The 2016 Bellevue is dense and powerful, but also quite reticent following its bottling this past June. Dark and virile, the 2016 is going to need at least a few years to come into its own. The intensity and volume the wine showed en primeur are very much in evidence, but also presently enshrouded by a wall of potent tannins. Gravel, smoke, game, leather and tobacco give the 2016 much of its savory character. I loved Bellevue from barrel, but it is far less showy from bottle.

A dense and layered red with ripe plums and blueberries, as well as hints of wet earth and moss. Full-bodied, velvety and layered with fantastic fruit and creamy, velvety tannins. Plush and deep. Great wine. Try from 2023.

93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Bellevue 2016Vinous / Neal Martin Januar 2019:

The 2016 Bellevue has retained the attractive bouquet evident when in barrel: quite rich in style but well defined, offering ample, luscious red cherry, mulberry and pressed iris aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with lush tannin, impressive depth and freshness and just the right amount of salinity toward the finish. This has gained a little panache during its élevage, and it comes highly recommended. Excellent.

This is firm and very tight with a ripe and compact tannin backbone to the blue fruit and hot-stone undertones. Medium to full body. Soft and lightly velvety tannins.

92-94+ Punkte vom Wine Advocate für den Chateau Bellevue 2018 Saint EmilionLisa Perrotti Brown bewertet den Chateau Bellevue 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

Made of 100% Merlot, the 2018 Bellevue is deep garnet-purple colored and gives up wonderfully expressive scents of baked black cherries, plum preserves and blueberry coulis with hints of mocha, licorice, dried spearmint and chargrill plus a waft of cardamom and Indian spices. Medium to full-bodied with bags of rich, seductive fruit, it is laden with bright earthy sparks and has a soft, plush texture, finishing with fantastic freshness and energy.

90-93 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Bellevue 2018 Saint EmilionAntonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Bellevue 2018 Saint Emilion wie folgt:

The 2018 Bellevue is bold, punchy and super-expressive. In many years, Bellevue can be a bit austere, especially in its tannins, but the 2018 has an extra layer of richness that adds texture and sensuality. Dark plum, blood orange, mint and wild flowers build as this racy, polished Saint-emilion shows off its considerable sexiness. Tasted two times.

Bellevue is a pretty little vineyard poised just above Château Angelus in Saint-Émilion. The soils here are clay/limestone, and it is planted to 100% Merlot. Deep purple-black in color, the 2019 Bellevue rolls sensuously out of the glass with enticing notes of preserved plums, blueberry compote and Black Forest cake plus hints of powdered cinnamon, clove oil, candied violets and star anise. Full-bodied, concentrated and totally seductive in the mouth, the decadent black and blue fruits are well-supported by firm yet velvety tannins and tons of freshness, finishing very long and wonderfully opulent.

93-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Bellevue 2019 Saint Emilion Neal Martin bewertet den Chateau Bellevue 2019 Saint Emilion im Juni 2020:

The 2019 Bellevue has an attractive, oyster shell tinged bouquet that is very well defined by opulent blackberry and blueberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, silky in texture with a lovely countervailing sour cherry that lends welcome tension towards the finish. It will require 4-5 years in bottle but it will gift 20-30 years' drinking pleasure.

93-95 Punkte vom Vinous-Team für den Chateau Bellevue 2019 Saint Emilion Antonio Galloni bewertet den Chateau Bellevue 2019 Saint Emilion im Juni 2020:

The 2019 Bellevue Mondotte is a powerful, tightly wound Saint-Émilion. Dark red cherry, dried flowers, licorice and mint all meld together in the glass. Next to the other wines in the Perse range, Bellevue Mondotte comes across as less showy, with tons of persistence that makes up for its reticence. Red fruit, pomegranate and blood orange infuse the finish with superb density. I can't help thinking that I caught the 2019 at a slightly awkward stage.Henrique Da Costa, Gérard Perse's son-in-law, explained that while 2019 was hot and dry, conditions were not extremely hot. Cool temperatures in the evenings provided respite from the daytime heat, while water reserves in the soils from the wet spring allowed the vines to avoid stress. As for the wines, they are superb across the board. Most of the attention will naturally center on Pavie, but the entire range is terrific.

94-95 Sucklingpunkte für den Chateau Bellevue 2019 Saint Emilion James Suckling bewertet den Chateau Bellevue 2019 Saint Emilion im Juni 2020:

The purity of fruit is impressive here with crushed blackberries, blueberries and dark chocolate with some coffee. It’s full-bodied, yet integrated and chewy. Rich finish.
