant, walnut and some graphite. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a solid core of tannins and fruit. Some lead pencil. Very structured for this estate.

91-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Labegorce 2020
Das meint die Vinous-Mannschaft um Antonio Galloni zum Chateau Labegorce:

The 2020 Labégorce was picked 16 September to 1 October and raised in 40% new oak, the remainder one year old. It has a perfumed bouquet with brambly red fruit, wild strawberry mixed with raspberry preserve and rose petal, hints of orange rind emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, classic in style with a fine bead of acidity that imparts plenty of freshness. More black fruit on the palate compared to the nose with a saline finish, this is a fine Margaux that has a suppleness suggesting it will drink early after bottling.

The 2020 Siran was picked from September 16 to October 3 with an average yield of 36hl/ha, and matured in a prudent 35% new oak. It has a superb bouquet of vibrant black cherries, blueberry and violet scents on the nose – one that could only come from this appellation. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent but firm tannins, a crisp line of acidity and beautifully integrated oak. This is very cohesive and offers impressive salinity on the finish. Best Siran to date? I think so.

Das meint die Vinous-Mannschaft um Antonio Galloni zum Chateau Kirwan:

The 2020 Kirwan, cropped at 33hl/ha and tank-fed via gravity, undergoes an 18- to 22-month élevage. It offers ripe black currant and raspberry coulis scents on the nose, violets and citrus peel emerging with time. There is a seductiveness to these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, ripe entry that disguises the backbone, a very silky texture and traces of tobacco and graphite furnishing the opulent finish. One of the more luxuriant Margaux 2020s.

The 2016 Malescot Saint Exupéry is fabulous. Powerful and explosive on the palate. the 2016 offers serious intensity. but it also appears to be holding back quite a bit of its potential. Moreover. what impresses me most is that in 2016. intensity is delivered more with finesse than with the brutish power that is such a signature of Malescot. Deep and resonant. but also remarkably polished. the 2016 Malescot is a winner.
