The 2016 Pintas Vintage Port is a field blend from old vines coming in with 100 grams of sugar. A big mouthful, this is sexy. sweet and powerful, although the fruit is winning out just now. Let it sit in the glass and you feel the tannins, though. It is firm on the finish. This has a long way to go in the cellar, but it is so expressive that I will not blame you for drinking it young. That would be a mistake. though—and it is going to close down. So, it's pretty much now or come back around 2027 or so. I suspect. When this young pup rounds into form. I suspect it will be a star. Let's be just a little conservative right now.

Der Name des Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas 2017 verweist auf den sehr alten Weinberg mit über 100 Jahre alten Rebstöcken. Zudem sorgen die hier über 30 einheimischen Rebsorten für Komplexität und Stabilität in den Jahrgangsqualitäten. Wie auch bei den Pintas-Weinen achtet das Winzerteam durch das schonende Zerstampfen der von Hand selektierten Trauben darauf. dass wirklich nur die besten Gerbstoffe in den späteren Wein gelangen. Nach der Gärung erfolgen malolaktische Gärung und Reifeprozess über 20 Monate hinweg in französischer Eiche.

Der Vinhas Velhas 2017 beeindruckt uns mit seinen komplexen Aromen von saftigen Pflaumen über verschiedene Gewürze und mineralische Noten. Diese Eindrücke werden am Gaumen fortgeführt und von der opulenten Tanninstruktur in einen langen. frischen Abgang hinein getragen. Ein großer Genuss für viele Gelegenheiten!

The 2017 Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas is a field blend of over 30 different grapes from centenarian vines (110 years) aged for 20 months in 70% used French oak. It comes in at 14% alcohol. Wonderfully fresh in this big vintage—it was picked early—this has lifted fruit. precision and silky texture. If you're looking for a dense. jammy Douro red in this warm year—but it depends on when the grapes were picked—this sure isn't it. That said. it has a Burgundian feel. with intensity of flavor and fine elegance. The ripe tannins easily provide support. At least as it now shows. a little more evident concentration wouldn't hurt. but its finesse is admirable and this is always on the restrained side. No one could dislike this very graceful red. How much you love it will be the question as it ages. We'll see what happens after it settles down—it has some serious potential for improvement. and its freshness should support it as it ages. This is the final blend. but it was a few weeks from bottling when seen.

The 2016 Quinta da Manoella Vinhas Velhas was aged for 20 months in 70% used French oak and comes in at 14% alcohol. Perfumed from oak. this is otherwise an elegant wine from centenarian vines. This is always subtler than the Pintas. more understated and restrained. It has that Old World finesse. if you'll excuse the stereotype. Textured. silky and wonderfully graceful. this has ripe tannins for support and a fresh feel. Not quite bottled when seen. this still needs to have some evolution in the bottle. but it is surprisingly approachable just now. Still. put it away for a while to allow it to become more expressive and complex. Otherwise. you'll be wasting it. There were 4.000 bottles produced.

Seit 1715 baut die Quinta do Noval ihre Weine aus, heute wie damals in handwerklicher Tradition. Lassen Sie sich beeindrucken von diesem fülligen Jahrgangsport. Der Ursprung liegt in der schönsten Domäne des Duoro Tales.

Den Quinta do Noval 2016 Late Bottled Vintage Port unfiltered verkostete Mark Squires im August 2022: "Der 2016 Unfiltered Late Bottled Vintage Port ist ein Verschnitt aus typischen Rebsorten wie Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão und Sousão, der fünf Jahre lang in Fässern reift. Dieser traditionelle LBV wird mit einem langen Korken und 92 Gramm Zucker geliefert (der 2015er wurde nicht veröffentlicht). Ein weiterer hervorragender LBV von einem der besten Erzeuger der Region, der vor Aromen von Erdbeeren und Kräutern nur so strotzt. Er hat eine feine Konzentration und eine angemessene Tanninunterstützung. Von der Kraft her ist er in diesem Jahr ein wenig zurückhaltend. Er sollte gut altern (das tun sie immer) und auf dem Weg dorthin an Komplexität gewinnen, was alles ist, was jetzt noch fehlt."
