93-94+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2021 Saint Julien William Kelly zum Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2021 Saint Julien (April 2022):

The 2021 Léoville Poyferré shows considerable promise, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berries and plums mingled with spices, licorice and petals, framed by a deft touch of creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it's a polished, charming wine with a pretty core of fruit, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins, concluding with a penetrating finish. It's a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.

Die Bewertung für den Chateau Leoville Poyferre 2021 Saint Julien vom Wine Cellar Insider lautet wie folgt. The Wine Cellar Insider (Jeff Leve) : 93-95 / 100

Dark garnet in color, the wine exudes flowers, cherries, currants, black raspberries, espresso beans, tobacco leaf and mocha in the perfume. Soft, silky, fresh and vibrant, with a hint of spice, the wine is forward, polished, and fruity, with loads of crushed berries and a tint of cocoa in the backend of the creamy-textured finish. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, 13.11% ABV. The harvest took place September 28, finishing October 12. The yields were quite low at only 24 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2026-2055.

Jeb Dunnuck im Juni 2022 : 94-97 / 100

The top wine, the 2021 Château Léoville Poyferré is a beauty and certainly makes the most of the vintage. Based on 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that hit 14% alcohol (with an IPT of 78 and a pH of 3.85), its dense purple hue is followed by a rich, concentrated, medium to full-bodied Saint-Julien that has terrific purity of fruit, notes of cassis, violets, and spicy wood, ripe tannins, and remarkable overall balance. It brings more richness and depth than most in the vintage and is unquestionably going to offer tons of pleasure over the coming 20-25 years.

This is very typical for St.-Julien with violets, berries, blackcurrants and crushed stone. Medium to full body with very fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Powdery tannins and a rich finish. Velvety texture. 60% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot, 9% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot.

93-95 Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Giscours 2021 Margaux William Kelly Chateau Giscours 2021 Margaux zum (April 2022):

The 2021 Giscours is immensely promising and shows just how far this important estate has come in the last few years. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis, dark berries, cigar wrapper, violets, sweet forest floor and burning embers, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with terrific depth at the core, ripe tannins, lively acids and a long, penetrating finish. With wines like this, we're back to a level of quality that Giscours hasn't routinely attained since the 1970s!

The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot; and even if by the standards of the last decade, that isn't a particularly elevated percentage of Cabernet, this is nonetheless a very Cabernet-driven wine in style. Tasted six times.

94-95 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Giscours 2021 Margaux Der Chateau Giscours 2021 Margaux am Gaumen von James Suckling (Mai 2022):

Very precise and focused with tight, sleek yet firm tannins, framing a fresh core of black fruit, gravel and tobacco. Crushed stones and tea leaves, too. Savory and medium-bodied. Driven and linear. Lots of cabernet character. Chewy tannins. Rather muscular. But polished texture. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 32% merlot and 3% petit verdot.

Jeb Dunnuck im Juni 2022 : 91-94 / 100

Tasted on multiple occasions, the 2021 Château Giscours is another pretty, floral, more red and black fruited effort that has medium-bodied richness, wonderful tannins, no hard edges, and outstanding length. Based on 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, it shows the pretty, finesse oriented, elegant style of the vintage.

Violets, spice-tinged cherries and currants create the nose. On the palate, the wine exudes a sweetness to its core of red berries, along with elegance and refinement. Balance and freshness are the hallmarks of this wine, which finishes with layers of sweet, finesse styled red fruits and tannins. The wine is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, 13.5% ABV, pH 3.8, the harvest took place September 27 - October 13. Yields were 38 hectoliters per hectare. I loved the 2021 Château Brane-Cantenac, and I'd put this up with the top wines in the appellation. Medium-bodied, silky, and pure, with considerable elegance, it has lots of red and black fruits, some floral and herbal, tobacco nuances, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a quintessential Margaux with its complexity and nuance. Tight and focused with blackberry, blueberry and some licorice character. Medium body, firm tannins and a bright, linear finish.

Tasted on numerous occasions, the 2021 Château Lafon-Rochet has solid, yet slightly reserved aromatics of darker, almost blue fruits and some classic tobacco and lead pencil. It opens up with air and is medium-bodied, with a classic, focused style (I said “Pauillac” in my notes), notable balance, and a great finish. The blend is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and a splash of Petit Verdot.

Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's concentrated and penetrating, with terrific concentration and a beautifully refined, classy profile. Underbrush, smoke, cigar wrapper, espresso, spice, dark cocoa, flowers and the strong sensation of crushed rocks and stones tossed into the Atlantic ocean create the the enticing bouquet. On the palate, the wine is medium/full-bodied, elegant, polished and chalky with layers of sweet, ripe, earthy, red pit fruits, salty tannins, herbs dark chocolate. There is length, minerality and complexity on the mid-palate and a vibrancy to the red fruits with a strong crushed rock influence in the finish. The 2021 de Fieuzal Blanc shows considerable potential, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crisp nectarine, mint, pasty cream, citrus oil and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and tensile, with tangy acids, chalky dry extract and a long, saline finish, it will be bottled under Diam 30. This Sauvignon Blanc-Sémillon blend is rapidly establishing itself as one of Bordeaux's most interesting dry white wines. Tasted three times.

Jeb DUNNUCK (Jeb Dunnuck) : 92-94 / 100

The 2021 Château De Fieuzal Blanc (65% Sauvignon and 35% Semillon) is terrific and shows the quality of the vintage. Giving up ripe tropical and melon fruits as well as notes of honeyed flowers and chalky, mineral-like nuances, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a bright, vibrant, chiseled texture, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and well worth seeking out.

A creamy and fruity white with notes of star fruit, kiwi, peach and lemon. Some buttercream. Fresh and medium-bodied. Pretty finish.

Flowers, yellow citrus, grapefruit, lemon rind and honeysuckle, with a hint of orange tropical fruit in the background gets the perfume started. The wine is sweet, juicy, vibrant and fresh on the palate, finishing with a touch of salt in the energetic, fruit-filled endnote. Drink from 2023-2032.

A blend of 69% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 L'Evangile offers up aromas of plums, cherries and wild berries mingled with notions of rose petals, violets, licorice and tobacco leaf. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, with fine concentration and rich, powdery structuring tannins that assert themselves on the finish, this estate's rather low average vine age meant Evangile didn't suffer much from coulure this year, and the rainy growing season also spared young Cabernet Franc from hydric stress—explaining its historically high percentage in the 2021 blend.

96-97 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau L Evangile 2021 Pomerol Der Chateau L Evangile 2021 Pomerol am Gaumen von James Suckling (Mai 2022):

A pure, creamy and well-structured yet very fine Evangile. Long and caressing. Very fine tannins. Lots of fresh dark fruit and savory, mineral character. Understated and classy. 69% merlot, 30% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon.

93-95 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck im Mai 2022:

The Grand Vin 2021 Château L'Evangile includes more Cabernet Franc and is 69% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, brought up in 50% new French oak, with 15% amphora. Beautiful blue fruits, violets, chocolate, and some gravelly earth define the bouquet and while it's a medium-bodied, more mid-weight L'Evangile, it has a wonderful purity of fruit, ripe, present, silky tannins, outstanding balance, and a great finish. It's another vibrant, elegant, seamless Pomerol that will drink nicely with just short-term cellaring yet have 20 years of prime drinking.

Rich in color, with little effort you find chocolate, black plums, truffle, coffee bean, mint and flowers in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, soft, vibrant, and loaded with chewy red fruits, chalky tannins, freshness, spice and leafy herbs that add to the sweetness in the red pit fruits. The wine blends 69% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% ABV. The harvest took place September 21 - October 4. The wine is aging in a combination of 50% new, French oak, 15% amphora and used oak barrels. The Grand Vin was made from 55% of the harvest. Drink from 2025-2048.

88-90 Punkte

With good richness in color, you find chocolate, black cherry, mint leaf, crushed rock and flowers in the nose. Earthy, soft, lush and polished, there is a nice finesse along with fruit and freshness in the finish. The wine is made from a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Harvesting took place October 6-October 9. Drink from 2024-2039.

The 2021 Poesia unwinds in the class with aromas of rich berries, cassis and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, bright and tightly wound, with powdery tannins and a taut, mineral profile, it reflects the thin soils and late-ripening conditions of this sector—as well as a blend that includes fully 30% Cabernet Franc. Expect it to flesh out and unwind with further élevage.

91-93 Punkte von Jeb Dunnuck im Mai 2022:

Still aging in new barrels, the 2021 Château Badette (75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot) is one of the bigger, richer wines in the vintage, yet it still plays in the fresher, elegant end of the spectrum. Lots of red and blue fruits, background oak, medium to full-bodied richness, and a ripe, rounded, opulent mouthfeel all define this charming, forward, undeniably delicious 2021. It's going to drink nicely right out of the gate. Harvest here took place on the 8th of October, with healthy yields of 40-hectoliters per hectare, malolactic fermentation occurred in barrels, and it will spend 18 months in oak. Tasted numerous times.

This 17-hectare amphitheater of a vineyard has produced a successful 2021 Barde-Haut, offering up aromas of sweet berries, cherries and plums framed by a creamy patina of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with tangy acids and a generous endowment of powdery structuring tannins, it's a blend of more or less 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc (the latter increasingly deriving from massale selections taken at Clos l'Eglise).

Licorice, black cherry, espresso and herbs are on the nose. Medium-bodied, soft, elegant, polished and fresh, this should drink well young, yet have the ability to age and evolve for 15-20 years. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2024-2040.
